Just like everyone here has stated: • a metronome is a complete MUST • each note should be held for its full duration, not for a semi-staccato random length • the focus should be on getting the timing perfect at the slowest possible tempo before attempting to move on, so as to avoid choppiness and incorrect technique that you will ultimately have to “un-learn” However, on the positive side: • you have the pattern almost perfectly memorized • you seem to have a drive to want to learn, otherwise you wouldn’t have made the video at all 👍 •you aren’t snapping back at all of the criticism in these comments, which means you have very strong patience, which is also a MUST for learning piano My advice is to follow all of the correct advice and keep playing for as long as you enjoy it and/or desire to become better! A for attack, B for betterment, C for control, D for dexterous, and F for fastidious. Keep rocking! ❤️
for me (at least what my piano teacher told me), try to count it LOUD at first and then gradually do it by heart. By doing so I really seldom have to use metronome and have built up a pretty good sense in speed :)
Ya seriously great feedback I've recently started a channel and have done only an E scale demo to this point. So to see this comment as I have Hanon excercise 1 in me , to see this comment non but love i like it Great stuff 🎉😊
Several problems here #1 you can't play this at 108! You need to slow it down to the speed you can played it comfortably and evenly at and take it up from there. Also #2 your fingers are double-jointed and bending back. Curl your fingers more like you are holding and orange. You can't get force playing with more flattish fingers like you are currently doing.
What you're saying is very factual, all these things are correct, props to you. She needs to slow down because her fingers are clearly not strong enough
I love how the people that are really into music kept the "If you suck, you plain just suck, go practice" regime and attitude in a world that keeps becoming an all positive, useless, and nice place It feels one of the few areas that quality must not suffer, and you are responsible to step your game up or get the fuck out of it
Elena Nito they've definitely still helped even though I stick on the slower side. Love your videos btw! Been use them to help get a feel for how the songs in Alfred's 1 should sound
EniaPiano would like to see your progress now. Staccato notes have a dot under the notehead. Hanon part has no staccatos. Just FYI. Not trying be snobby tho.
Great effort! These are very tedious excersises. The problem youre facing is lack of finger technique. Your fingers should be curled like sqeeuzing a tennis ball then push down with the top of your finger. Also the excercise is meant to play legato. What i do to even out all the note lengths is to play the excercise on only one position, for instance right hand middle c left hand one octafe lower and stay on that middle C. And then focus on fingers and making long even notes. Practice with a metronome and then slowly increase the speed. Feels comfortable? Then go through all the notes. Good luck!!
I can play the 2nd and 3rd exercises at 108 bpm, but they sound terrible. I'm incapable of playing both hands at the same time and getting a "clean" sound.
Don't worry about it. If you can play the exercises at 68, 80 or 90 pat yourself on the back. Playing piano is supposed to be enjoyable unless you're aspiring for some certificate or competition. ENJOY what and how you play.
The book says 2/4 quavers with 60 bpm per crotchet at the minimum. That's 240 notes (keystrokes) per minute. At the highest (108) it's 432. Am I wrong?
as a wise man named bill wurtz once said, "that looks to me like a pretty severe creativity-killing procedure. it's almost like the exercise was designed with the power off"
Sorry, you need to strengthen your fingers and increase metronome by not more than 5 to 8bpm every week, practicing daily 20 minutes. Stay in time, be strict. Your staccato is uneven and at the higher speed you are falling apart completely.
Maybe she's not aspiring to be a concert pianist. Play for yourself and if the note is cut short or uneven so what. I'm about to dump my teacher since she is very strict about tempo, lifting fingers, yada yada. All I want to play is simple tunes and if I make a mistake so what. I'm not aspiring to play at Carnegie Hall.
Ya lo creo que son un dolor de cabeza. 😅 Sí que he notado algo de mejora en la agilidad de mis dedos, pero es frustrante repetirlos una y otra vez y no ser capaz de llegar a los 108 bpm.
Don't move your arms so much and lift your fingers so that your fingers won't get in the way. I don't play that well but Im only 17 but I played for thirteen years so.....yeah

Unless you're horowitz
Come on guys it’s just some more experienced guy giving comments on how to improve
I know that this doesn't sound right, especially the second part. 😢
But I needed to try. 😀
Elena Nito I just got this book and I haven't even muster the courage to go to the third page lol
Yeah, these exercises are quite discouraging. I've been working on the 2nd exercise, but I still can't play it faster than 95 bpm. :(
Elena Nito they've definitely still helped even though I stick on the slower side. Love your videos btw! Been use them to help get a feel for how the songs in Alfred's 1 should sound
Elena Nito how? ex.2 is very easy
@@EniaPianoGreat job. Lol I've been playing for a long time on Hanon and I still cant get above. the 4th page 😅😮😢
“Lift the fingers high and with precision” i guess that’s what you did
noo he didn't
HANON EXCERCISE 1 IS LITERALLY ALL MY TEACHER USED TO CARE ABOUT
WNAT HOW 😟
Great! I'm learning such as you
It isn't perfect but this video was an inspiration for me
How play Hanon legato or Staccato?, I would rather Schmidt exercises, and play in all keys or rythm variations
The book says that each note should be played " very distinctly", so I suppose that it should be staccato.

dont giveup !! will be good
Just started these. 60bpm seems like quite the challenge. 108 will take forever to get to.
no i just started yesterday
i got to 80 bpm

Elena, estos ejercicios son un dolor de cabeza Jajaja También me llevó meses tocar el primer ejercicio.

I've never seen fingers bend backwards so much. I hope that you don't get injured.

These exercises are great. Just a little tip... don’t move your arms at all. Use only your fingers strength
Your speed was not even while playing reverse 🧐, each note should have even interval
I think your fingers are flatish a little bit
Wow!
I need letter notes for this!

Love it !!! Great demo!
This exercise helped me alot!
you still need to practice it much more slowly
108 sounds weird
Lo siento pero no creo q los haces bien ya que al final lo haces un poco fuera del tiempo y com una dinamica extraña espero que te lo tomes a bien😉
The unevenness between the hands!
true
You have beautiful hands
