  • Oak Canyon Trail @Mission Trail Regional Park. Just one of hundreds of trails in Mission Trails Regional Park and this bridge is amazing. I only walked to the beginning of the Trail in order to view the river that flows beneath the bridge. The full Trail is 3.3 miles out and back but if you are a beginner you can park nearby and use this Trail for practice while building your skills and fitness level. You can also visit old Mission Dam along the way.
Link below provides many resources for planning your visit.

Mission Trails is made up of a total of 8000 acres of natural and developed areas for visitors. The best place to start is the visitors center - but if you’re starting out early, you can look up maps on line too, link below. There are miles of trails of all different levels for Beginner to Advanced. Some trails are for people only and some are for bikes, horses and people. Follow the signs for right of way and be mindful of the unpredictable nature of horses in case something might spook them - give plenty of space for them to safely pass.
This is a natural and developed open space park, watch for wildlife including snakes.
The park can get very hot in the summer, plan accordingly with water, shade, appropriate shoes and do not bring fido out in the heat.
There is also a campground in the park, details for camping reservations and preparation are also available in the link below.
The park includes Lake Murray and Kumeyaay Lake as well as 60 miles of trails and a campground.
