Ivw watch over 40 videos on plumbing and this video is at the top, well done, Im not a plumber but im learning from utube and now your videos too...great work bro!!
Be useful to see a parts list to see where you get the various bits of gear from, particularly the drill pipe cleaner, nice to seeing you doing long form videos.
Brilliant video… workmanship is top class!! Thanks for taking the time to show us all how it’s done. Much appreciated! Keep the great content coming! 👍🏾
Me gustan tus videos, sobre todo la calidad de tu trabajo. Tengo una pregunta ¿cómo sabes cuando se alcanzo la temperatura correcta para aplicar la soldadura? Saludos desde Chile.
Nice work as usual Like your vids Ignore the trolls You know what they say about opinions.lol Myself...the only time I look down on someone is when I'm helping them up😊👍
Great video as always . What flux is in the fluxator can you put your own in also I have seen you use it with Compression fittings what paste do you use in the fluxuator for compression fittings ? Thanks 👍
@@darrengould4668 hey bro I got mine filled with laco 👊 I have one for flux and I’ve filled one with jointing compound for compression. Really has improved my productivity massive and saved my clothes getting covered!
The refrigeration training labs were all polished and clear coated... keeps the copper clean and shiny on the outside for decades as the labs were from the 90s and looks brand new. Not a bad idea to paint copper in a refrigeration setting as long as its not the heat exchanging side of the copper.
Crimping is faster, but expensive fittings and press fit tool And can be used when water is in the pipe .I prefer solder as I trust it and think it looks better . All types of fittings have there place mate , everyone will have a different opinion
Nicely done mate. Do you happen to have a link for those cleaning pads? I bought some that i thought were the same colour, but they dont seem as good as the ones youre using. Cheers
@mmplumber thanks. The longer vids are great mate. After years of doing small plumbing jobs as a handyman, I'm finally booking on to a plumbing course this week to get some formal qualifications. Wish me luck.
@mmplumber - was there any reason why you sprayed the laquer on top of the dried brasso (not polished off) as surely that should be apply brasso, polish off brasso, then apply laquer to shiny pipework.
@mmplumber lint free cloth. No static dust collected then, so laquer is smooth finish, not bitty. I only do it on visible piping such as rads or accessible cupboards like airers. One thing I don't do is use the scourer as that changes the surface appearance. A good dry clean cloth post the solder cooling or scrunched up disposable Jay cloth, then brasso it... results in equal tarnishing and doesn't look patchy. I'm not a pro but have found that some copper supplies have tarnished faster than others. Whether that's quality or not, not sure. For me, if I was going to use scotchbrite, I'd have to make it all the same. OCD? Lol .. don't make work when you don't need to 😉
Interesting to watch another plumbers methods, it’s easy to get set in your ways when your working solo all the time. How would you say the techers pipe cleaners hold up over time? Would you say you get a good few uses out of it before the brushes need to be replaced? I’m pretty keen to get some, just debating whether it’s worth getting the techers ones. Thanks
Make sure after you spin forward you take off the pipe and spin reverse. This will reset the brushes and don’t swap directions on the pipe, do it off the pipe
Why are most soldering videos about copper pipes? That's the easy part, soldering a pipe to lead free brass (mixing) valves, or even more difficult, soldering a brass fitting into a valve, eg when you want to add a PEX sweat adapter lol
It stops the flux dripping down the pipe which is what the solder can follow leading to solder snots. If you while it before heat it’s easier to burn the flux causing the solder not to flow round
@mmplumber almost all silver solder in Australia. Soft solder was the old way of doing things. Funnily enough a few old heads who have been around for a while say soft soldering is a stronger joint as the copper hasnt been annealed under as much as silver soldering!

This is amzing knowledge and techique. respect you from south korea.
Brilliant - I especially liked the tip about heating the fitting then wiping off the excess flux - Very helpful. Cheers MM!
Yeah I find that better than wiping before heat
As the inventor of soldering i give this video my blessing.
Thank you my friend 🥰

I love the sound of the job. No music

Cracking vid mate, been using this technique for sometime with the exception of the end polishing steps.
Great stuff pal yeah I thought I’d include sone extra if needed to have exposed copper on show
Cheers pal, I’m an apprentice and this video really helped.
No worries bud it’s all in the prep
Howd you get an apprenticeship? straight after school or

excellent thank you very much teacher best regards
Bought some of those fine scotch pads and I'm upset I didn't get some sooner, they work so well after you solder!
I only show quality pal glad it helped!
Great, we want more of these videos, good luck😊
Glad you like them mate if we get good views I’ll keep doing them

Awsome technic mate thank you
Thank you! I appreciate the watch time mate 🫡🫡🫡
Thanks, MM, 👍👍. Nowt wrong here. I do it slightly differently, use wire wool with gloves.
Thanks mate I’ve honestly not used wire wool in 5 years
All personal preference i guess, but for me wire wool, flux with a brush and a standard torch head works perfectly well :-)
It will work for sure! Just showing other methods and using different tools 👊

Can you tell me how you determine when it’s better to use crimping versus soldering? I’m just starting out, and crimping seems easier to me. Thanks.

Depends if tight pipework, space, environment really

how long do you keep the flame on the fitting? 20cseconds?
You don’t need as much heat as you think, it’s easier to get a leak free joint with less heat than too much
❤
Big love thank you!
@mmplumber - was there any reason why you sprayed the laquer on top of the dried brasso (not polished off) as surely that should be apply brasso, polish off brasso, then apply laquer to shiny pipework.
Simple mistake! What do you use to polish off the brasso?

One thought on the tools.. is that flexi burner available to fit the auto shut off regulator and what do you prefer, nap or butane?
What about if you're soldering under the floor mate?
Same prep but just get enough on there! Leaks cost more than solder

Make sure after you spin forward you take off the pipe and spin reverse. This will reset the brushes and don’t swap directions on the pipe, do it off the pipe
are you R or L handed? For reasons I cannot explain, I use a torch with my dominant R hand and solder with the left
I’m right handed and use torch in left and solder in right
Why are most soldering videos about copper pipes? That's the easy part, soldering a pipe to lead free brass (mixing) valves, or even more difficult, soldering a brass fitting into a valve, eg when you want to add a PEX sweat adapter lol
Because it’s the most popular
It’s the same concept and more frequent
So you have a link for the blow torch?
Just google javac flexi torch
Are you from the UK?
I am pal
@ can I get your copper Bender in the US??
Why do you wipe away the extra flux after heating the pipe a bit? It was hard to hear what you said.
It stops the flux dripping down the pipe which is what the solder can follow leading to solder snots. If you while it before heat it’s easier to burn the flux causing the solder not to flow round
Can I follow these instructions but just go the other direction in America and get the same results?
Sure why not 🥰
Do you guys silver solder over there?
Yeah mate what do you do?
@mmplumber almost all silver solder in Australia. Soft solder was the old way of doing things. Funnily enough a few old heads who have been around for a while say soft soldering is a stronger joint as the copper hasnt been annealed under as much as silver soldering!
That's not how you use brasso! Got to Polish it off afterwards then give it the old spray spray
Polish it with what bro? Teach me!
@mmplumber micro fibre or a shammy cloth.
Nice in studio thanks for sharing some tips, but in real world, who has time to do all of that polishing. Won't get much done.
