Cool! I’ve heard about this, but this is the first time I’ve seen it. Slipknot has always freaked me out with the masks, but I’ve been tiptoeing my way into them. Not a Satanic community, people of all kinds like Slipknot.
I thiink the "satanic" comment was sarcastic. A lot of non-metal fans think all metal is evil when in reality metalheads are typically super nice people. At least all the ones I'm friends with are.

I love this. Saw both bands separately. When I first heard this I was blown away. Especially since I grew up with The Beastie Boys. I think I broke all of my shit in my house listening to this again. I don't agree with satanic. I just don't have a religion. "Judge people by their character ".. the great MLK.
The back story of where metal became satanic is when Ronnie James Dio, from the legendary bands Dio and Black Sabbath started using the metal 🤘sign after joining Black Sabbath. He said he got the idea from his grandmother, who used it warding off the evil eye aka Malocchio which is the evil look one person can give to another to cause harm. It’s Italian folklore. So he starts using it and just over time somehow it became devil horns and then metal became satanic music. This of course comes from those who are not subjective and judge before knowing facts. Anyways, this is the origin of how metal became satanic. In truth most metal is not satanic. While there is some, there is some satanic music in all genres. But hey there is even Christian metal. This is the same situation of Halloween… well kind of… it’s origin was to celebrate the dead and ward off ghost. While people did wear costumes, I don’t think they wore ghost costumes. This is an ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. Eventually All Saints Day would take some of those traditions of Samhain. The evening before was known as All Hallows’ Eve and now it’s Halloween. So while some people will say Halloween is a satanic holiday, this just goes to show people need to know the facts before saying anything. Things are not always what they seem.
I think it can be actually dated further back than Ronnie James Dio, and the start might have been with the protestant church campaign against rock and roll music, playing records backwards to reveal hidden messages.
