Met Rory last night at concert with Eric Lewis at Woodwalk Concert series in Egg Harbor...words cannot describe how talented this gentleman is....has mastered sax, harmonica, mando, banjo, accordion and of course the obvious guitar and vocals...2nd row seats...Eric Lewis his usual amazing self!!!! what a show!!!!
Absolutely brilliant mate. Apparently this bloody 20/20 vision has been holding me back all these years. I AM a jazz fan and that was excellent. I remember going to watch Jeff Healey in Portsmouth in about 1990 ,another blind guy that brought the house down. Lots of Hells Angels. Can you see the light caused mayhem.
Jeff isnt blind. He is legally blind. I saw him hold up a little spanish instrument made of armadillo shell close to his eyes and examine it. I am a musician who was around a lot of big names in Toronto 20ish years ago, admittedly his talent is big, but I was kinda like hmmmm🤔 he can see?
@@BigWesLawns When he was almost one year old, Healey lost his sight due to a retinoblastoma, a rare cancer of the eyes. His eyes had to be surgically removed, and he was given ocular protheses.
I've been one of the lucky ones to sit in a room with Rory and watch him go about his business as only he can on a variety of all styles of music. Seeing is believing , but its really all about what our ears transmit to our hearts and souls.
We have the pleasure of seeing Rory appearing with The Carolyn Martin Swing Band each October at the Sun Valley Jazz and Music Festival. Just a phenomenal player, great singer, and a really great guy. We attended his presentation on jazz accordion, and I vowed never to tell another accordion player joke. As their steel player Mike Sweeney says “Rory is a freak of nature”
Just a little while ago I heard Rory Hoffman for the first time during a 2014 Guitar Town jam session that was recently uploaded by a channel that I subscribe to (O'Brien Guitars). I was astounded by his superb playing & unique style. Every once in awhile someone likes Rory comes along & not only bats it out of the park but out into the Universe. I was shocked to find out that there was no Wikipedia page for Rory Hoffman so someone needs to create one for him ASAP.
Very much so, just look away , wouldnt be able to tell wether its live or a studio recording if i didn't know the video. Plus the great recorded sound quality.
Just had the pleasure of watching Rory play sets with Carolyn Martin’s Swing Band at the annual Sun Valley Jazz Festival in beautiful Sun Valley, Idaho- what a great musician!!
I started playing guitar holding it that way. When I got more serious about it I dropped it because I wasn't sure I could ever sound good that way. Now I'm thinking about going back. I wonder how he's tuned it
This sounds like Don Sebesky’s arrangement for Chet Baker. Just discovered Rory Hoffman from Fretboard Journal #43 interview. Rory’s CD “ Swing Expedition “ starts off with Autumn Leaves and features some phenomenal playing on multiple instruments all played by Rory himself.
This guy is absolutely amazing. I figured he was blind because of how he plays but it looks like he’s looking at things the whole time! Before the band counts in he looks right at them it seems!
There's more Rory to hear at the final 2015 Fishstock concert 09-06-15, being uploaded now, in 2 parts. "I should be fishing" isn't one of the songs that were played, but there are many other good ones. Rory played his finest, on guitar, mandolin, clarinet, mouth harp, and accordion! What's not to like?
Jules Ken That title doesn't sound familiar, so I doubt that I have a recording of it. But everything I have recorded of Rory's is available online. I just recorded a Carolyn Martin concert with Rory on 07-03-15 (2 parts), and it might be part of that concert, as they didn't announce each song by title. ua-cam.com/video/e-KNCtRKq2o/v-deo.html
Seems like every day I find a reason to be humbled. Such an amazing player and human being. Thank you Mr. Rory Hoffman
Amazingly GORGEOUS. Rory!!!!!
As a musician there are some things that are unfathomable and Rory is one .
Amen
Nunca había llorado viendo a un músico, no se porque me hace llorar, gracias por existir y hacerme caer en cuenta de que soy humano.
I cannot ignore anything, as this master is the embodiment of beauty and life...
Wow.. I'm lost for words

@ terrymurphy1583: I have to fight my feelings of envy from time to time. Actually, right now is one of those ...
Autumn Leaves is one of my favorite tunes ever. This is perfection. I would love to hear him live.
If you like Autumn Leaves, look up Eva Cassidy, she sings an awesome version of the song. This guy, Rory Hoffman is nothing short of amazing.
you may be able to buy an expensive guitar.. but you cannot buy this kind of talent.. dayum
@radestroyer: Thank God for this!

amazing- the guy is a guitar god-

Rory hears the song in his mind then transmits through his fantastic fingers to the electric guitar, vuol`a.
Big shout out to one of the best!!
Incredibilmente toccante
and energetic sensitivity can bring to our awareness.

I'd love to hear Rory play with Stanley Jordan. That would be awesome.
Whoa, doc!
He plays in a Nashville-based group called the Gypsy Hombres. Check 'em out.
Wow
Awsome :D
넘 훌륭한연주~~

🤯🤯🤯🤯
I might take a chance on my left eye to play like that....!
Brother don't do it! It's definitely tempting though!
Man. This isn't even fair. You're not allowed to be that good.
rory+ a gypsy guitarist would be great to hear
just put my guitar on my lap and tried to pick a couple of notes. all i got was confused buzzing.
I wish I could play guitar like this guy plays ........piano....or guitar......or?

Got some Lenny Breau influence in there?
Great stuff.
Hot diggity Damn. That's goood.
Hey, I was an under classman of Rory's. I am looking for his song "I should be fishing." Any chance you could upload it? :D

who are you typing to?
Thom Bresh brought me here
スゲー!!!!!!!
JOE PASS LIVES
Is he left handed?
Yes
I heard that he's actually right-handed. Can anyone here confirm?
This guy is a descendant of god
Damn i used to find solo jazz guitar to be relatively boring. That's because i hadn't discovered Rory Hoffman
He's got a giant pinky finger!!!!!
Dat comb over!
dumbass comment.
In the face of such extraordinary God-given talent, and that's all you can come up with?
So, he's playing a right-handed guitar, left-handed, upside down, on his lap.........plus, he's blind?
WTAF?!?! 😲😲😲
Some people have ALL the talent.
@@Shermanbay
I play guitar, a little, but ffs, this guy is a monster! 😲😲😲
The craziest part is that he barely even looks at his freting hand the entire song!😱😱
What do you think he would see, since he is blind?
wait is he blind?
Yes.
Well I’m never gonna play guitar again
I Love IT..but it's a real booger to dance to...
