Delete your connection from phone to car and disconnect from home wifi and then follow the instructions for installation of the wireless donggle. It works as advertised.
Awesome video, exactly the kind of review I was looking for. The reason your wife was having issues connecting AA via cable is that AA is very data heavy, and the slightest glitch in the connection causes AA to immediately terminate. As the USB port on the phone ages, and as the USB ages or gets dirty, the connection becomes unreliable. Also, cheap USB cables make the issue worse. I'm buying an AAWireless mainly because the USB port on my old phone can no longer hold a connection when I'm driving with AA running.
Beware: The video uses the default settings which require a 4G connection. The 2.0.2 update he did provides a setting under WiFi connection called Cient mode that is supposed to allow you to use a different internet connection such as an in-car internet hot spot. I could not get that feature to work and AAWireless said if it didn’t work they couldn’t do anything about it. They did refund my money when I send the device back but if the menu has an option in it, I expect that option to work. So, if you are using something other than an unlimited data plan on your phone be prepared to up gobs of data because you probably can’t you a different WiFi plan. I’ve watched a number of videos on both the AAWireless and Motorola MA1 devices and none of them have brought this up. The Motorola device does at least say you need a cell data plan but doesn’t explain why.
So if I'm hearing you correctly, I won't be able to use my car's Hotspot for wifi with this? I currently am using an old pixel 3 as a dedicated android auto device but am considering this so I can use my primary phone which would allow me to make calls and reply to texts. The reason why I don't use it currently is because I don't want to deal with plugging and unplugging my phone.
@@John_Locke_108 Correct. I was not able to use both a WiFi connection and the AA device at the same time. I believe newer phones may allow the dual connection but I was not able to do that with a Galaxy S9 or a Pixel 3. I returned the AA device and bought the Motorola version. I also understand that the setting on the AA device that looks like it is supposed to allow the dual connection did not work, even on newer phones but I can’t verify that.
VW Touareq CR with Samsung S21 Ultra After testing a number of different brands of Wireless dongles, I was actually done with it, promising everything but only misery. But if I have something in mind, it must eventually happen, so I searched further. AA Wireless dongle should DEFINITELY work well according to its makers! So after a bit of e-mailing back and forth, I ordered it anyway. Received the AA Wireless today and of course immediately tested! Installing is very simple, just download the App in the App Store, then just follow the steps shown in the app. I immediately updated the dongle to the latest software, that was also without problems. In the system in my VW Touareq CR from 2019, after the entire system has started, it starts immediately. Just a side note, I have a Samsung S21 Ultra with 5G for the connection. So I ended up purchasing one for my car also. My wife's never seems to disconnect now. There was another firmware upgrade and I think that took care of it. The one in my car has briefly disconnected, but I haven't applied the new firmware (I drive very rarely). We are huge fans. I listen to podcasts, not music and they sound great. My wife uses UA-cam Music EXCLUSIVELY while in the car for music (I've been present) and it sounds exactly the same as streaming it from your phone normally would. Maybe this question has been answered already. AA Wireless is not wireless actually because the dongle has always be connected to your infotainment system via USB or am I wrong?
The only time that I've seen this happen is when we get some sort of a dead zone. My wife has one on the way to and from work that the device simply drops offline and then comes back up in a few seconds. It sounds more like a cable problem in your scenario or maybe the plug on the car?
