2024 Ducati Panigale V4S | Now A Decent Road Bike??
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 тра 2024
- I was invited to the Ducati media day where I was invited to take out the latest iteration of the Ducati Panigale V4S. In the past I found this an incredibly uncomfortable road machine, but the recent versions I had heard it had been made more comfortable
Its time to find out if its true!

To be fair, they’re selling Teslas and Ferraris with 1000 BHP as road cars which are equally pointless. I guess it’s as much about flexing, bling and bragging rights as it is about being an effective road car/bike you can fully enjoy and exploit on the road. However, whilst I don’t want a Tesla Plaid, I’d still love having a Panigale V4S in my garage!
Spot on, well said.
Its about having a beast between your legs
How does no one get this. I would argue the the 911 Turbo S is just as "pointless" but no one says that when they review those cars. Sometimes the motorcycle journo industry needs to get its head out of it's ass.
@kingdan7458 where theirs a will theres a way😮
I think some want to own something that is amazing, beyond the norm. It is an amazing feeling to be connected to a machine that basically has superpowers. This could be a desire even if no one else could see it.
I'm 58 years old, have a V4 Pani Corse which I've done 24,000 miles on, it's by far the best bike I've ever owned. I have several other Ducatis but everything feels second best compared to the V4 Pani. It's a truly beautiful thing. Heats never bothered me either and I lived in Mallorca with it for several years. I find it pretty comfortable actually. Oxford do a little plastic cruise control thing that fits on the grip and costs £8, transforms it on long distances. Your never too old😊💪👍😂😂
How's the reliability been? Seriously considering one of these soon
I’m 61 and have a V4S and get it well above 100 mph on each ride.
My mate has just recently got a V4, they are works of art. I found it really big compared to my s1krr, feels like a bigger bike overall. Everyone saying you cant use the power on the road on these...thats literlaly any performance vehicle in the world, enjoy them for what they are, absolutley ludicrous rocket ships.
Owning a 2023 S1000RR for daily I just can say: These kind of bikes become more confortable as many hours you workout weekly in the gym.
Sorry my english not perfect. 😊❤
Yup, the people complaining about "weight on the wrists" don't have the core strength to sit on a sport bike, plain and simple. You're never supposed to be putting weight on the wrists, you're supposed to be holding yourself upright with your core muscles.
@@nordstar2698I might add, when people talk about “the riding position” on my 2022 GSXR 750, I tell them their problem is they do not know how to sit in a sport bike properly.😁
It’s awesome to tell Harley riders they don’t know how to sit on my bike! First I have them sit on it, then I sit on my bike in front of them and start telling them all the things they were doing incorrect.
It’s even funnier when they think they are awesome riders, tell me they had a sport bike before, and I get to embarrass them.
I have a good healthy lower back so riding a sportbikes is easier for me on long than my Speed Twin 1200
A tangent, but I wish Honda would revive their interest and expertise in V4s. The vfr1200 was poorly targetted - like a weird cross of a pan and classic vfr - but that engine could've been well developed
100%. As someone who has owned many vfr's and has one in the garage currently I wish they made a 1000cc vfr sport tourer with decent suspension and brakes plus 150hp and 110nm torque. It would sell bucket loads
@@michaelhart5886 I would want one for sure
@@michaelhart5886Amen !
I’ve owned the VFR 1200F and still own the VFR 1200X, highly underrated bikes. I just bought a ZX4RR to race and I would really love a new Honda V4 400cc super sport bike.
Sales were so poor they didn’t even bother with updating the bikes to Euro4 let alone 5 or 5+. Seems like buyers made the decision for Honda. Shame. I always felt the 1200 engine wasn’t quite set up or tuned right in my VFR1200 - only started to make sense from 70mph. It was horrible at slow speeds.
Once you've ridden a ducati they become addictive. Love my SF V2
Love my V2 too 💪
Your sportbike days are never over if you are a skilled rider and you are in shape. Look at Josh Hayes in motoamerica supersport at 48 racing the teenager he coaches. In my late 40’s and 50’s I was consumed with retirementese, give up track and sportbikes etc. it’s all bullshit. I bought a vstrom 1000 thinking that’s what guys my age ride only to find myself riding way beyond its limits in the canyons. I immediately went out and bought an MT-10. Be safe but don’t throw in the towel until they close the coffin lid. 😉
Unfortunately I cannot have my legs at the required angle anymore at 68, without hip pain. Enjoy while you can.😂
Ducati truly tugs at the heart of the enthusiast.
Oh how I would love to have one….
10,000 views in 12 hours, well done!! I love this channel thank you for making such great content every time!
Glad you enjoy it buddy 👍
what a beast chopsy love it mate !!!!
I've been lucky enough to own a couple of monsters, and think all Ducati's are "expensive toys" - but aren't they all just gorgeous! The sound from their engines are just so delicious and second to none! 😄
Sounds amazing, and I’m sure the mic isn’t picking up half of the ‘drama’. Good video 👍🏻
The Ferrari of motorcycles.
100% own one, yes, but have a 2nd daily bike, like a Streetfighter v2!!
Special occasion machine.
❤️😍😘
Had my MY23 v4s for a year and a half, love it. Would highly recommend turning wheelie control off, and run it on full power. Mind blowing
And thany you for a great review of a truly great bike. Perfect👍👍
I have not ridden the Panigale but I do have a 2023 Streetfighter V4 SP2, what an absolute riot of a bike. After exhaust and tuning it is so smooth yet so dedicated to speed.
Another great video, really glad to see the amount of content you've been putting out lately. Keep up the great work good sir!
Thanks very much appreciated 👏
Great video mate you making me want another ducati.
I have ducati 748

Great commentary. Earned a new subscriber.
Thanks buddy 👍
It's been a while since I watched your videos, your intro has come a long way, I think this new intro is great I like it.🙂
Oh yeah and the V4s is a dream 😍
Thanks buddy 👍
I took one of these out when they first launched back in 2018 I think, blew my mind then, so god only knows what it’s like now! Dream Superbike for me. Great review chops even if you were held back 👍🏻
Thanks buddy 👍
Another great review, how did you find some of our local roads chopsy ?
Nice one chopsy best looking bike the panigale !!! Good to see some dry roads again is it not .😁👍👍
Yes indeed! 😁👍
Hi chopsy....it's good to see you are trying to keep the sportsbike genre alive....not many tubers bother anymore......even though I'm not a sportsbike fan....like others have said...they can't be used on our roads realistically....keep up the good work...!
No problem someone has to do it! 😄👍

Stunning bike Chops.. please do a Nanny free review when you can
Great review Chopsy. Got my cup of coffee to watch you hoon around on the "Expensive Toy". And so true. 😃
And I agree totally about the lack of cruise control. I mean you said absolutely perfectly, these sports bikes need this more than adventure & touring bikes!!
Can't wait for your next review.
I also can't wait until KTM release their 1390 Super Duke GT for you to test!!
🍻
Thanks Michael 👍
@LambChopRides Can you please do a comparo on the entry level suspension on the v4? Thanks mate.
Stunning
nice review
Great video, 👍 very friendly orientated
Great review again Chopsie! BTW your discount code for Helmet City doesn't work for Arai visors.
I tested one in November in Arizona, and it was STILL a weenie roasting, bun burner. I did look at the aftermarket heat mitigation insulation kit, but I wised up and realized that I don't need a bike that sits in the summer.
Gonna buy me that bike soon here in germany
V4S is a track tool with road legal hardware. I sat on one and immediately after booked an appointment with my chiropractor. It has one of the most extreme ergos of any road bike out right now.
Another great Chopsy review. Its a super looking bike, really love the red of a Ducati.
Just thinking maybe overall the S1000RR might be a better buy for me and with having the cruise control it will help. Being in my late 50s I need all the help. However I thought of getting another GSXR1000.
Love everything about that bike and great commentary as always, but I can't get my head around ever wanting to own one, even if I had the cash and the necessary riding skillsets. Taking pride of place in my living room maybe, but as a practical road bike, it just doesn't 'cut the mustard' for me, despite the improvements you mentioned. Thanks anyway for the insight.
I would love this machhine, have a super duke r evo right now, but am looking for something to tour on and eventually get a sport bike again when I can afford it....was looking at the GS Adventure but also the Ducati Pikes Peak since id be trading in my Super Duke R....not sure which path ill take but Ducati sure does make a mean bike even if they dont make the most sense, you only live once (that we know of) nice video, ride safe!
What about the super Duke GT
I own a Panigale V2 and I absolutely love it even tho it’s a bit small for me, Ducati have it in for servicing so they gave me a 24’ V4 to use yesterday. It’s a perfect fit for me but I’m really not a fan of it.
I bought a 2020 V4S new and after 4 years ownership I can say, you’ll never buy a road going V4 with a thrashed engine. They are just so fast you can’t use the engine to its full potential. At 6’4” aged 47 I find the V4 pretty comfortable and I will ride all day, although I spent half my life racing so maybe that helps. The one thing that I don’t like are the standard spring rates. I had to change front and rear springs to get anywhere near a sensible sag setting. The level of feedback once it’s set up properly though is stunning. Agreed, about the heat, never ride more than a few miles in jeans! I have a scar on the inside of my left knee to prove it!
I have a 2016 gen2 Panigale R, last of the ‘R’ twins. This sounds very familiar on throttle even though it’s a V4.
Chopsy!! As always. Thank you for sharing the fun of your riding experiences with us.
Query: this Pani V4S…or the 2023+ S1000RR M Sport?
ı have both panigale.
@@umitmustafaalaca4043 why would you say that ?Please share your experience since you have both
@@ghumnz Everything in the BMW S1000RR is so perfect it's boring
Chopsy riding in my playing field. Please tell me you got to visit Guilks cafe at the bottom of edge hill. Great spot. Caffeine and machine only up the road too. Great bike. You'd love tye 1390 on some of the roads around here
No sorry... lovely countryside though! Sorry I missed you 😁
How does it compare ’comfort’ wise to the H2?
As a sportsbike rider of 30 + years I can see how things have progressed from useable 750’s to exciting 1000’s to .. well, insane 1100’s now, the bikes are so good but yes too much for the road, but so is a new Porsche gt3 etc. all I will say is we have never had it so good even if they are so expensive I can’t afford one !
Killin' my shoulders just watching you on that - a lovely thing though, no denying (although let's face it the early Panigale's were prettier....)
Haha yeah not for you just yet Andy! 👍
I test road one and I could barely get the bike out of first gear. even on the bigger main road I went on the bike just goes so fast in first and second that I'm not sure if I ever even went into 3rd gear on it. This bike would only make sense to own if you had some really big open roads to ride it on where you could actually take advantage of it's performance. and I'm to old to be leaning to the bars so much for any amount of time. my Ducati 939 super sport has way more usable power for most kinds of riding. plus I can handle the ergonomics for more than a half an hour.
You could post a great time round the tt course on her and ride her home what’s not to like thank god for Ducati great insight into a dream bike thank you
Hello, Chop! How wonderful that you got to ride and enjoy this incredible machine. I have always loved these bikes. Sadly, my old bones will not really allow me to ball myself up in the manner I would need to to ride one today. That said, if I ever get the opportunity, I will certainly try one out! 😁 In the meantime, I will live vicariously through you. Just hearing the enthusiasm in your voice makes me smile! Really enjoying your content, mate. Cheers.
Thanks very much Dennis 👍
looks very uncomfortable to me!! But it is a beauty…
I have just Ordered the Honda CBR 1000RR R SP 2024 FOR THE TRACK AND A Ducati Streetfighter V4s for the road.
Great review Chops.
Hate the dustbin exhaust.
Is this by any chance the Ducati roadshow? I recognise the convoy. We had one down at Sammy Millers in New Forest recently 👍🏻
No it was actually done by Ducati UK just for media as lots of video and photos provided 👍
Chopsy how do we feel about the v2 over this as a sportbike daily? weekend warrior with some daily during the week type of riding, 250-500 miles a week.
If you want a daily, buy a S1KRR. You get electronic suspension, fuel gauge, cruise control. None of that on the V2 plus you get 30-40 more horsepower
The bike looks so small with you riding it. I test rode the previous generation, and you're right, the heat is unbearable, if you're stuck in traffic on a hot summers day, your legs get scorched, like sunburn. It's a nice machine and it's place is on a track.
Is it E5+?
I’m happy with my 2023 Monster SP, The riding position would be too much for my 61 yr old Frame. I also have a 2023 Triumph Rocket 🚀 3R, that I Pose with and let others enjoy the massiveness of that Beast. 👍🇺🇸🇬🇧🇭🇺
Brilliant video, panigale v4s or s1000rr m package? If u have to pick one??😊
Yeah tough one Erik! Well actually that comparison could be coming 🤞
@@LambChopRides awesome!
I saw a couple of guys testing one on track in the USA against an old gixxer thou: the gixxer beat the Ducati. They couldn't understand it, had the bike checked out and all was fine. Then they realised that Ducati had softened the suspension to make it road friendly, so the soft suspension was letting it down on track.
Zack and Ari were the ones testing the old K6 against the Duc. Pretty cool an older super bike with no electronics beat out a new sportbike with everything electronic under the sun
@@EpiceverythingProductions Oh come on. Clearly rider mod. Put Jorge Martin on those bikes and he'll be ten seconds faster on the Panigale 😂
Things that didn’t happen for £100 that duke would run rings around the Suzuki by a large margin 😂
@@DaleMt09spexcept it didn't..Zack and Ari are extremely skilled riders. Same tires and everything on both bikes. Suzuki beat the Ducati multiple times.
@@DaleMt09sp Yet it didn't. Fact is Ducati is garbage and falls flat on their face against the Japanese.
My dream bike.
You think its hot in 17 degrees, I rode it in Thailand in 34 degrees! Fantastic fun but I came to the conclusion if you ever want to have children, you shouldn't ride this. It poached my nads! You never mentioned the brakes, that was the other standout for me. The brakes were incredible, it was like hitting an invisible wall. What a machine.
Still the best looking eye candy out there. Haven’t paid attention to what it cost to own these days. Even if I could afford it I still probably couldn’t afford it. Lol
Chopsie, what was the heat like?
People are reporting Blisters ffs.
The Sfv4 and Pani share engines but it seems being naked pays off regarding getting rid of engine heat. The fairings seems to push all the air out at your calf
Beautiful and sounds great but $32K here in the US, can get 2 really nice bikes for that.
Great vid & a stunning bike. Although weirdly wouldn't want one. It would be wasted on my ability but I'd also be loathed to put too many miles on it, get it dirty or mark it etc. Pointless I know lol.
A bit mad that a 1299 panigale is more road worthy than another bike now somehow.
I think I'm 5 stone and 30 years too old for it, but nice to watch\ listen to one.
So many people moaning in the comments....stop bending over and complying people. Dont let the government dictate what we are allowed to do in this life.. ride the bikes you like saying no place for a 200bho sports bike on the road then jumping on your 1390 is a bit confusing to me . And what about the car lads in Thier m140s they aren't crying. And normal folk have 450bhp SUVs as well.. think too many of you had all your booster's
One life, live it 👍
I bet half the people can’t ride a bike to its limits. But if you want one.Get one👍
Legend!
@@garrytab4362 How many Ferrari owners drive them at their limit?
More fun to ride a slow bike fast, IMHO.
Who even compares the H2 to these bikes (Pani or S1kRR). it's over a hundred pounds heavier, it's like comparing a drag car to an F1... both blazing fast but with completely different applications.
"There's a reason it's red" 😅🌶
What's more comfy for a tall rider, Ducati v4 or S1000rr?
S1000RR Ben 👍
@@LambChopRides nice one 👍
I guess the BMW regardless of your height.
Bike fits well for a big lad chops
Yeah I was actually surprised how OK I looked on it when I saw the video! 😆
Great review,.. however is it just me ,.. but I can’t stand the noise of a V4 in a funny way it reminds me of my friends late 90s Honda VFR 750/800. Absolutely way too much for the road. I’m sure it has a fan base though. Dave
Dont worry cruise control will be ciming anyday now that i bought a streetfighter v4s
A nice bike I'm sure but I really can't get excited about this sort of thing on todays pothole, traffic strewn roads
You hardly ever got out of 2nd which kinda says it all in some ways
I'd love one but it sounds like I made the right choice buying my 2022 S1000RR for daily use and sport touring. Ducati may have improved the ergos, I can live without cruise control (and a fuel gauge?) but if the Panigale still burns your leg in anything other than leathers (literally leaving red marks on skin) then it isn't a viable road bike.
Had one sold it for a superduke
An example as to why the baby Ducati is always better for the road. Look at the gear indicator.
This, or the RSV4, or both?
I’d have bought an RSV4 if I hadn’t heard so many quality control horror stories, and I’ve have bought a V4S if I’d have done better at school.
yes it IS fast. However to tell us whether its a good road bike, why not tailor the electronics to optimum settings for the road, then tell test ride it.
Did you ever get higher than 3rd gear ?
Nope...
I’d have the Tuono instead sounds way better
I owned a 2020 Tuono before trading it in for a V4S with a full Termi system and I have to agree……the Aprilia had a nicer noise.
Chopssy whats the intro song ??
I honestly can't remember but will check 👍
@@LambChopRides thanks chap just really like it 👍👍👍
Has it got a fuel guage?.
Unfortunately Not! You have 17 Liter fueltank, when at least you have 5 Liter in it, the fuel Signal goes on and thats it. I can go about 100km on my V4S when the light goes on.
tbh not having a fuel gauge is surprisingly much easier to live with that you'd expect.
Chops restraint and pushing the bike to its limits would be very difficult for anyone that purchase this beauty
I wouldn't care if it was as comfy as the tower of london,I 'd still want one.
The mirrors look ridiculously ‘shaky’ from vibration….Is that fair to say?
Hmm no they are OK... not the best ever but I've tried much worse
Most people will disagree with me are maybe all people but I still think the R1 and the Blade look better😁
Yes Mark we disagree
60th anniversary edition R1 maybe, comes close.
R1 sucks, Blade is fantastic
New blade is stunning, one of the best looking bikes
The reason I wont buy a panigale is because of the heat. Such a shame as they are in my eyes the ultimate sports bike, especially with all them revs!
Ps: the plush ride is probably the same as my rsv4 factory, meaning the reason its plush is because its too softly sprung.
Put a cable tie on the fork leg and it will be hitting full travel really easy.
You can up the damping but then ride is super hard and unbearable.
The only way is to fit stronger springs
The Panigale V4/V4S/V4R will NEVER be as "Refined" as the bmw s1000rr stock for stock versions; both in electronics as well as ergo riding(not to mention the ratio of creature comforts) for daily usage; especially if you are 6'1" - 6'4" tall !!!
So v2 or v4 for the road?
Yeah good question, I actually found the V2 Streetfighter very cramped the last time I rode it.. The V4 was much more spacious. I suspect the Pani will be the same story.. But from a power point of view and engagement for the road probably V2
@@LambChopRides i am not worried about ergos its more about power usability.I do own 2023 R1 and I can barely use more then 3 gears on the road.I am after smth more road friendly and considering panigale v2 or tuono V4
Nice. Just too much for the road. 😂👍
People go on about to much for the road on to many bikes I test rode a transalp and had it at 120mph should we all ride 125cc that top out at 70-75mph? 😂 the sf v4s on bike world drag races mullered everything so as long as you ride it properly and not go around in 6th you’ll smash all the other nakeds on a road setting when people say the powers higher up the range rev it more then use that range 😂
I love this bike. But I think the new bmw has it hands down.
Still love one if the bank allows it though 😂
Couldn’t be better timed. I’m hoping to pick up a SFV4s in Nov/dec. I also love the Panagale . The Sf is more practical but the Heart says Panagale 😂
Both overpowered as most bikes are, but to be honest the only thing that makes a bike go fast is your wrist. I’d rather have the power than not. Motorbikes are an irrational purchase anyhow, they aren’t practical at all. They’re emotive .
If you’d have said “sports bikes are an irrational purchase” I’d have understood and partially agreed. If more people rode bikes as a daily rider the roads would be emptier and in better condition too.
Fair. I’d rather sit in traffic than be on any bike for the 6 months of the year it’s P’sing rain and under 5deg C in Ireland, however.
@@markholmes5695 Also fair 😂
Dosen't sound like a Ferrari, that distinction goes to my 1078 312rr
MV Agusta is the Ferrari of the motorcycle world. Ducati are mainstream.
Both are quite mid
No they are the Lamborghini!
@@crad5476 cant be mid when youre dominating. ducati ftw!!
@@AffanMohammed-rq4is Ducati is nowhere near dominating tho
@@crad5476 Ducati win MotoGP and WSBK the last few years I’d say that’s dominating.

Never get past 2nd gear on Englands crumbly horse cart path roads!😊
Nothing will ever come close to the 916
Literally the equivalent of having a 20” dong and being able to use only a third of it… amazing though! 😂
I can use just over a third, thanks 😂
Still overtake any car in the road tho 😂
I thought it was the equivalent of having a half inch dong and the motorcycle is the extension to make one feel whole
Would rather have 20” or 7”? That is the question.
