- Chelsea stunned Bayern Munich in a dramatic penalty shoot-out at the Allianz Arena to win the Champions League for the first time.
Thomas Mueller's late header had put Bayern on the brink of victory on home territory but Didier Drogba leveled things up with a bullet header at the death before coolly converting the decisive spot-kick.

The Drogba header still makes me tear up to this day. What an absolute legend. The Cech save on the PK in extra time so huge.

Tbf given it was the final chance for much of that core Mourinho built, I would love to see a last dance esque docuseries for Chelsea that season seeing the likes of Cech terry Cole Lampard Drogba, then the likes of mikel and then others from that squad who were there, having their say on what happened that season.
After the pain of Terry's penalty in 2008 and the shocking decisions and Iniesta goal in 2009. It was all worth it for this moment

I am still very emotional about this match. Each time i watch the clip, i always shed tears joy. This match indeed is a source of joy to me.
As a chelsea fan, whenever I feel sad, I watch The semi and the Final of this UCL, it always bring tears in my eyes, but it is worth every drops of tears. Getting the revenge on Barca for the robbery of 2009 and then defeating Bayern in their own field to achieve the championship, The coolest victory in The history of CL in my perspective.

That said, in this game our team was just so clutch. Our keeper made the saves he needed to, and the ones he wasnt expected to. Our defenders made the tackles they needed, and blocked the shots they needed. (except maybe bosingwa😆) Our midfield won the duels they needed, and played a good pass when They got the opportunity. And our hero in attack scored when we needed him most!! 💙💙💙 #blueisthecolor

1. Drogbas penalty and header brought me to tears...back then and right now, still. It was his destiny , truly.
2. As a CFC fan, i still remember where i was when i watched this match and how nervous i felt all through and how happy for days on end after we won. It had been a long campaign to get there through the years. Drogbas life needs to be a movie @netflix.
3. Petr Cech really got tested in this match. I always admired his composure and his skillset as a goalie. SO GOOD.
4. THIS TEAM WAS MAGNIFICENT! Petr Cech, Drogba, Lampard, John Terry, Ashley Cole, i really miss the Chelsea of those days but glad i got to see them play.
5. I still get nervous watching the penalties despite knowing the outcome 😂
6. Football is funny. David Luiz and Kaka (not Cfc) were such a big deal back then and now i dont even remember them. I hope they are well. Football is such a shortlived career. Wow.

I was in Denver Colorado at one of those pubs in downtown Denver. Its was packed with people from all over the world, standing room only. This is the first game, I had to fight back tears when Drogba made that header, didnt think anything could top it, let alone in the same game. That final PK topped it, easily.

This defeat would've broken any team, but Bayern Munich came back and finished the job next year getting the CL final win. I don't know how they did it overcome it (they played better than Chelsea that night, missed penalty, lost the big lead they had in the penalty shootout).
