I'm an aphantasia... if you say "picture an apple" my brain can conjure no image. the funny thing is I'm a graphic artist, I "picture" things physically. so someone describes what they want to see and without being able to create an image in my mind I create it physically or digitally. I usually sketch and take notes when a client is describing what they want.
Sooooo glad these videos are back! Favorite part of the channel besides the all around education! Love you man keep at it and thank you for all the content!🐋🐋🐋❤️
Steamed cheeseburgers... I'm about to go make some for lunch today! Need that sharp cheddar and a nice thick slice of onion! There's only 1 good place left in Meriden CT, unless you have your own steamer..
I was collateral damage in a police chase that resulted in a severe TBI. Before the injury I was an artist and was able to see images in motion, as well as be able to rotate the images as well. After the injury I could sort of see in my head, but it was fragmented and weak. It has been five years and haven't noticed much change in that regard, but my balance and coordination has improved
Hiya Matt, I'm an Aphant. I was 40 before I learned that phrases like "picture this" were actually something the person expected you to do. Upon finding out people like you exist I ran to my mom and my son and asked both of them if they were actually able to see things in their heads. They can. There are people with no imaginative capabilities, I mean they can't visualize, or bring to mind scents, tastes, how something feels, or even sounds. There are also various combinations of these. It's truly fascinating. And while some of us have this difference is because of a trauma or head injury, others are born with it and we don't know why.
I'm not sure of the amount but it's too many. The numbers are inaccurate. They try to make them sound great but no one uses them correctly. They don't take into account that no one's reporting fender benders. I'm not reporting to my insurance company that you bent my fender. Pay for it and we'll move on. No need for our insurance to go up over something like this. And where my job is located I see it all day every day. Plus, they say it cut traffic. That's a lie. I see traffic jams at roundabouts all day. Because people think "oh, I don't need to use my turn signal now." So they don't and us careful drivers who don't want an accident has to sit and wait to see where you're turning instead of them putting on a signal so I know I can go ahead and go and not hold up traffic. And how ironic, the mayor of Carmel got in an accident in a roundabout. Just give us the traffic light back. It's literally the same amount of time waiting.
I lost my site 26 years ago. And still to this day I’m able to visualize things in my head. That helps me with my independency. with every day, Tess. Like cooking, cleaning, and walking or hiking.
Your videos have a good timing when I get the notifications. It's always when I'm at work. At least I have something to listen to in the background while working. And I like your Arrangements of weird and random facts. Until next time Matt
Mr. Santoro I would love nothing more to interview you! If you actually read this please let me know if it would be possible to do. However you probably won't even see this message withal the comments you get! Please let me know!
I'm kinda the opposite of aphantasia. I have such a vivid imagination that it's like a handicap and add my extrema ADD it's almost like I have seizures because I don't always have control of it. Be it a world of my own creation or just to see what I'm thinking about, sometimes I just go away. I don't like being told gross stories because I have no choice but to see it and whenever people say "I couldn't imagine" I think, I can. It's also a big part of why I'm so empathetic, because it's difficult for me not to think of things from other people's point of view because that's just how the holodeck in my head works, and that's another way it's a bit of a curse which would take way too long to explain. 😁
I had this on in the background and my head snapped around hearing aphantasia come up - I have it and it takes so so so much mental effort to “see” things -I know things about images? But can’t see anything or I only see blobs? I can recall that an apple might be green or speckled or have a nice texture but can’t see it. I get a better sense of an object if I think about it moving but it is still so blurry. I am still an artist and writer, so it doesn’t hurt too bad. I’m glad to hear more people talk about it
Why was Aldrin’s Dr. Rendezvous nickname uncomplimentary? It was a reference to his PhD thesis’ title, “Line-Of-Sight Guidance Techniques for Manned Orbital Rendezvous.”
Hello I believe I have aphantasia, it's with everything, a person, a place, or things. I see pictures. Also I've been watching your videos for 6+ years and your amazing, your work and everything you do for everyone on UA-cam, it's awesome. Thank you for everything. I hope to see more awesomeness.😘🤩
I definitely have aphantasia…I have never been able to see full on pictures in my head. It’s always been dark noise, mixed with warp images. Oddly enough I am a very good fine artist, graphic artist, illustrator and an avid lucid dreamer.
I have aphantasia. It sucks. I only learned a few years ago that I have been missing out on a whole portion of of human experience. I can’t picture anything at all in my mind.
I cannot see an apple when told to think of an apple either. I know how to describe one but cannot see one in my head. Also when reading books or stories, I cannot see a story or the characters. Its like my brain says yes you know what that is but no I wont pull it up to see it. So in that fact im mentally "blind" when reading.
I can’t believe how long I’ve been watching Matthew. His content is really amazing and never fails to educate and entertain. Love ya so much. 🫶🏻 I remember the one time you ended up in one of Lance Stewart’s videos. He was pranking his gf at the time Lizzy and you walked into the elevator and were caught off guard by her appearance. 🤣 I think that’s when she realized he’d messed with her face somehow.
I'm so glad these are back! I missed seeing this series so much ❤

I'm an aphant and artist too. I collect images so I can reference real objects when I want to draw something.
Wow
When I hear the names of certain people, I see a color, it is strange.

Carmine is what makes red velvet cake red. It’s crushed beetles. Now it’s made with beets
Crushed beetles are called cochineal and e120 as well as carmine.
Here before 1.000 for the first time in 10 years! 😊
Best thing someone can wake up to is one of your videos
I live in Carmel, Indiana and we all absolutely hate roundabouts.
I live in New Jersey one of the only places left around this area of the country at least that still has them. Even though we call them circles.
dont you have like 112 roundabouts in that city?
I'm not sure of the amount but it's too many. The numbers are inaccurate. They try to make them sound great but no one uses them correctly. How to stop my morning routine just to watch this video
Missed these but understand the need for a break gotta keep your mind in good shape or nothing else matters
As an artist, I think my life would be a bit more difficult personally if I couldn't visualize people and objects in my head lol
Love me some early morning Knowledge Whale ❤❤❤
When you mention the RDR2 I was hoping it would be the horse lines, you made my day! Thanks Matt!

Yes, I can picture an apple in my head. I can also read and have a movie playing in my head. A lot of people can't do the second one.
Always good day when he uploads a facts video.😊❤

Real red velvet cake is delicious. My mom makes it for my birthday.

I see the nice shiny red apple you were thinking about
I tried but i am unable to see the apple in your head sir

I can picture images in my head, but annoyingly, I struggle to draw from it
I have total Aphantasia and Anauralia. This means I can't see images in my head, and I don't have an internal monologue.
😂I live in Indianapolis Indiana south of Carmel and I have said that since 2002 about round abouts
Wow 180 fact videos
The picture in fact 5 describe as Marlon Brando is actually Paul Newman. Boomer here who appreciates ya! ❤
