    Did she say 'like a slave in 1988?'...I digress...
    I think its very telling that the state spends more on concequense then cause.
    I think lack of parental guidance is the biggest cancer in our communities.

    Not only does Marijuana chemically hurt you with driving and other things. Drugs such as Marijuana, tends to be related to Homicides,Gangs, etc. So when you say oh yeah Marijuana isn't bad. Think again.

    I did a "social program" when I taught high school. I taught kids to fill out job applications and it got nowhere! The parents made no effort to get their kids to take weekend or afterschool jobs. Only three kids did. The main problem was that the parents were oblivious. And what would bring a kid greater self-esteem than earning his/her own money?
    Dr. Rudy Crew told me my attempts failed because of today's "bling-bling" culture. Kids are taught to expect things without earning them.

    I heard her talking too, I was puzzled my self, educated people talk with complete sentences instead of slang. My father was a black man, but no way in hell did have this kind of tongue when he spoke to other people. Who in Gods name would take you seriously if you went around talking like this.

    I wonder about this organization, I'm listening to what they have to say and I'm also observing there actions as well, how is it that these people who run this, not only talk black, but they act black, and it puzzles me to even think that a people of there status, being asian would have some kind of idenity here. This doesn't make them appear intelligent, but rather stupid, from sagging pants to hand signals, from hand signals to " kno wha Im sayin" . These people are lost.

    Theres several points i want to make, and the first one is, that there are many kids who are bound to break laws and get in trouble, its inevitable because some kids are just criminally bound...those you cant save. But for every other kid no matter what race, can EASILY get a loan for ANY community college, and then transfer inot a higher school as long as their grades are decent...after transferring into a decent school, they can THEN transfer into an even better school, provided grades are up.

    I have stood back and observed this program over the years and it is just not what it seems, there is this persona that you have to be and act a certain way just to fit in, I have watched people cut ties and just walk out of this program because everyone just seemed really troubled and the mentors seemed to be holding on to their own inner demons despite their continuous "silence the violence" marches it seems some of the men were just abusive towards women and their perception of women just disturbs me. I question that, why is it you march around this city demanding peace and non violence, yet some of your members have jumped and robbed innocent people on the streets, have sold and taken drugs and start balantly spreading lies about people in such disrespectful ways? There was so many red flags I had witnessed years ago, I don't know where their intelligence lies or even their morals, but this doesn't make me a hater but someone willing to question the society one lives in. I can't be silent about this because this world is full of hypocritical and contradicting human beings. When one speaks of justice, then don't leave a trail of victims that you have harmed and justify those actions then march in communities acting like a bunch of saints, slowly people are calling them out on that, I have seen some people walk out saying it's a complete front. Actions define a person more than the words that comes out of their mouths.

    @hork111 I actually checked out Barry Scheck's project and it they used a heavy screening process. they only took cases where there was newly presented DNA evidence that wasn't allowed to be used in court. they have overturned over 200 cases, but even then it's still rare. that's horrible that that many people were wrongly convicted, but to make an assumption like that based on 200 poorly handed cases is wrong. there are 2+ million people in prison right now. and sorry if I sounded like an ass

    Just doesn't seem real, you want to help the youth then stop acting like a bunch of thugs and act like professionals, teach them the meaning of manifesting their hopes and dreams through education, respect and showing dignity for one another, had a friend that went here and she told me how unprofessional some of the mentors are and how they were disrespectful to the girls there, I heard so many negative experiences from parents and youth that dealt with them and they are just in complete denial of those speaking out, sad, why take tax dollars and at the same time be a bunch of hypocrites.

    by highly advertising all over every school: (the idea that i stated above)where any kid can get cheap loans to start at community college and work up the school-chain by transfers. And the best part abt this advertising is: ITS FREE! No need for the city to levy more $ to schools just to speak of, and hand out information packets. And for those who already dropped out, word on the street is very HEAVY about loaning into a comm. college. Kids who claim they didnt know it was an option, are deaf

    what, hustling?
    Because 99% of kids dont do it right, and 90% of that 99% only try to do it because of what they hear and see in the entertainment business. The 1% that may actually have a clue what theyre doing, know that its not going to feed them and their families for the rest of their lives, and know that at any time they may have to stop and also know that not many people even have the opportunity to put forth the time and effort. Plus, you have to have a skill to bring to the table

    My reason for suggesting a curfew is that when teenagers are congregating outdoors in the wee hours of the morning, it's inappropriate, unnecessary, and unsafe. What are they doing out late on a school night? What if some pedophile decides to target them?

  • @TAMPORAPANTERA
    @TAMPORAPANTERA 16 років тому

    We're about to have possibly a black president, or a woman president. So as far as getting a community college loan, inequality plays no role, provided youre a citizen. If youre an american who can read/write, you can get a loan to community college, then transfer, into a university, then transfer into grad school or ivy league even. Crime is completely unnecessary and those who break laws, deserve the penalties.

    out of a million people, i know ONE dude who actually has a clue how to hustle, and trust me, he's poor as shit. He does it in the automotive business and the only reason he hustles is to TRY to get enough startup money to TRY to open up a shop out of his garage. No rich and famous people hustle, because theyre rich. They are into real legit business and stock and blah blah blah. And also, its stupid because most kids think that Hustling means selling weed, which goes against this entire board

  • @MondoBeno

    Is it possible that those who achieve success (or as you put, "eat the piece of the pie") keep to themselves because nobody will listen?
    There are few roads to success besides hard work. Alas, that doesn't appeal to some youths. The street is a lot more appealing, as is crime and terrorism.
    Read "Gifted Hands" by Dr. Ben Carson. It's about a man from a broken home who achieved success WITHOUT any "social program".

    @hawaiiankillahulua and @Aguila701: I see @Aguila701's point that the government is already paying so much to keep them in jail and there are better ways to rehabilitate prisoners that will also be cheaper. However, @hawaiiankillahulua, I don't see it as a reward for crime but as an opportunity to give tools to get away from a culture of crime. After all, the point of rehab is to remould them and not to get back into crime. The current system doesn't work.

  • @TAMPORAPANTERA
    @TAMPORAPANTERA 16 років тому

    And also, tell me a more 'creative' way to prevent kids from breaking laws? The system shouldnt have to come up with creative ways, the kids just shouldnt be breaking the laws.

  • @TAMPORAPANTERA
    @TAMPORAPANTERA 16 років тому

    All the people in this video are all in here because they severly broke laws. Most of them either killed someone, were involved in hard drugs/dealing, were involved in gangs/gang violence, or stole things. If they didnt do what they did, they wouldnt be in jail, and theyd be free to work towards better lives. No one said life was fair, but in America:freedom is fair. Everyone has the right to live, the right to own land, and the right to pursuit happiness. So what more do you want?

  • @MondoBeno
    @MondoBeno 16 років тому

    Birth control means that men and women who don't realyw ant kids won't have any. The worst kids I encountered always came from families where the parents weren't interested in setting the example. Too many women allow choose to keep their babies as a way of proving their maturity (or hoping that the father will stay). I've seen too many examples of women who have several children by different men (all of whom walked away). I wonder why she chose to have kids in the first place.

    It sucks if your situation is tougher than others', but the fact that you have the right to live and pursuit happiness, is enough to make any poor man rich, whether youre from the projects, or the suburbs. People who break the laws, go to jail. People who excercise their rights to live and pursuit happiness, tend to find happiness. Theres no good excuse for gangs, drugs, violence, or any severe crimes, so stop trying to justify it.

Secondly, just because you know someone who dated someone from UP, that doesn't mean that the person is a reflection of what UP is all about. UP exists to address a particular need in society. One can't expect an org like UP to be the only solution. I think Rudy, who founded UP, did the best he knows how to contribute to change things. I suggest you express yourself to UP.
