Classic mini engine - first start in years

Hi,
This video shows the first start of my innocenti 1275 mini engine.
To my knowledge this hasn’t ran for nearly 20 years.
Please bear in mind that if you attempt this yourself, please be certain you mitigate all risks. Please also do not attempt this unless you have an exhaust manifold fitted at the very least. There is a risk of electrical and chemical fire so please ensure you have something to put out any fires that may start.

I did the same thing on my 1965 Cooper S engine, first start in the 30 years since I bought the car, you are correct the engine will rock violently on starting. Be careful I had the fan on. I had put oil down the bores and turned it over by hand every few months. Good oil pressure after priming the pump, and sounded sweet. The previous registered owner not the person I bought the car from, assured me the engine had been rebuilt not long before it was taken off the road. I now have no reason to doubt that assertion.

Just tried this, starter motor chugs but doesn't turn over enough to fire up, tried different battery (off daily car) and same 🤷‍♂️. Any ideas?

What type of starter motor are you using? And the most common thing would be faulty solenoid or weak battery. Failing that the motor itself or the cogs are worn
