    *walks into stationary enemy 10x in a row* "Why is this game so hard?!"

  • @daytimesky

    I read an interview with this game's creator years ago. It was interesting. The guy who was in charge of this game admits it had serious problems, like the play control. He said he assumed that jumping and not changing direction in midair made it more "realistic", and therefore better. However, he later realized it only made the game less fun.

    • @Fistwagon
      @Fistwagon 7 років тому +21

      Strange how that idea works for the original Castlevania games but almost no other games.

      I think part of what made it work - a huge part of it really - is that Castlevania's gameplay was built around its play control and mechanics. This game clearly wasn't.

      Haha, someone should have told him that ducking and running are consistent with the laws of physics. Nothing unrealistic there.

      The website that interviewed the creator is some monster-oriented website run by like a single person. So it was basically a monster fan interviewing the creator of a monster game.

    I finished this a couple of years back and didn't think it was that terrible. It starts out extremely difficult, but once you find more items it becomes a cakewalk. There is a backstory to the game. Spike (full name Spike O'Hara) found a glowing skull in the cemetery and brought it to one of his teachers. The skull began to grow and started to summon monsters that took over the school (Cool School High. GET IT?!). Spike decides to stop them once they kidnap the head cheerleader, Samantha Pompom. I enjoyed it because it reminded me of all the cheesy 80's and 90's horror movies I grew up with.

    I love this game, I got it as a little kid and played the crap out of it. I still play from time to time. I don't think it's that bad at all, except for the hall of Frankensteins later in the game. Great game!

      @silenceofthehills 7 років тому +2

      Are you talking about the hall with the clock chime music? Actually, if you haven't figured it out yet, you can destroy the clock in the principle's office with the bat, and that removes the music in the principle's office and the hall, and which removes them.

    YES, there is a point to having you walk through the whole classroom to get the stuff. This game was going for SOME level of realism with the design. They wanted it to feel SOMEWHAT like a real school.
    It's actually not a bad Metroid/Zelda 2 clone for the NES. It's just confusing as hell if you don't know what you're doing.

    Oh god. I remember this game.
    There's a dead body in this game. only one. Something about a melted face, and if you touch it, you die. It's supposed to be either in the Gym portion in this game or the kitchen, I don't remember. I also remember that there are "Hidden characters" that the manual teases you to find, like the monster made out of notes and a skeleton.
    I also remember a interview with one of the guys that worked on this game, and the reason why it sucked was because they never gave this to a test group, and the outsource company that helped with the monsters just made eyeball monsters everywhere. This game was supposed to be way more diverse.

  • @Dragonking1984
    @Dragonking1984 4 роки тому +1

    I love this game hard has hell to beat legit. But there's a glitch that allows you to go behind the walls. Once you get the spring shoes go into any locker (wearing the sneakers) then while still in the locker (hold up to stay in the locker) switch to spring shoes then let go of up. If done right you will be behind the wall. Now you can go almost anywhere in the game and are invincible. You can still kill monsters collect items and interact with the world. Just don't use the lockers again or it will undo the glitch.

      It never fails, people play a shitty game, squeeze whatever enjoyment they can out of it, and claim its everyone elses problem that they don't have the same shitty taste. lmao

    • @DracXBelmont
      @DracXBelmont 7 років тому +3

      But ... it really isn't that bad. I love M&B but they do exaggerate the shit out of things more often than not when it comes to games that they're usually just bad at. Of course, this isn't true for every one of their videos, as some games they play that they say are shit ARE -- but it's a recurring theme with them. Which is fine, I don't really care, I've found games they like shitty and games they think are shit I like, I don't watch them for review purposes, I watch them for the entertainment value.
      Anyway, needless ramble, but it's not too far of a stretch to say it's the player's fault.

      Aww Ghoul School was great! What do you consider a good Scooby movie? Scooby goes to Hollywood? Scooby and the Cyber Chase?

    Huh...I gotta say this is quite the calm and kind of low-energy play video.
    I just came from Team Four Star playing Raging Blast 2. To compare them to this...
    Watching TFS is almost like taking cocaine - it's crazy, it's all over the place, it sends your heart-rate skyrocketing...
    And then watching this is like the sweet time when you're coming down from the high, and you just wanna exhale and rest...

      devournzt Pretty tough but I'd say Valis 2 for the X68000, Castlevania 4 being a second

    You guys should play 8-Eyes on NES. It's 2 player, one person controls the player, the other his hawk companion. You could even switch back and forth. Difficulty is high and it's a pretty cryptic game. But the music's good and it reminds me a little bit of castlevania.

    My favorite feature was the 5 second loop of music repeating over and over.

    I still like this game, but maybe I just like the idea of wandering through a haunted high school full of weird enemeis more than the actual resulting game.
