So use low interp if you're good and can aim, high interp if you're bad because you're gonna miss anyway so there is no downside, but now good players will miss you.

I don’t know why cl_interp 0.5 even exists.
In a way if you know how to use cl_interp to your advantage, then you can get backstabs that under normal gameplay would sometimes count as backstab when they shouldn’t or visa versa even more consistently.

Trickstabs (especially facestabs) are really the unintended consequence of the rather buggy hit registration system TF2 has.
Interp just exaggerates that the higher the value.
Trickstabs are a reward for skillful positioning and dumb enemies

@@Fares-ps1yc it doesnt do anything. if the hitbox would be smaller we can do trickstabs either. it comes with pure skillfull play.
There is nothing buggy about the hit registration. On local servers it always works as intended, there are zero known bugs associated with it. Anything that you see that doesn't seem to make sense is a result of latency.

Man Interp could totally be a plot tool for a tf2 anime or something. Like the age old plot where there is two ultimate masters, in this case they could be the best spy mains i guess. Nobody could beat them, They were unstoppable. But every time they dueled each other, one always reigned supreme. Eventually the lesser spy master discovered the dark command known as "Interp" and abused the power. After short practice with the command's power, the lesser spy master challenged the greater spy master. Be it in mge, most points, you name it, the lesser spy won every single time. When the greater spy found out about the lesser spy's sin, he left feeling betrayed by the man he once called a friend.
Then the whole new spy protag comes into play, eventually duels the interp spy from before, gets his ass handed to him, and vows to defeat him. The spy protag eventually finds the greater spy from up there ^^^^^ and is taught the ways of skill. Maybe stereotypical but eh, i'd find it entertaining.
Sounds like star wars episode 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 and 6

The issue with high interp is that other players see you where you were 0.5 seconds ago, so it is usually a bit easier to get behind somebody on high interp

Thanks for doing this. It was a misconception that made the game annoying for both sides of the fight.
Saw a swipez video and I immediately clicked and learned from the master not to be an awful person and not to be a laggy spy.
i agree with everything except the fact that its harder to play with it, i get more backstabs with 0.5 and i felt filthy using it, immediatley switched back to 0.0325
thank you so much, a lower interp made me play so much better (I used to have cl_interp 0.035000) but it always made me mess up because when I would back stab the hit box was way before the model, making me do a fail stab

Yo ok finally a vid on this. Although on degroot servers you can absolutely destroy anyone if you change your interp settings. It really should be forgotten but it is just sp fun to use sometimes

Yo do you think you could list your config settings? You seem to play issue free and am wondering why I cannot. I don't like to play default settings because of the 100 ms delay (bumping into spawn doors and projectile) and when I lower them, projectile delay is gone, but I rubber band in crucial moments. I'm never in fluent movement and am always snapping back to old spots and falling off edges because of this. My internet connection is 60 ping. Do you think you'd have any config settings that would eliminate the delay plus stop rubber banding?

My tf2 was always laggy and I didn't knew why and now I know that my interp default setting was 0.5 for some reason so after 2 years of constant lagging I can finally play normally
I always thought interp would mean getting a stab from a differnt position but what about cl_interp_ratio do i also set it to 0.015

I have a very poor internet connection, so it's usually around 150-300 ping for me, and can spike as high as 999+ sometimes. Honestly cl interp 0.5 looks pretty cool to play because at least it's consistent lmao

There is a lot of 900 ping cl_interp 0.5 spies around recently. They backstab you from 2 meters away.
I once got facestabbed by a spy 6 metres in front of me. It was on a 2fort server and I could clearly see the spy
I knew none of this. Hell, I never understood all these command stuff until recently. I somewhat understand now. I am a new player so there’s been times where a spy kills me from far away. I thought it was probably lag or that they had moved fast enough. I even thought they were hackers. I came to my conclusion that it is probably because of this setting
they were using auto backstab lmaobox, backtrack and fake latency

I was once on a Hightower server and getting lots of facestabs and trickstabs. So the enemy team thought I was using a high interp, and tried to use interp against me.

So you could bind keys to certain interp values and then magically teleprt behind people if i understand correctly? By just pressing the keys and the server then detects the change in settings and teleport you? I dono pls correct me if im wrong

Okay, so on a server I just played there was this spy who was stabbing people whilst directly looking at my face from a very far distance (real measurements I'd say 2-3 meters, IDK what that is in in-game measurements). What was this? People said it was interp hacking but as you just demonstrated it couldn't be. He had 700 ping as well. Thank you if you reply :).

I just reake 2:10 if this sniper went for a taunt kill he could have gotten swipez on a 50 percent chance either him dying

Im late but I'd recommend cl_updaterate 25000 and cl_cmdrate 25000 too, also a high rate
