Sooner or later everyone who has any type of guitar will play live. How to amplify the axe is only getting harder if you step into the acoustic realm and might be the hardest if you wanna play dobro or resonator on a show.
I check out a few common and available options amongst which the Mic is the best sounding but the pickup is the easiest to utilise. I am not sure whether the Highlander is a piezo or a pickup but I am certain it is the best compromise.

I think the mic still wins.
I’d love to hear iRig acoustic stage with a dobro....
I use one with my acoustic guitars and it’s great.

I am with you Vinnie, mic is king. Since this I bought a bluebird SL and that's awesome too. Generally I like iRig products so I imagine it is good. If I get my hands on one sometime I'll be sure to make a video with it.

Although I'm not fan of piezo, I must admit that it sounds best here. There's somewhat scooped characteristic in voicing of EM pickup, regardles of position. if you love to experiment try using AKG D 12 for amplifying resonator (I know it's kick drum mic)

I agree. I just bought a Bluebird SL mic, we'll see how good it is. I recorded with one years ago and was nice.

I haven't had any feedback issues with the highlander so far. I started using an LR Baggs Para DI box recently and it is a great addition to boost and shape the signal.

The highlander sounds great. The national slimline is really disappointing

The pickups make a $2000 guitar sound horrible. Micing the sound holes would give you a better more in depth sound or put mic between grills and cover plate. I use a Meyers mic which is a microphone that attaches to the guitar. Depending how loud stage volume is, kind of the best of both worlds. If you're playing with a band, yes then pickup is better but a National resolectric or pioneer would be the best choice. In the end there can be only one.

I never tried the meyers but heard about it. I is probably similar to the LR BAGGS Lyric I have in my acoustic. If so it seems like a good option. I think this highlander is more faithful to the sound than any pickups and I agree that playing with a band a resolectric or a pioneer would be the best solution.
Although these videos are as much of an experimentation as demonstration I do like to use the mic at the resonator cone. Otherwise I am using a condenser mic further away but that is not an option in a live scenario.

DogwithtwoBones you’re right the 57 is one of the best mics for live but like you said you can’t move much. Great videos as I was thinking of getting the slimline, hence how I found your video. I will stick with my Meyers or a mic live. When I play acoustic I’m solo. Thanks for an honest video

Seems like you already have the meyers working so it is safer not to change a system that already proved to working. I am glad the video was at least somewhat helpful. Thanks for watching and the interaction! Btw I started a new channel recently, my resonator stuff will most likely be only uploaded to that one from now on: ua-cam.com/channels/1zl3_bl2wCk3w0rpyz9RnQ.html
