I got baptized when i was in 8th grade. At the end of my 9th grade year, i got pregnant. I had to repent at my current congregation. Of course, wasnt no problem with me. But then, when my family moved to another congregation ( the congregation we left was going through issues), i had to repent again at the new congregation. Looking back, I understand now that wasnt necessary.
I have had the thought before that if no one comes forward its as if we are all going forward. If that makes sense? A month ago I missed a Wednesday night bible class, and was to serve leading singing as well. I was forty miles away let time slip (never done that before, I cant wait to be in fellowship and always very early even. First one at times and open the building) I called to let a brother, who leads singing as well , know I was not going to make it, "even if I left now" I said and then said "God must want me to finish my truck". I hung up and looked at the time and thought "oh, I can make it still, just barely, and Id be filthy" but went back to engine assembly. Worst decision ever. Not like me at all. I was troubled by it immediately. Prayed all night about it after the fact . Sunday morning in worship I came to tears, pricked in the heart "God always makes the way for me to be on time and never forsake the assembly" "coasted into the lot and perfectly parked with a car breaking down three different times, just enough to get me there and thats it" "God wouldnt want me to fix my truck, that was wrong to say to my brother" "this is all it takes to slip away , and can happen to any of us" "you set example by always being here, and encouraging the church to not miss the appointed times" "this isn't like you at all".... and there I was trying to get out into the isle tears running down my face, people not understanding what I am trying to do. "He's going forward? Why?" Minister preaching that morning spoke on my behalf "Our brother has come forward this morning, it might seem like not a big deal to some(my words), but his reason is he missed Wednesday night bible class. It is a big deal and to him that he did not put God first, lets pray" Only time I have went forward. Only one of three this year so far who have come forward. Each of us that have, serve, teach, preach, one used to be an Elder at the congregation. It is encouraging I am sure when church leadership comes forward. It is a good example. I have made confessions to brothers and sisters in one on one and asked for prayers, but thats the only time I have been forward. I am only two years old in Christ, but was "raised" in the church, decades. Thank God for His mercy on us to allow us to live long enough to come to him, those of us who delayed and were sons of disobedience. Thank you thank you God! God is so good to us in Christ Jesus. Thank you for another great study in God's word. I haven't missed any, or any sermons from North Colony. I tell people "I attend North Colony Church of Christ too, virtually".
