I rate Deschamps, because he built a respectful team with no tension. Even though his tactics are not spectacular, he reads the game pretty well and does not hesitate to surprise the opposition with cynical tactics to take advantage of its weaknesses. Basically players get along well with each other and do the job.
Similar to Carlo approach.
i think his early subs in the WC final made me personally rate him higher. understands that even some of their best players have to be subbed early

pythagoras how do you analyse so well? do you have generational overview of the game or do you rewatch the games many times? or both?
I used to analyse school games even as a child, so its kinda been a trait I always had. I don't need to rewatch games as I have a short attention span, but can pick up shapes etc quite quickly.

I would love to see how you grade left backs, because as a Dortmund fan I was already thinking you were overrating Maatsens offensive ability down the wing. But calling Mendy the best balanced lb is ludicrous, all top wingers cook him and I rarely see him contributing to the attack in any meaningful way. But I agree with a lot of your other evaluations so I’m confused with how far off base you seem on one specific position.
The standard of modern balanced full backs is at an all time low. There aren't none. Luke Shaw and Mendy are two of the names that come to mind, that is about it. Compared to all timers he wouldn't get close.
As for Maatsen, I said he was arguably the best attacking left back in Europe last season alongside Grimaldo - another sign that full back quality has dipped big time. Can you think of any others?
@@PythagorasinBoots yeah now that I look into it you’re not wrong, a lot of the stars from the last few years disappointed this season. Udogie had flashes of absolute class attacking and thanks to his athleticism he’s not too shabby on the defensive side. Gvardiol was an interesting development towards the end of the season. Antonee Robinson doesn’t have the talent or technical ability to stay at the top but I was really impressed with his hard work this season. Other than that Gutierrez gets a small shout out for his offensive work. Still Mendy has been a ghost in most of the ucl knockouts but at least that’s better than being caught out and hurting the team.

Thuram I said can either be winger or CF option. Has good relationship with Theo. Underrated player who has grown at Inter. Muani useful in transition if games stretched

deschamps is a bit like southgate, because he does not achieve the full potential with the players he have. He relies on individual ability, no outstanding tactics

i kind of think RW is equal between England and France, cf Kane is better, and Mbappe is better than anything England have down the left. Tbh Foden might be better than both Saka and Dembele if the game is right. Thuram doesn't look great.

@@PythagorasinBoots Upa and Konate having played at Leipzig together and having chemistry will be a huge factor for the starting XI no matter Saliba s performances.
@@PythagorasinBoots Its because at Arsenal he plays for the best defensive coached team in the world and he rarely has to defend 1v1s or large spaces like Upa at bayern ( with no midfield) and Konate with the High line.
