im from indonesia, omg thank you brother because of you i almost wasted 1 million rupiah looking for a usb hub with lan and jack 3.5 in one usb hub but most of them sell them separately and once they are there they are very expensive and now i am very relieved without having to waste money 😂😂😂😂😂
I been on this road for many years and tried many adapters but like a year ago i found the perfect one for me and that is the GS1 3 in 1. its like 12 euro and has 1 x 3.5mm and 2xusb c ports where 1 is for pd charging. IO love this adapter for on the go and when im at home i use my bigger hardware
As usual another wonderful video, and Tim Apple song 😂 Ugreen is fairly enough for me as it has an accessible price and good quality! Thanks great Jakob
Bluetooth MIDI is almost good enough. I seem to run into latency issues with it somewhere between 16th & 32nd notes. The more I think about it, the more I find I can’t really get upset about dongles. I need audio interfaces, MIDI interfaces, and USB hubs with my computer. I’m not sure how I could not need those things with an iPad. Yeah…the lack of the headphone port exacerbates the situation but not much. The bigger problem is the mess that is USB. We have three different connectors…even before you start counting the mini & micro ones. And it doesn’t look like the USB-C everywhere future is actually coming. The two things I really want are (1) more USB ports on the iPad so I don’t always have to reach for a hub and (2) a mobile audio interface, MIDI interface, and USB hub all-in-one. There is Arturia MiniFuse, but it really needs more USB ports.
As for wireless audio - I don't like BT headphones because of 1) latency - synth - live 2) one more device that needs to be charged, plus the battery will eventually die and most likely it's not replaceable 3) I don't like the fact that BT waves is always close to your head (I don't know if it's dangerous in long perspective, but you never know :) So I use sometimes a small BT 3.5 adapter with a "replaceable" battery which can work as receiver or transmitter. So you can plug-in any 3.5mm phones you have. And it's small enough to put it in your pocket or pin it to your collar with a clothespin.
I have one of those Sabrent ones laying around from many years ago. I needed to plug the headphones/mic in separately and the mac would override the audio every time I plugged anything into its headphone jack so it was a cheap solution. I later replaced it with some kind of soundblaster usb sound card that had better software and audio.
I was told that it’s better to use one of these anyway because if you plug in a usb hub that includes an earphone jack, the iPad will not play audio out of its built in speakers, just like as if you had plugged in an actual pair of headphones. But w/ one of these you can just not use it and still be able to hear audio out of the speakers while having a usb hub plugged in for other uses.
😂 I hate it too dude. I tried a usb c headphone dongle from one of those Amazon companies ($5). It was great!…. Lasted 30 days. I have a couple nice interfaces that require power bank. But I just use the Behring ear 202 which doesnt eat battery and has rca in and out plus headphone. These are $10-30 and well worth it. Yeah it’s cheap but it’s lasted me 2 years and I am rough on stuff. Worth a try for people on a budget and it is truly the most portable solution for an interface. Weighs nothing and costs nothing. It’s like 4x 3in x 1.5 in.
Nice test !!I was about to look for a 3.5mm option I had anker but i didn’t had a great experience when charging iPad w all and apple bricks type c . But the anker like many other work w the 3.5m. O issue but I did find when your using this some don’t have the ability to charge iPad only that type c is for usb drives no incoming pd . Also the there’s once that are bigger hubs that have that ability charge iPad and has detachable type c and 3.5mm even vga hahah but they aren’t cheap nor small but give you full access like in laptop of ports .. iPads w lighting has this issues I though I would’ve had a better experience on type c but nope I encountered more compatible issues for iPads heheh but again this is what we have so we have to deal w that😂
I have the aluminum version of the sabrent and I think this is the clear winner as the microphone jack can be used as a line in to record into koala etc. also, y’all gotta check out the Belcompany lightning usb hub! It’s a game changer!
There’s an aluminium version of it? I’d love to get my hands on it. It might not be valuable in my region. I tried finding several of these with metal housings, after putting the video together, but I wasn’t successful. Seems there are some region restricted products on Amazon. If you e got a link to the product I’d love it if you could share it!
Why I use iPad 9th gen over 10th gen it still has the aux port it really sucks they got rid of the port but with the 9th generation I can use aux for headphones and bottom port for mic 🎙️ no hubs
What about the headphone sound quality? I have Philips wired headphone and will be fitting a mic to I need to know if it sound tinny or missing ant quality?
Thanks so much for the advice. I was wondering if maybe you could do a video on what settings can be adjusted in the IPad itself for music production. Or, do you know of any videos that cover this? My iPad Pro is strictly dedicated to music production and I’m wondering what I can do to maximize it’s resources. Is there certain Apps I can get rid of?, Airplane mode?, Dark mode? Etc. Thanks again. 🤙🏼
Hej Jakob, regarding the 329kr hörlurs-DAC from Luxorparts… How does the does the DAC-part affect the sound of that? If any at all… Was thinking of getting one. Thanks for awesome content.
It’s good and quiet. However it’s also one of those DACs that output a lower signal than most other headphone port dongles. So you’re not getting as much volume out of them.
Thanks for the video! I was literally just searching this topic when this popped up! How is the actual sound quality if you would plug in a pair of Sennheiser HD 25's in the UNI hub through the UGREEN adapter? I just switched from my Apple usb-c headphone connector (which sounds fine) to the headphone port of my nameless-but-pricey-usb-c hub, only to realise the sound coming out of the hub is rather sh*t! Does the combo you are rocking sound decent enough? Like for example compared to a regular headphone output? I have a proper interface I can connect to, but i'm looking for a hub/combo for on the road so i can rock headphones and an Akai APC Key 25! Cheers! :)
Yes, we are right to hate this dongle hell invented by Apple. Although, I don't think the ultimate solution is to go wireless and a few comments here already mention why this is far from ideal. I think the ideal solution would be for Apple to re-instate the headphone port. I don't believe there ever was enough justification to remove it anyway. The history of recent Mac Book Pros shows that even this company can be forced to backpedal on some of their terrible tech design decisions. For now, I've been steering clear of their iPads without headphone ports, but let's see how long this will keep me going...
To be honest, that’s what I want mostly too. For them to just reinstate the headphone port and make it so that iPad Pro’s have two usb-c ports and also an mSD slot. Something like that. I just don’t have enough faith in that actually happening I think. 😅 I still use an iPhone 6s over here because I don’t want to let go of the headphone port. It’s what I record all my video materials with still. 😂
I have a usb c dongle with a usb c port to connect to power or hub it also has a headphone port I paid £7 and have been using it for 2 years no problem,I just have a pair of headphones with a 3.5 to usb c permanently attached I’ve never really had a issue
Den låter bra men insåg efter att jag gjort videon att man får mindre volym ur den än andra liknande produkter. Har vart med om det förut även med luxorparts andra donglar.
Told ya to go for a hub with headphone output on it and you said it was useless for you at the time. Good luck with all those dongles and adapters on the road 🤷🏻♂️
Like I said in the video, I didn’t need it since it was my studio hub and here I use my pro sound interface all the time. After making this video, I have mostly brought a USB-C headphone dongle with me which has been the most comfortable way of travelling. When I’ve needs something else, I’ve brought the TE TX-6 and a nanoKEY studio. Great setup. One cable for the mixer/interface and the keyboard connects wirelessly with BLT. When I come home to the studio I just have everything hooked up to my studio hub and ready to go. Travelling with a USB hub and loads of equipment have proven to become cumbersome and I’d rather keep it on the low with travel gear.
@@JakobHaq good for you. I rather have a single hub that covers it all instead of confusing myself (or the audience) with studio or travel gear. And like I said before, I also have a complete interface on the studio which doesn't mean I don't use the headphone port on the studio as well. Its handy and serves lots of creative purposes. If it exists, why not? Why then recommending tons of dongles, extensions and cheap adapters? It seems you went through a lot trying to find a good hub, the right dongles and cables. IMHO there are way better options than this combo you developed. But it also seems you want to find out by yourself instead of exchanging experiences. Well, good luck.
Why can't the most profitable tech company in history be bothered to drill a tiny hole in a $1000+ "professional" device? Because they can be even MORE profitable selling dongles and expensive (if high quality) wireless ear buds! So they may sell lots of buds, but they will not be a "bud" to their customers, who clearly HATE not having a frickin' headphone port!
Thank you very much. I hate Apple for this stupid downgrade. Good solution example video will be more useful for Apple. I need a headphone jack and two type-c port for example.

Apple is so desperate to be "high tech" that they screwed us by removing the headphone jack.. So now, we still have to use wires, just with more components. I have an older iPad with a headphone jack and a newer, much more powerful one. I use the older one 95% of the time due to the convenience of not have to use a headphone adapter. Thanks Apple.
