My solution to this before was to just shoot full res and then I measured and taped a piece of paper to my LCD to compose the images haha. Thanks for the tip man. Will definitely try this out.

I like the xpan format in print but mostly prefer 16x9 or slightly more cropped in for viewing landscapes on screen. Not sure such a crop works that well for street except as a novelty. But a fantastic discovery Tudor!
I have the gfx100ii and I use the “X-pan” mode all the time, except it never applies the crop. When I take the photos of the sd card they’re always still 4:3.. which is stupid, that being said I still have to crop them, does anyone know what aspect ratio that is?
If you buy a sigma dp 2 quattro with foveon sensor is way cheaper than a new xt5 and you can get better results with 21/9 format. Btw great video and nice color profile 👍🏻
Sigma SD Quattro and Dp have 'xpan' crops, even wider, actually. Slow camera's, only work with low ISO (stay under 800) with the great Foveon sensor, but a hoot to use, like a film camera. Just an affordable tip.
Apart from the (supposedly excellent) XF 18mm f/1.4 lens that you mentioned, what other Fuji lenses would you recommend using this technique with? Would the XF 10-24mm f/4 at 18mm be suitable?
Also, interested in your and other people's opinions...what's so special about the 65:24 (=2.71) aspect ratio? Wasn't that chosen for practical engineering reasons on the XPan, not for aesthetic reasons? Isn't a 5:2 (=2.5), 8:3 (=2.67), 17:6 (=2.83), 3:1 or other panoramic aspect ratio just as good, depending on the circumstances?

I think Xpro4 is around the corner and it will be a marvelous camera. I believe it is not out yet just to avoid eclipsing the X-T5 and XH2 cameras which are selling like crazy now ahead of Christmas. When Xpro4 will be out, everyone will want to put their hands on one copy! If I were to get into Fuji now I would get a cheap used Fuji body and wait for Xpro4
Sigh. Nobody should have to use a grid at all, because all anyone has to do is frame the photo in roughly the middle third of the viewfinder with the level on. The only thing that is remotely necessary is the 28mm equivalent lens to match the Tx1/Xpan native glass.

28mm or even 24mm, and you can go wider. But the examples are with a 28mm.

I'm not a big fan of it, indeed. I think it's because it's so unique is what all the fuss is about.

Okay, I downloaded the XT5 and XH2 manuals, no go. That sucks. For some reason, I thought they came with a 65:24 option...
