I, also 50, last saw them in the mid-90s in Germany. They even gave autographs before the show and walked around with us fans as if they were one of us. :)
These guys were so good live!! By far and away the best death metal band I've seen live in the 25 years I"ve been going to metal shows...too bad we couldn't get a pro shot version of this performance with multiple camera angles. The fog machine used in their performance adds a special ambiance; that of a supernatural element of the occult manifested through their music. I love it!! 🤘
Agreed. Saw them like 6 years ago for the 1st (and only) time and they seemed to be so into; like really enjoying themselves performing; not just going through the motions (to be paid). Left me with the feeling that I MUST see them play live again
@@erenn6476 , i saw them for the first time in Belgium in 1990when they where on an epic tour with Morgoth and Demolition Hammer, 3 super livebands, but Obituary did stand out!!! I've seen them quite a few times since, never dissapointed
I had the absolute grateful joy of working at the Warfield for 2 solid years in 2002-2004, a lot of shows, i would paint that stage alone and relish the history and go through te tunnels and intestines of this venue and entire block and business owners and everything. I believe it’s the BEST venue on west coast/america and maybe globally. Organic and amazing vibes and tales. ❤
Simple, effective and to the point. Some people criticise Obituary for not evolving over the years but I think that is their strength. They do exactly what it says on the tin and are extremely good at it. If you want progression and flair go and put some Devin Townsend on. If you want some heaviness, Obituary won’t let you down
Brutally sounding good after first hearing this band 32 years ago, well done to the Tardy brothers and Trevor Peres for still being apart of this iconic band in 2024.
Saw them headline in '92 in Wichita, Ks at the Coyote Club. Openers were Cannibal Corpse, Agnostic Front, and Malevolent Creation. My ears haven't been the same since. It was a brutal time and loved every minute of it. Thanks for the upload!
As usual, Obituary being amazing!! I wouldn't expect anything other. As they have been for many years. So looking forward to them closing out Bloodstock 2025.
@alabastersmidge4692 I remember Pantera w/ Morbid Angel and Soulfy doing a show 45 minutes away back in 2001, some people I knew from high school went to that show but I couldn't make it unfortunately. To me, they were lucky lol but I did end up seeing a lot of cool bands and met a lot of cool people over the years
I would think Obituary is more popular these days than the current version of Sepultura. The most interesting thing about that line-up was Eloy. You bring in a new drummer then market this as a "farewell tour"... You'll see a classic Sepultura reunion within the next couple years. The money is too good. With all these half-assed reunions, Sepultura's members are all still alive. They could easily take over the metal crown again.
That was one of the reasons I didn’t bother with getting tickets for these U.K. shows coming up.Love old school Sepultura and have all the Derek Seps stuff. But to me they should have got another name, apart from the last album they never really blew me away. I want to see Max sing his songs not Derek. Was only really bothered bout seeing Obituary again, and then they’ve gone and booked a tour of the U.K. in December with Sadus.
I wasn't born but I'm jealous of anyone who got see bands like this in their prime playing with other incredible bands in their prime- usually for cheap as well.

I listened the first 3 albums only in 1989-1992 in Kyiv (Ukraine), but now, this sound, this scene, it is very cool. I do not fan Black Metal, buti see some paralleles with Sodom, i see that i miss else 6 albums and lost a lot of interesting in this way. Fans! Could you please, help me and write me the list of all songs from this video. I recognized or remembered only the last track "Slowly we rot" 😊 (the 1-st album)
It really annoys me when people a band (and especially the singer) sounds better than ever when they clearly don't. But these guys still sound fricken incredible. John in particular sounds as good as ever.

What a shame.
