I just bought two 50 foot flagzilla lines for Hvlp painting, but I am super confused as to why the Flexzilla 3/8 internal diameter line would have quarter inch fittings. This seems to be standard for all the brands, but I’m having a hard time with this, what good is it to have 3/8 line just for it to restrict flow at the quarter inch, makes the 3/8 part of it useless. I don’t get it. They do sell 3/8 line to 3/8 fittings, But I haven’t seen one on the shelf
excuse my ignorant but I remember putting my thumb over a garden hose and experiencing an increase of pressure. Perhaps these are two factors taken into consideration. Maybe the 1/4 fitting has became a standard like you said, but what I think it all comes down to is your hvlp gear specs. in short terms, what I mean is bigger hole doesn't always mean better.
Pro detailer here, my Biz partner and best friend works at the port painting, he said they never use flex zilla hoese cuz the plastic cracks in the heated paint booths. neither of us had any idea flex had metal threads tell i found their PRO hoses a while ago. Getting our air comps set up for our shop as we speak :3
Reminds me of a creepy movie where this guy's about to cut someone open and take their organs
Did you have any leakage issues with not using plumbing tape?

The flexzilla fitting has a bigger hole than the traditional 1/4 fittings, like 60-70% bigger. This seems to be the new standard for 1/4 fittings.

You forgot Teflon tape
My boss told me that the plastic threads are no good

They are metal, not plastic.
