I first saw Diamanda play in 1984 or 85 at the Stud in San Francisco. I was awestruck.
This is Diamanda's "Exeloume" performance, which I think means "Deliver Me". I think it is beautiful. It sounds like the most unrestrained spirit flying free. It sounds like a very exotic lament, ululating eastern chant. I love it.
Yes, it was as close to a "religious experience" as anything that I have ever experienced.
She's so FIERCE!

Jealous! Her voice was in it's prime back then. She can't really do the high notes now
