You are correct about your audience, we want you to just be yourselves, do what you want, as it is your three that interest us, not what your doing or playing really, and im glad you have stayed that way.
Hey Guys, just thought you might be interested to know that you're super close to ten years on the main channel and I'm just a bit over 9 years subscribed. Started watching in secondary school and now about to start my first job in the games industry. Thanks for the thousands of hours of entertainment and joy. I love all the videos you do and am very grateful. Cheers bois.
Love these! It reminds me of when you did trials and just went off into random topics that covered conspiracies to real life politics. Always been a fan of the Hat Rant ^_^
Ah talking about being a good person. I live by a simple rule: "As long as you hurt no one; do what ever makes you happy." The caveat being that "no one" does include yourself and "hurt" can be physical, mental or financial. Live by that and I think you'll do alright for yourself and others.
From my personal experiences, I've found that what Smith says at 1:05:44 to be very true. It's a lot more harmful to push yourself to do something you really don't care at all about than it is to do something that's meaningful to you. I mean, if you really care about the subject you're learning and can't wait to get to move onto to the next level or advance in that field, then that's great! But if it's the last thing you want to be doing or learning about, it's definitely better to focus on something you do enjoy, at least in terms of mental health I think Smith said it pretty well when he said, "You don't need A-levels for that, you just need to care". It might be necessary for some people to do well on A-levels _in order_ to do what they care about, but in the end, caring about something you're doing is the most important bit! I do hope the education system will be improved on and changed eventually, cuz the amount of pressure it puts on students is ridiculous and pretty unnecessary, at least from what I've experienced
@@jamesdunne2426 That's great to hear! There are always parts of every subject that aren't as interesting as the rest of it, but having an interest at all is definitely important! Also, the evolution of man does sound like a pretty interesting topic
I’m a conservative that lives in Arkansas and I am glad to hear all of your thoughts on issues globally and here stateside. I find it quite refreshing honestly and it makes me think more dynamically about issues. I think the more we have discussion and conversation with people who may not be like minded to us the more enriched our society becomes. Keep it up boiks.
As far as your content.. and every other person i subscribe to is for the people not the game or event. If the content creator is doing what they enjoy and isnt preaching to me im all good.
Guys, that FaceApp thing explicitly says that it stores your photos on a cloud server. Also, it straight up *doesn't work* without internet access. You have to request for your data to be removed in their settings menu but it quite *literally* stored photos and made that clear to everyone.
I love the content boiks. Mostly because of the chats you all have. From minecraft, human fall flat, even trails (which I had no idea was a game until I saw you guys playing it) the entertainment I get from just listening to you guys doing things together is appealing. You're doin a great job, and thanks for countless hours of entertainment.
In terms of what Smith said at 51:28, I'm playing a game called Persona 5 atm and I guess spoilers, The villain of the game is literally what Smith just said
I love these more mature chats. Don't get me wrong, I like the stupid jokes from the main channel, but it's good to see a more serious vid every now and then.
at the same time though, if you try to remain neutral you look like an inhuman lizard person, and will face prosecution from others for either not having emotions/ an opinion, or for not taking their side. What i take from it is, the democratic system is designed so we can all be selfish and vote for what we like for whatever reasons we may have, and if most others feel the same then it will pass, if not, then you deal with it or move somewhere to where other like minded people are
Love these Hat Chats. Personally, I watch your guys’ videos because I find you all very entertaining. Even if it’s a game that I’m not very interested in it’s your personalities that is the reason I watch them.
I enjoy your serious conversations probably more so than the 'entertainment' aspect of you guys, but I do like both. EDIT: Also Ross, completely agree with having your own racetrack and everything, money no object, would be amazing. Thing is though, you don't actually need lots of money to get into the hobby.. Sure some of the shows/builds you see on UA-cam are expensive, but they're mostly sponsored. Your average enthusiast just buys the right parts here and there. It adds up overtime and is really great feeling knowing you upgraded the car that you're now driving. And if you get a good sound system, throw on some Qlimax from early 2000's, for some hardstyle rave music, as you blast down the motorway with an engine roaring with all the new power you've added. (I've revisited some Qlimax VODs recently, and my nostaliga meter exploded; THOSE were the days)
With the Alexa and google stuff, you were saying that its hard to be traced back, but people have very much traced voices back and managed to get peoples post codes, doctors details ect. That was revealed very recently and has been on the news alot. Amazon employees listen to 1/500 audio recordings which are often normal conversations, not Alexa calls.
Smith should read up on project COINTELPRO. Very interesting and dark stuff There's also a film been released recently called Seberg that centres on Jean Seberg, an actress who's life got colossally fucked over by it
not very likely. the Hat films crew are more tailored to making content for youtube/ Twitter with complete control to how and what. topgear is a BBC style made for tv program. the hat crew would be forced to change to the BBC style with almost no power in what will be going on.
Yeah I agree the constraints may force them to change I just think in general they would make a great top gear crew and they all seem very interested in cars new and old so I think it would be cool to see their take on things and challenges as well
Glad to see the Hat boiks are doing well, I dare say working for UA-cam can't be all that good for your mental health especially with them being as open with their audience as they are but hopefully the opportunites to go on holiday and stuff help.
You guys should match all your volumes. Currently Ross is very quiet and Smith and Trott are clear. Trying to hear Ross I'm straining my ear drum. Maybe it's just me?
To contribute to the A level topic. I finished my A levels this year and the other day all my friends went to pick up their results, I got texts from multiple friends asking what I had got and I replied with 'I don't know' because I wasn't bothered by my results and didn't go to pick them up, I still don't know what I got and I don't care that this is the case because uni isn't important to me, i've said for a long time that i'm not going and people have told me i'm mad and i'll regret it but if I'm happy where I am or if I want to take time to think about my future then why get hung up about grades and mainstream opinions that uni is the only way to have a career (which is what most people at my school - including some teachers - would lead you to believe). Anyway I just wanted to put this out there and say not everyone cares and I only really went to 6th form because I had to. Also I agree with the boys that grades don't matter, I have a job and I'm happy where I am for now - I have some idea as to what I want to do in the future once those options actually become available to me, there's always a way to do what you want to do (in terms of work and careers) your A levels don't define you.
discussion of the impact of social media on attention spans reminded me of the Bill Maher monologue where he called big tech ceos "tobacco farmers in t-shirts"
Alfred Spaffy was right about space, the health effects from being in space or other planets will be a serious problem. We're built for this environment, living with less gravity would be catastrophic. Until we can generate gravity ourselves, we won't live very long on Mars.
Frankly. I mainly use Hatfilms as background noise when I do other things. I just never really have the drive or want to sit down and focus on their videos completely. Might have to do with their humor often swinging between "The lads are together" to "I'm a 3 year old kid giggling my head off because my father just farted".
Most people: oh no, big companies will have access to my face, name, address, email, etc. Me: meh, I don't care as long as the information isn't used to directly harm me, and I don't want my parents to find out about my web history, apart from those two conditions, take as much info as you want.
Anyone interested in the phreaking stuff Smith mentioned, google: "secrets of the little blue box" for a cool article about it. Think it was an old esquire article.
Surprised they never mentioned the nutter that 'tried' to prove the earth is flat, by going to the public and asking them to fund his rocket build and every time he'd get to launching he'd make up some lame excuse.
I'm from the US and I'm always very interested in your perspective of our politics. I think it's kind of a shame people bitch at Smith for his rants. I don't agree with some of his views, but he's a rational and reasonable person. You don't need to be completely and perfectly knowledgeable about everything to be able to discuss things. Tbh I'd love to get his take on some more serious/controversial issues, like guns and self defense, abortion, free speech, those real "woahhh nelly let's not even go there" topics, *regardless* of whether or not he agrees with my views; just because he seems like he's willing to give people the benefit of the doubt when talking about difficult topics and is open minded. Probably more than I am if I'm honest, although hopefully I'll become more so as I grow older. Imo those are invaluable traits in this day and age of tech company censorship and people being so butthurt over simple political discussion. I've never really understood why people can't calm down and be patient and reasonable about disagreements. I suspect a lot of people kind of, idk, tie their identity and personal sense of security to their opinions and if you disagree, they view it as an attack on themselves? idk. food for thought.
I'm not a Republican, but here's some information that might recontextualize your opinion on Trump: Lots of Americans (possibly over 40% of the voting pop) are unconcerned with what he says, and care more about/support his actions. He, like many Republicans is perceived to address issues economically as opposed to Democrats social response. For example: Instead of using government resources to build rec centers or other programs in inner city areas, Trump created "Opportunity Zones" which allow investment in these areas incentivized by low property taxes. Also, most people are probably aware, but the intent and effect of the corporate tax cuts are not to put more money into the hands of the rich. They allow more investment into the business and its employees. Hundreds of large employers across the country voluntarily raised their minimum wages to $15 after the cut because they could now afford it. Not in every circumstance was this legit (I believe Amazon cut benefits after raising the wage), but overall it really helps employees. My own family benefited greatly from Trump's increased tax return values so we could actually afford a vacation this year. The return increase affects any married couple and couples with children, which in turn is good for middle and lower class families. Conservative economics does not mean "rich get richer" and liberal economics does not mean "poor get richer." It's obviously much more complicated and the conservative policies generally put more money into the hands of small businesses and corporations to revitalize their wages and investments. Calling any politician or their voterbase or even their ideology "evil" is dangerous and irresponsible. Regardless of why you dislike Trump and conservative policies, they are generally intended to help most people, just as the Democrats' policies are.

We have to try to be mindful and not be so extremist when it comes to political things, and maybe in all aspects too. Be kind to people. Hey Bois, just a bit of feedback, the bit where you showed that comedian having his face turned into brad pitt's is a bit annoying to listen to, because there's 2 people talking over eachother. maybe next time leave the video you're talking about on mute, so we can hear what it is your talking about.

I find I just don't care. I figure I usually don't do anything illegal, and eventually I'm gonna die and my data will be obsolete to me at least.
it's more scary that people can't find it in them to care. we are so fucked lmao

Gutted your burning out on MC already.
I don't think they meant that, they were just talking about if they should continue to force content if they do find themselves burning out.
He really doesn't
