- In todays video the new cattle yard and piggery is taking shape. My cousin is back with us and has a power of work done transforming the cattle yard. No more big puddle! The pigs will have brand new accomodation but can we get it finished before christmas?

The tele isn't going to last forever, look at the modern equivalent. If you're going to raise the roof 6", maybe raise it a foot or 18" to allow what you might buy in the future:-)
Good point. We’ll have to see what’s the most we can get away with at the time without having to drastically redesign the shed/roof

Great point there to consider. I built my shed too low and when I upgraded to a 6280 from a Fiat 110-90 it can barely squeeze under the beam. 😂

@@FARMERPHIL3690 you got time to figure that out. Anything more than a few inches and you may as well lift it right up nice and high, same hight at the top of the round roof. Fantastic job getting all that tied in and upgrading it all. Make your life heaps easier 👏👏
Yards coming on fine have to go old school and get a loader back on the 35 for mucking out those little sheds😂
Phil great job on the yard and crush but why are you persisting with those old sheds. They are too low and you are not fit for the future you will always be trying to make them fit a purpose. Would it not be better to build a fit for purpose calf shed that will give you a better return long-term
To me as they are they will serve an ideal spot to house small stock tho I either need to raise the roof or buy a smaller machine to fit in to clean out. The upper part with the roof gone will be an ideal spot to put the pick of bulls for the factory the night before they go so we don’t have to sort cattle early in the morning

Good job Phil will be a super spot for handling cattle when it’s done. Just been pouring the grey gold myself and told that it will get to about 90% strength in two weeks so it should be grand at that stage for sorting the bulls. 👍👍

Have you thought about screwing down a ten foot long continuous ridge vent on top of the round metal roof hump over each bay so the pig shit fumes will follow the slanted roof up and vent out the roof. Take a grinder and cut out a 2 inch wide slot and screw them down over the slot
Not really as there’s a loft above the piggery in the round roof part so very little fumes would get that far I’d of thought hence we’re going with an extraction fan at the other end
A much safer yard for everyone. Liv's pig pens are going to be awesome. Well done.

The yard will be a superb job pig's need a lot a heat just an idea to put areo board under the lie back in the piggery it will ensure that they lie where the heat is it just an idea we used to keep a few pigs and you noticed the difference in the ones that had the warm lie
Hi, curious about the Christmas trees mentioned. We grow christmas trees(3-4 thousand a year) here on our farm and am interested in what others grow/prices in other places. kevin from nova scotia,christmas tree capitol of the world.
Would you ever think of roofing the cattle handling area in future years if dealing with the soiled water becomes an issue.
