This is how to change the shifter light on a Corolla 1995. The process is pretty much the same for many cars. The bulbs might differ from one vehicle to another (google your car before ordering).

money saved! thanks
No problem :)
you didn't mention how to remove the bulb. it's too far down and too slipper to grab with fingers, and pliers would shatter it.
I actually did it with my fingers. But you could do it with long nose pliers (gently). And if you can get your fingers around it but it's too slippery, just use some toilet paper or kitchen towel for more grip.
Thank bro I just did it!!!
What is that red thing under the PRND2L that lights up the boxes next to the letters called? I'm trying to fix mines but I can't find a replacement for it
In the video it's that big orange square
Not sure what the exact name of it is but maybe: gear selector display?
thanks u :)
No problem :)
I feel dumb - I've been living with a burned out shifter light on my '96 Corolla for a couple years now, and the local service station claimed "we'd have to replace the whole transmission to replace the bulb." :D
One question -- is there just one bulb to replace, or several? The video seemed to show multiple new bulbs, but maybe I'm just seeing reflections? Thanks for the helpful video, I should've searched for this type of thing sooner. :)
It's only one bulb... I just bought it in bulk.
Same goes with the landrover freelander 2 td4 se 2011??? bulb is not working..
Must be about the same. It always logical. You might have to remove the shifter boot and knob.
Is it "194 Bulb" Or "T5 Cob"??
They do indeed look like the T5 cob... do you have a corolla?
I have 93 Corolla, I am replacing all the light bulbs inside my car. I found out hat the size of the Bulb inside the Gear shifter and the light behind the Ac settings, where you move the levers have the same T5 Cob light bulb size.
I'm still having a Hard time removing the cover where the clips are to get to the bulb. Do you just pull it upwards once you press in the clips?.
Yes... it can be hard so be patient... start with one side and the the other... one trick could be to jam something thin on the first side so that the clips dont click back in when you're doing the other.
those clips are not meant to be moved you need a hammer to bang that shit! the guy that did this video understates what it takes to remove these non LED bulbs!
