I mean it doesn't mean the person WILL get cancer, but my point is you're arguing as emotional as the women in the panel. Not just you, I've seen several comments that go like 'I play COD and I didn't shoot anyone'. I mean, I'm on your side, but if we are going to convince anyone of anything, anecdotal evidence better not be the best we counter them with. Because I know couple of persons that smoke for 40 years and are healthy as they can be. So just arm yourself with better arguments I guess would be my point.

i am an asperger Autist...i play video games all day, cause i dont like going outside interacting with people in an environment that is heavily disadvataging me cause i dont speak body language and turn out awkward most of the time. In video games - or chat - or forums - that barrier is gone and i can interact with people in an equal base. No secret language usable that i dont speak - in real life i never met a friend, always was mobbed and pushed down, in video games i am liked, i am social, i have friends. With video games i found friends that became friends in real life who helped me moving etc. I found my WIFE through computergames when i never could get a GF in the real world. Video games very likely may be the only reason why i am NOT on the street shooting people cause video games showed me that the world can love me...even though the world outside still doesnt
This is yet awesome and sad to hear man! I think I have asperger as well, but I think people think I'm attractive, so that compensates for me lacking social skills to comprehend most body language and such. But hearing you (not saying you are not attractive -at all, that is not what i'm trying to get at, also, I'm not gay so don't take it that way either-) really must be bitter man... And i feel how you feel, but to a lesser degree, because for me it stays for the people I interact with at not understanding me and me not understanding them. Like there is some kind of red dread missing in our wires to connect one another.

I have Aspergers, I love playing COD from time to time, and I've never shot or thought about shooting anyone and I think 99% of other people like me are the same.
One thing I find that is a glaring example of how they have no idea what they're talking about when they say that these shootings occur because of Call of Duty is a total lack of knowledge about any part of any of it's plots. Especially in the Modern Warfare series. With one exception (and even then it's offset by karma in the form of getting shot for your atrocities), you are objectively the good guy. In 2 and 3, your main objective is either to defend the nation from very angry Russians who are more than committing war crimes against your nation or go after and try to stop the guy who has committed several crimes against humanity, including orchestrating the infamous airport massacre. Your only targets in most situations in the game are trained and heavily-armed soldiers and mercenaries who willingly serve objectively evil and/or insane individuals who prove time and again just how atrocious their actions and motives can be.
The woman that talked about a situation where someone plays a game with shooting in it for a long time and then thinks they should go and do it in real life wasn't describing an Aspie. She was unintentionally describing a sociopath. By the way, I have Asperger's Syndrome. So I know firsthand she wasn't describing me. Thank you, goodnight.

The fact that people are still to this day blaming video games for violent behavior/mass shootings blows my mind, there has yet to be any studies suggesting a connection between the two and it hasn't happened even though a lot of research has been done on the topic. Same goes for movies and comics. When you shoot someone in a video game you don't think "Oh yes I just murdered that innocent person" no, you just look at it as another score/point which makes you progress, anyone who has ever played a first-person shooter agrees with this. It's so entertaining to watch these old people have such strong opinions about something they have never played or barely watched.
dan dobrowolski I don't think so. Remember the game 'Hatred'? There was a shit ton of controversy about it, being too violent and killing innocent people. The developers said that it is a form of art and they have the right to make it. So they did.

I've always respected Penn Jilette as a person but I do even more so now. As a woman I can't begin to describe how THESE women on panel shows absolutely infuriate me. I'm a gamer with social anxiety and I love playing shooters. Have I ever shot anyone? No. I've also never been wielded a big ass sword and summoned Bahamut then casted a fire spell. Go figure. I've also never ripped someone's spine out and I played the first Mortal Kombat when I was like... 12 or something.
STOP BLAMING GAMES AND MOVIES FOR MURDERERS. THEY made the choice to take lives. THEY pulled the trigger. Not someone sitting at their desk creating art.
onyxtheforsaken I was watching that and one lady would say something really stupid and always look to the audience and they always clapped in support, obv, but still
You're not really helping with the 'look at me I'm not a killer' narrative either though.. You're not a killer, great that's a sample of size n = 1. There are people who smoke and don't have cancer. Does that mean smoking doesn't cause cancer? Does that mean that the person who smokes won't get cancer? I mean it doesn't mean the person WILL get cancer, but my point is you're arguing as emotional as the women in the panel. Not just you, I've seen several comments that go like 'I play COD and I didn't shoot anyone'. I mean, I'm on your side, but if we are going to convince anyone of anything, anecdotal evidence better not be the best we counter them with. Because I know couple of persons that smoke for 40 years and are healthy as they can be. So just arm yourself with better arguments I guess would be my point.
onyxtheforsaken yeah exactly.. I played GTA Chinatown Wars when I was like 10 and I remember that I ran around selling drugs and buying them... I am 16 now never took anything, never smoke and never drank anything, but hey it's the games' fault 🙃
Preach sister, I am also a gamer. It's usually non-gamers who make those statements without knowing anything about gaming at all, idiots probably don't even know where to switch on the console, send people 'emails' through whatsapp, hold their mouth to the camera when they make a video call and create a new facebook account every time they forget their password...
Allieballiebee85 you won’t summon Bahamut and cast a fire spell with bat attitude
I love how Pen mentioned and compaired video games to art he's so right. Obviously a fan of the vidya.
Kunt Destroyer he's the best.
Yea but not sure the comparison between Shakespeare and Call of Duty is quite right
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
R Phillip im gonna, he actually has a showed dubbed "Bullshit" which takes on so many issues including religion, crystal healing etc, and he actually had a child who was chin deep in violent video games. The child even went so far to claim je wanted to kill, so Penn on his show invited him to actually try shooting a real gun.
One shot, the kid was in tears and terrified. Give a watch.
Plus I really don't trust CNN.
Kurai Kenshi Okay, so you don't trust one source I posted but failed to even try to logically and factually refute the actual information presented. Only because you "don't trust" one source of the information?

i am an asperger Autist...i play video games all day, cause i dont like going outside interacting with people in an environment that is heavily disadvataging me cause i dont speak body language and turn out awkward most of the time.
Orkar Isber ur exactly like me though I’m only 14
This is yet awesome and sad to hear man!
I can act body language by studying it.

My guy, you're pretty much describing my best friend. I'm getting all teary eyed and emotional at how accurate an example you're giving. People just don't understand how isolated he is, and how videogames allow him to be his true self.

I played Call of Duty World at War, and I didn't think about shooting anyone, and I even got free history lessons from it.

Penn: "you just said it."

The fact that people are still to this day blaming video games for violent behavior/mass shootings blows my mind, there has yet to be any studies suggesting a connection between the two and it hasn't happened even though a lot of research has been done on the topic. Same goes for movies and comics.
