    Dude your images are insane!
    Ah, you're tempting me to go full into astrophotography... must resist...

    Legend - what a great location (threat of plummeting to an untimely death always enhances the excitement! 🤣) with awesome skies.
    There’s always room for at least a hip flask in a camera bag…

    That pano is crazy! Love the dust in the upper part. Tho you should be holding a beer for a proper "John Rutter selfie" :D. 24mm and its sister lens, the 20mm are definetly suer lenses for astro - great optical performance and really light weight, which is just a bonus if you are doing long hikes.

      @johnrutterphotography  Рік тому

      Ahhhh I didn't even think about the beer selfie...... next time 🤣🤣. I'm super impressed with the new lens, but can't see myself going wider than 24mm

      "can't see myself going wider than 85mm" - you in 5 years! 😂😂
      Ever thought about a Benro Polaris btw.? Great video!! Thanks for letting us hear your thoughts on that lens.

    Cool!! I like a touch of flash myself. Well done! Strange of the 24-Art. I tried the 24 & 28 art and bought the 28mm over the 24 as the latter had really strong coma where as the 28 did not. But, this was in Nkikon F mount flavor. Amazing Images!!

      Thanks mate, it's the new DG DN lens not the same as the old 24 dslr version.

    Stunning image John, great composition as always. I've driven past Coolah Tops many times, but never stopped to explore. Your video has now inspired me to search off the beaten track. 😁

    That's a great image John, crisp and clean and full of detail and colour. The location looks a bit hairy on Google Maps and worse on location at night. Probably a good thing you only had a few amber fluids on the shoot. 😊😎👌

    Magnificent image and video John. Love your content and the sneaky beer 🙂. Was tossing up between the Sigma 20 or 24, think that decision is made, cheers.

    • @johnrutterphotography
      @johnrutterphotography  Рік тому +1

      Gotta have a sneaky little beer, for me the 20 is just a little to wide for my work whereas the 24 is a really good compromise for panos or single images

    That’s a great image John, Rho Ophiuchi and the Dark Horse above the mountain on the left has that little pip pointing to it, and the valley below gives depth and the selfie adds to the image. 👏👏

    Great result John, hoping Sigma start producing lenses for the Nikon Z mount sometime soon. Been exploring a few techniques from your editing session on some images captured over the weekend. Pushing them harder than I would normally and loving the results so thanks for the inspo👍

    I always find your shots out of this world. I like my own Milky Way photos very much but man, you’re on another league. Congratulations! I missed the Q&A a couple of months ago and I have decided to buy an Astro modified camera, If you were to buy new gear, what camera/lens (lenses) would you recommend. Thanks and clear skies!

      I havnt used other brands much so I'd probably stick with sony as it's what I know, and with lenses we are so spoilt with good choices from oem and 3rd party like sigma

    Absolutely epic picture mate. I’ve recently done my first pano and am pretty stoked with it. Your videos have been key in me progressing as I have. I’ve been thinking about focus stacking. How is that done with the pano? Do you stitch each row then blend?

  • @DLMVegas
    @DLMVegas Рік тому +1

    You have the best pano's I've seen out here on UA-cam. What focal length do you find yourself shooting at the most for your pano's? I'm finding that I get to many ugly stars and the stars are too tiny below 20mm. Thanks for all the videos. Clears skies and stay safe out there in the wilds.

    • @jmart_4
      @jmart_4 Рік тому +1

      I've done both 24mm and 50mm panos with good results. 50% overlap and Photoshop/Lightroom do pretty good job stitching together. I'm also curious to hear others experience

    • @johnrutterphotography
      @johnrutterphotography  Рік тому

      Cheers mate, 🍻 most of my panos are at 40mm but each focal length has its positives and negatives.

    • @DLMVegas
      @DLMVegas Рік тому

      @@jmart_4 Thanks for the response. If I can ever get rid of the winds and clouds here in Vegas I try 24-40 mm and see what works best. Not in to really huge pano's.

    Great video as always John, any reason in particular for getting the 24mm rather than the older 28? Debating between one and the other myself!

    • @johncarter591
      @johncarter591 Рік тому

      This is the Mirrorless version mate so can't compare it to the older 28mm

    • @johnrutterphotography
      @johnrutterphotography  Рік тому +2

      From the research I did, this new 24 for mirrorless performes better than the 28, that's why, I originally was going to get the 28.

    • @davyp93
      @davyp93 Рік тому

      @@johnrutterphotography cheers mate, had been debating between the two, love my 40mm and had been leaning towards the 28 as but if the 24 is similar performance that's tempting! Look forward to seeing more from your 105 too! So many lenses so little money lol

    Hi John, what was the white balance of the camera when you taking the night photos? Is it a bit yellowish?

    • @johnrutterphotography
      @johnrutterphotography  Рік тому

      My white balance is custom due to the astro mod but I aim for something close to daylight WB.
