The most underrated ridley scott movie 100 times better than the other versions with one of the greatest score in a movie of all time just because of the score is worth the price of admission in the theater
I was teen when I watched it in a movie house and... wow!!! So the last part is a bit violent for me, but I really enjoyed. Depardieu, Sigourney, Karyo... the music of Vangelis... really in my top 10 for ever! Some scenes were far from history...so, this is a movie. In my favorite Depardieu's character with Monte-Cristo and Germain Chaze.
As a Dominican with Taino heritage I find it one of the worst Columbus depicted stories ever. Yet its also one of Ridleys best for me after Blade Runner. Not to mention the late legend Vangelis.
Italy and Portugesse LIARS. It was a totally Spanish Enterprise. Columbus lived and had family in Spain last 7 years, rejected genoa and portugal too. Dam jealous dirtyliars.
Hollywood need to make a great trilogy of sorts of a Columbus movie done right. Not rushed or inaccuracies gotta make it as authentic as possible with a great score like this one. I don’t wanna hear the bs on what Columbus is looked at now.
Sadly liking Columbus in this day and age has been made equal to supporting Adolf Hitler it seems. Totally forced and undeserved. Just post-modern historical revisionism at work.
Probably the best worst movie I've ever seen. It's so bad it's hilarious and becomes good again, but the score is amazing. I heard rumors of a troubled production and messy rewrites...
Vangelis sits and improvises a complex electronic orchestral piece with the ease of drawing a straight line…

I saw 1492 during the first lock down. The movie is for adults and has lots of darkness but it's a beautiful movie. Very underrated.
👍
Brought here due to Vangelis passing away. Rest in Peace Maestro.
An uneven film, but with some stunning moments. And the score is amazing..
I have been waiting for someone to do this. I love this film and there is barley any content about its production. Love Ridley Scott.
Yeah, it's the one film of Ridley's without his commentary track or extensive 'making of'.
Just saw this last night. Beautiful film 🎥
The winning formula of Ridleys visuals juxtapositioned with Vangelis's music.
Wow!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw this on Netflix a few years ago. I thought it was quite good and well made. It's not a great movie, but there's a lot to enjoy..
Agreed. It certainly left me satisfied and smiling.
ONE OF THE BEST SCORES EVER WRITTEN. TOO BAD MOST OF IT WAS NOT USED IN THE FILM.

Baby get a widdle scared at violence?
Hhaahh then research the history. THATS bloody.
The Americans and Italians put down THE SPANISH THAT DID THE ENTERPRISE. BASTERSS !!
Ridley Scott bast adventure movie
I remember that BBC doc being here on UA-cam before it vanished. How do you have access to it, if I may ask?
I never actually seen this movie I just remember seeing the trailer on the VHS of Wayne's World...lol.
💗🙏

A another movie about the Portuguese navigator, with a sound track far better than the movie!
Italian....from Genoa...
@@lunaliberiana NEITHER. Genoa was not part of italy but an independent kingdom with different language too. Spain was the only enterpriser.
Genoese!

Like a god

genovese, not Italian.

He did it, You didn't. Some people can't associate with with movie because they lack creativity and imagination.
