      Remember history. If you decide to bring in an incompatible population instead of mechanizing and automating, the long term effects are toxic.

    Changing an offensive name is fine, but I think we'd be better served changing education finance.

      I don't think we have to choose. We can certainly debate (rhetorically) which may have a greater impact; however, both are important and necessary. There might even be some overlap between the two mentioned.

    We must never forget history, I hope that after the rename, there's a Plaque or something that people see, before entering the hall, on who it was originally name after and why the name change, so that people dont forget the history.

    That's more like how it should be done. You can't and should not erase history. Only how we view it changes.

    It’s history people get used to it it’s all around you you erase it and you lose it then it repeats and you don’t know what to do learn from what’s around you don’t try to change it because you don’t like it learn from it people

    societies values change, so I understand not celebrating these people from the past. But I'm concerned with the narcissism of people demanding the whole world around them change so as to not offend them.

      That's cause these important aspect of the lives of these so called historical figures have been deliberately hidden from the "whole world". It is everyone's duty to uncover those aspects and stop revering them as some sort of hero's and plastering their names on anything and everything.

      Sure, if you think that changing the name is "even better".
      The question here is; is that really true, or is it giving in to the sentiment and the people behind this movement? People who you'll never satisfy, people always looking for the next thing to complain about.

      I don’t care for SJWs or censorship, but their point is the meaning behind the name. We can take it to the extreme and call a new intersection Hitler Ave and 666th St.

    Removing a statue of someone that had bad beliefs isn't going to make racial tension around the world better, all your doing is erasing history that could be learned from. And as the philosopher, George Santayama (1863-1952) said "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.".
    He was also a essayist, poet and novelist.

    These people don’t realize that the names they accept today will be reviled years from now.
    But they seem to love the virtue signaling of how much they care…
    Too bad they haven’t read enough history to understand the fallacy of their pride.

  • @sanjays4121
    @sanjays4121 4 роки тому

    Completely disingenuous exercise. Remove Calhoun's name but retain Yale's name? This simply shows they are in no mood to genuinely disown the legacy of those who once funded them, regardless of how that money was earned.
