is it waterproof or water resistant?

I can't quite recall whether or not they feature taped seams, but even if they did I'd offer the strongly worded caveat that even if they did - the fact there's a big hole in the top means that I'd never trust them as fully 'waterproof'. You're best off putting anything essential into separate drybags. Aware that doesn't quite answer your question, but it provides an answer of sorts!
