Totally, that lapis... it all looks so good. And the fact that damascus has that star pattern through it and the theme continued through out the handle, just perfect. What a beauty.
Hey Kyle beautiful Bowie, the lapis is stunning. Hey I’m a knife maker from Canada and a lapidary artist. In my Experience working with many different Gemstones the soft backed diamond nova wheels work amazing for achieving a high gloss polish. The wheels can run up to 14,000 grit and then a light buff with cerium oxide on a leather pad works amazing. Oh the Damascus on that blade is fantastic 😮
I swear to God, I was on my bike riding home from work yesterday evening and I thought, 🤔 it's a long time ago Kyle posted a video. Aaaaand here you are! Can't wait to get home to watch it😊
Normally, I'd see a notification for a 50 minute video and I roll my eyes. But Kyle Royer or Blacktail Studios videos and I know my jaw will be on the floor in awe while I watch. To me, you're both PhD degree level craftsmen. Respect from Manchester, NJ, USA.
As ever, I am absolutely flabbergasted and blown away by the attention to detail. The bright cuts are a small addition that make an ENORMOUS difference in the appearance of the final piece. These videos always inspire, but this is a whole new level, at least for me.
One of the best pieces you've ever done. You will go down in history as one of our generations greatest bladesmiths with your amazing demascus patterns. Someone commented your pieces will be in museums one day and I absolutely agree. Please don't stop making knives and the patterns your mind comes up with
I have never watched a video of yours. It was truly breathtaking you caring so much about the most minute details. The end result speaks for itself. This is a blade worthy of a god. Insane. I'm not joking when I say that my eyes got a bit watery in the end.
Added bonus for this piece. The inclusions on the lapis handle will react to uv light with little flecks of orange light. I can only imagine how beautiful that knife would look under a blacklight
you tell us how satisfying it is for you while making these blades. dude, it is so satisfying for me to see you doing such detailed and beautiful work!
Sir , pardon my impression, I think the reason of why your such a genus is because your family sticks together ❤️ as a team, oh I know it makes you look responsible for that fact but anyone paying attention can see you are prepared for it by some amazing parents and a remarkable Brother not counting everyone who's added to your journey. I also love the fact that you know and abide in gratitude and humility . Be exceptionally blessed young padowin! As always , live long and prosper 🙌 🙏 yours bbh
To a fellow knife maker, that is one of the most amazing blades I’ve seen. I love the use of stone in handles. Jay fisher is another of my favorites when it comes to gemstone handles
This has been my dream profession since I was a young man. Watching your work and passion has been re-stimulating my desire to follow this dream. You do amazing work sir! I will keep watching and learning from your masterful craftsmanship. Consider me subbed for life!
what a masterpiece! The level of craftsmanship, artistry and love and attention for detail is stunning! worthy of a king, i hope you get paid like one, because you truly deserve it for this work!
When a person acquires a unique degree of knowledge and experience, he becomes a master at what he does. For me, one of the greatest cutlers I've ever seen, certainly one of the best in the world. Congratulations and all the best always.
You are the best example that a real master does not need to be dead serious. Your work is probably the best craftsmanship I have ever seen. Like seriously❤❤❤
The blade looks like a piece of jewelry, and the detail on the guard is stunning- when fantasy authors describe knives/swords THIS is the image they are trying to convey! This is higher level of excellence I'm not even going to talk about the sheath. Great build!!
This is absolutely gorgeous. And what makes it even better, is that you shared the journey with us, so we don't just see an impressive masterpiece of art, but got a glimpse of what went into that.
I hardly comment on videos, probably because I'm too lazy to. This knife is absolutely perfect! Your narration is inspiring and your satisfaction of your perfect work is incredible. Well done on such a masterpiece 😊
Amazing work! As a cabinet maker I notice a destinct difference with the use of materials between European and US work. In Europe materials have not been so abundant so the finished product reflects the preciousness of the materials. In the US money seems to be no object so you see lavish use of materials... Where I would use expensive veneers on a cheaper material, in the US they'd use solid wood, sparing no expense. Incredible journey and what a great result..
To get a perfect finish on minerals use a fluffy microfibre cloth with cerium oxide powder. Works better than diamond as even super fine diamond is more aggressive
Take a shot of your favorite adult beverage every time Kyle says "Background"!!!😂😂😂😂😂 All jokes aside, this is definitely an amazing piece!!!! You inspire me to put this much attention to detail into my wood working projects!!
And "chatoyance". Kyle is the first person I ever heard use that term. I rightly so. With the mastery of his work, I guess he should be able to lay claim to that word.
Work of art. I can’t get over how much craftsmanship goes into these knives and the perfection you expect out of yourself is uncanny. This is a museum piece for millennia
Kyle, you’re simultaneously your own biggest critic and greatest fan. It’s one of the things that makes your videos so enjoyable - apart from your absolutely incredible craftsmanship of course
Charoite. And now lapis lazuli? You are going right to the top of beauty. Of course. There are quite a few that could be on that list. The granites in the table top world are amazing: Juparana Bordeaux, the many black/quartz mixes, etc. And your starter blocks of charoite and lapis... wow.
A level of passion, expertise, knowledge, scrutiny, attention to detail, commitment and sheer brilliance rarely seen these days. Your work is exceptional and beautiful.
When u do something u love, it shines through in your attitude and the result. People will always gravitate towards sincerity and your succes shows it all. Great job man!
Awesome work. Just blows me away everytime I see one of your knives all finished. Masterpieces for sure. Thank you for posting so we can all see this artform at its best.
This is by far one of the best and brilliantly informed educational UA-cam channels I've ever happened upon, I can quite comfortably sit and watch you for hours on end, thank you ever so much for such a brilliant and well produced series sir.
In general for polishing gemstones and semi gemstones, jewellers also often use Aluminum Oxide powder too. (just mix the powder with water untill it's a paste) Also very important to all watching and new at the process of stone cutting. a lot of mineral stones like lapis, or jade or anything like it, a lot of prescious stones belong to the Asbesthos family, so always wear protections around your face most of all, but also wear gloves to prevent cross contamination, and always cut with plentiful water to avoid heat buildup, but also to prevent the dust from flying all over the workplace because it is a nasty kind of dust :)
Every single finished product i have ever seen from you is always a one of a kind masterwork. You make some of the most beautiful blades the world has ever seen, surely. And the fact you do things like engraving by hand is just. Wow. You truly have a gift and the things you make are on a fantasy level of beauty.
You make such beautiful art! Functional art is probably the best description of what I mean. I’ve been following your channel for years, always enjoy seeing both the process and the final product!
That has to be the most beautiful knife i have been able to watch being made. You have a marvelous talent. Congratulations on such an accomplishment. Thanks for sharing and i look forward to seeing your future projects.
Gotdang.... that is far more than just an heirloom, that belongs in a vault to be admired for centuries because with that level of craftsmanship it will last until archaeologists are theorizing about us. So incredible, so stunning and my god so expensive too. Your materials suit your care and love for the craft my dude, exceptional work.
I follow quite a few blacksmiths on UA-cam and this is by far the most beautiful bit of craftsmanship I've ever seen. Jaw droppingly stunning. That Damascus is phenomenal
Wow!!..That is the most awesome looking knife I’ve ever seen in my life. You really out done yourself this time Kyle. Thanks for sharing your amazing talent
How do you put a price on such a priceless object? If your day was going bad watching an artist and craftsman like Kyle makes it better and if your day was going well this makes it great. There are no words to describe a master who is so humble about his work. Thanks again.
Master craftsman spending six months with a masterpiece result, plus materials, I'm going to guess $100,000 original sale price, and then appreciation over time.
You are an incredible artist and bladesmith. This is one of the most beautiful knive's I've ever seen. I could see it in a king's hand. Excellent job!!!
As a chainsaw and big hammer guy I'm literally in awe of someone who can take raw materials and craft something as beautiful as this. I bow my head to you Sir. Kindest regards from Scotland.
kyle you push the limits with each of your blades and once again you prove that you are simply the best. I'm already looking forward to your next creation. Hi from Québec, Canada
It’s one of the most beautiful man made objects I’ve seen in my entire life. If only I could stand in the same room and see it shimmer in the light. I’ve been 3” away from the Hope diamond, and now I need to see this in person before I die.
This is amazing! Everytime I watch one of your videos i think "He can't possibly make something better than the last video" but you surprise me every time! Awesome job man!
Congratulations, you are a great artist. It's like being alive at the same time as Michelangelo, and it's like being able to watch him work. Hugs from Brazil.
This is absolutely incredible, it blows my mind to imagine someone can create this with their own two hands. I don’t know how you do it. Absolutely stunning, amazing, incredible, beautiful. Words can’t do it justice.
I’m starting to like stone handles now. I haven’t seen such a hilt construction so intricate since I’ve started looking at artisanal knives. Talk about being blown away by the craftsmanship.
Everything about that blade is a work of art. You make the legendary items from video games and movies, real artifacts that are beautiful. Wonderful work Kyle!
This wouldn't look out of place in a royal collection of treasures. Well done!
Exactly what I thought! This is a kings blade!
Not really, it would stick out
these are better than kings blades. modern tech is awesome
I disagree. It would stand out over and above most of what you find in a royal collection.
The blue would make it stand out, but in terms of fanciful design comparison, it's mid!
This belongs in a museum with people admiring it for 1000 years
It looks like he's been making knives for 1000 years 🤔
Another piece that would not be out of place in an age of myth. I wonder how many of your works will end up in museums. Fantastic work.
No question, this is one of the most beautiful knives I’ve ever seen. Great job.
It would look right at home amidst the Crown Jewels ...
it really is.
Totally, that lapis... it all looks so good. And the fact that damascus has that star pattern through it and the theme continued through out the handle, just perfect. What a beauty.
You can tell he is proud of this one. And holy smokes he 100% should be. That’s amazing.
This is probably the nicest knife I have ever laid eyes upon. Your work speaks for itself and I could listen for eternity.
Seeing that finished knife almost invoked an emotional response, it was so beautiful.
"Almost invoked an emotional response"
felt that brother
I'm sure you have heard it a million times, but your craftsmanship is next level. Very impressive.

I subscribe to both😂
Great minds think alike!
Yep, same same.
So, anyone else enjoying 8h videogame analysis vids?
I wonder if Cam and Kyle watch each others channels

Your father taught you well! You have taken knife making to an entire new level. That is a quality beyond anything else!
The talent from Kyle absolutely blows me away. I'm speechless with every knife that he builds. VERY nice work!! Absolutely amazing craftsmanship.

Geez Kyle, that's beautiful. At this pace you'll be the royal armorer of some European royal family before long.
