Gabriel It is not just about property tax. Everyone is supposed to have a home. And everyone is supposed to pay for that home. Everyone is supposed to be tracked by the government. If anybody could just up and stop paying bills and do whatever they want and live in a tiny home, then we would all do that. How could the government get anything done without us? Wed all be off living in our tiny homes in the forest.

Just to go on record, this policy work. In fact it is written in historical record. During the 16th century that is exactly what the Chinese did. When there was mass homeless rate in the late 15th century, the Emperor order the Prefect of every single town to build up to 100 tiny homes of this sort. The biggest issue with homeless is the danger of living on the streets, just giving them a safe place to sleep during the night is enough to help change their life for the better a lot. They rely on the wealthy local businesses to provide the homeless with food and provided tax cut to businesses willing to participate. This is not according to Chinese record. It is according to European records. The Spanish and Dutch missionaries to China observed this system. Throughout the streets of China, they can't find one homeless person.
(Just to go on record, the then China's government structure include the Imperial Government > Province and City > County and Province City
Province City and City > Suburb > Neighborhood. County > Village.) There was also housing for refugees, some of those are Europeans escaping the inquisition in Europe or former black slaves. They used similar policies to house the refugees from Europe and Africa and it worked.

  • @Great_Wall_of_Text
    @Great_Wall_of_Text 2 роки тому +135

    The math isn't hard:
    -Box house = $1,200 each
-City Built "house" = $170,000 each
1.7 billion dollars divided by 10,000 "houses" equals huge payouts for contractors and city officials.
A lighted, insulated box you can't cut with a knife equals proof that the city is corrupt, therefore the knife resistant boxes must be destroyed.
It is actually very simple. They don't want those houses on the streets because they do the job for less. They cost a bunch of people a job worth a bunch of money and make politicians look greedy and stupid.
Obviously they have to get rid of them.
Then why leave the tents when they take the "boxes"? Because tents, while being worse for the homeless and posing the same (or worse) hazards for school children, are a crisis that politicians can exploit for profit. Tiny homes jeopardize that crisis.
"Never let a crisis go to waste"

500 thousand homeless in the US while the corporation called United States has laid false claim to 1/3 of the landmass. The treefrogs literally claim "they" own the National Forest. Ask them who owns it, they will tell you "the Forest Service". The Forest Service is a corporate subsidiary of the corporate United States. They are now claiming "plenary" (absolute) ownership over the "public" lands. The Bureau of Land Management is doing the same on lands they have been trusted to administer. All of a sudden, those hired to care for our public lands (gardeners) have decided they now own those lands and the previous owners (The people) are now beholden to them. The actual federal government may only hold ten square miles called Washington D.C. and needful buildings such as forts and ports. There is your proof that we are dealing with corporations, not government. Corporations can hold as much land as they want. Problem is, these corporations pose as government and use the monopoly of force to take what does not belong to them. When the public lands were created, the term "public lands" meant land that was open to occupancy, use and purchase by the people. Now, our fake government (corporation) has turned that on it's head and stolen what actually belongs to us (the people). What if those homeless were able to make use of their public lands and develop a homestead? I bet you would see a lot of pressure taken off of cities like LA. But, if they try, jackbooted and heavy handed thugs will go into action. They love to pretend our land belongs to them. This is one of the biggest problems the people face today while they argue about meaningless bullshit. No land, no power. This is what they want; to separate all of us from the land. Wake up!

@@queman769 When people allow government involvement in everything, politicians whom we elect have self-interests, intrinsic to the institution they were elected. Groups that hold public sway such as Unions, and large scale employers can sway public opinion and whose pleasures are to be prioritized, including realtor's associations, and if associations without public sway with legitimate interests of self-preservation and service, these associations can make political donations to have access to politicians, they can make contributions in exchange for their quarrels to be heard and adhered to, serving as a template for further people who wish to receive the same treatment, which likely forms a significant portion of both respective parties campaign funds, AS WELL as those whom donate to them as a matter of principles. Washington stopped Microsoft from giving away free software simply because they were big enough to offer such, "snuffing smaller" competition with government offices. Ban political donations, and those who seek influence over the public will make contributions to those which people receive information from, such as News organizations to silently foment a bias. Do not excuse the actions of the politicians elected by the people as being separate from the interests of the people, such self-serving drivel does nothing. I say such as a Republican.

How do other countries handle their homeless ? Do you feel safe or would you feel safe living around this when a large majority of these homeless people are serious drug addicts, criminals and drug dealers? I know it for a fact. For the other folks who are low income or elderly, yes, there should be programs and maybe there are I don't know. But I do know that cigarettes are expensive and yet they're all out there smoking them pretty much doing what you. I know someone who gets more money from SSDI than I make. Yet they choose to be homeless because that's where they can use drugs, steal and do whatever they want. So it's a very complicated issue. Yes, but what would you do? A conservative approach is needed in my opinion. May not seem very Nice to some people but something needs to be done rather than just put a little Band-Aid on it and let all these boxes stay on the street. Who knows what's going on inside of them. I think by now we do know.

What about the rest of us who work hard for everything we have. For that we barely have? Actually. I'm not willing for my tax dollars to go towards someone who just wants to sit around and do nothing except maybe repeat the felonies that they have in the first place violate their parole and do whatever they can like. Sell drugs, do drugs or who knows what else steal from cars in the middle of the night because they have no choice? It's a shame. A conservative approach is definitely needed, but it seems that everyone wants to vote non-conservatively so there you go. I think that's the root of the problem.

@@singingwindrider9881 thanks for clarifying. It's hard for me to assess a place I have never been to.
U know here in Africa, there's nothing like homelessness except in South Africa which is a developed economy. Poor economies like East Africa or West Africa, you won't find homeless people except if the person has mental issues... Why? Policies.
In these countries, you can get a house to rent from as low as $10 a month or even less.... There's class for everyone because housing is so important here that it's not regulated. If u have your few thousands of dollars, you can simply erect a structure of your choice freely, literally.
Besides that, the culture of Africans is to share housing. If I have an extra room in my house I allow anyone to come stay in exchange for maybe some cleaning labour or anyways....
There rooms for rent built in shape of those wooden structure where toilet can be outside and it's for sharing.
In rural areas, housing is free and you can still build you village house using local materials.. nobody here has mortgage.. myself I do business in 4 countries in Africa but I have no idea of mortgage or credit card, we pay using cash.... And there millions of people who earn $100 monthly salary in cities across Africa but all of them can afford rent and food for their wife and kids.... In fact, a house of $100 rent in African cities is actually cute apartment..... When I try to study housing or medical systems of developed economies like USA I'm left in awe because everything would seem easy if someone is here, but hard there.... I just dont see the logic of taking the home if they just end up back in a tent. If the city has a 2 billion dollar plan then purchase some land, build a shit ton of tiny homes, and get people in them. Then when the city comes in under budget they can brag about how good a job they did and get their little pat on the back. Then when you have most of them in a concentrated area use the remaining budget to fund programs to get them placed with a job and some mental health services.

the "city" doesn't spend money, the officials who are performing the studies are paid money the taxpayers pay them. So, naturally if a solution comes around that fixes the homelessness*, which officials are studying, it leaves them with either A. nothing to study so they're out of a job, or B. without a job to pay for their homes that it gives them too close of a perspective to studying homelessness, or C. fight for your own job.
fighting to save one's own job even at the cost of others is the tldr definition of it's a dog-eat-dog world.
