      Quality over quantity.

Another would be pick the right life partner with similar financial goals. You don't want to be aggressively paying off stuff and have someone going eh minimum payments are fine YOLO.

My husband is retiring in two years and we wanted to new vehicles before he did. First we bought mine, and aggressively paid that one off, then his. In less than 4 years. Those were the only debts we’ve carried in 15 years. We aggressively paid off our house a long time ago. There’s one more big item we will buy and have that paid for in a year. It can be done.

An idea from a former co-worker when I started my career was that every time he got a raise, he’d increase his retirement by 1%. As he had never seen the money, he’d never notice it was “.gone”. In my current job I have it set every year on my birthday to increase by 1% as a present to myself. (My second job only allows me to increase on January 1, so same deal.)
I also recently heard to save 10% of your house payment every month, so I just started that last year-and it makes sense. And really came in clutch for a major plumbing issue that drained the account completely-if I hadn’t been saving, it could have been a more stressful issue-and I’m okay because the account is growing again.
And I am thankful to hear you don’t get up early. I am not a morning person-even if I try!

Love your videos. We invest. We don’t try to keep up with the Joneses. I did buy a 2020 Lexus RX two years ago. I bought it for reliability and comfort. I bought it after I had driven my Mommy Soccer minivan for 12 years which was handed down to my husband and it currently has 204K miles and still going strong. We sold his 2009 Malibu that year with a 189K miles on it. Honestly our new car could be one of the last cars we buy. We love to travel but often share meals because we don’t want leftovers. Not because we are cheap. We have $1M in our retirement funds at the age of 57. Good money habits go a long way.
PS. I spend a lot on coffee too! I have a home delivery service also. Might have to try Cometeer now. Keep on making great videos. Love using your net worth tracker sheet. Game changer ❤️❤️

Totally agree with multiple streams of income.
The world your parents grew up in is gone.
We can no longer work one job from 15 to 70 and get a retirement package.it simply don't exist anymore.
We have to change jobs often to get a raise.
Plus, let's be honest.the more skills one has,the better.having a lot of skills makes you far more employable.

Ohhh, that coffee sounds divine 🤩
Recently borrowed the Ball canning & preserving book from the library (favorite place), my partner and I are moving into an apartment and will try herbs first but will get into canning when we buy land and start a garden! My Grandfather was a mechanic and said to keep up with regular maintenance, it’s better to run it into the junkyard than trade it for an upgraded model every few years. I am currently on a debt repayment plan aiming to pay off $18K of student loans by 2023. Always said I would pay it off before 30, only 2 years behind the initial goal. But that’s tuition & 1 semester of books only, I paid out of pocket for housing and came in every semester with at least $200 down (community college & state university).
Thanks Sarah, I enjoy your content on the channel & blog!!

I try my best, but I do have a lot of balls in the air/ income streams to manage. If anything, I may need to take some time off soon. I'm pretty overwhelmed and one thing millionaires do is take care of themselves.

  • @deboramorrissey7442

I got into rental properties and while I wasn't getting a huge income from them, I was wanting the mortgage and expenses to be covered so that I built equity and when I go to sell those properties (renters') paid for that wealth for me! I also have invested in stocks and mutual funds. I don't have 7 streams, but I have two very strong streams of income. Another big factor is leaving way below my means. My goal every year is to save at least 40% of my income so when I retire I can have the same level of living. I also read a lot. I basically from my mid-20"s (early 1990's) I was reading Money magazine cover to cover to try and understand how "well off" people got ahead with their money.

I have been subscribed to your channel for a long time. You are one of my first subscriptions. This video hit home, but not for the reasons you may be thinking. My brother is the Senior Engineer at Cometeer Coffee! He developed 70% of their equipment. The coffee is AMAZING. I can literally drink it without cream or sugar both hot or cold. I have never been able to do that with other pods or grinds. When you said they were your sponsor I had to skip to that promo. Great Job! Now back to the beginning to watch the video, Thanks for being you!

Start contributing 10% of your paycheck to your retirement account as soon as you get out of college, at age 21, and don't stop until you retire. Do not ever touch this money or borrow against it. Also buy Toyotas, pay them off asap, and drive them for 20 years. Lastly, buy a house asap so you make yourself wealthy, instead of paying rent to a landlord to make them wealthy.

Whenever I need a positivity boost, I watch a couple of your videos. You offer great advice for all ages and all income brackets. I started following you after your Debt Free Scream. I went through every video you created. Loved the grocery shopping ones, and your emergency 'go-bag/kit' video too. I retired in October, and not getting paid every two weeks is a different experience. We aren't hurting for money; it's just adapting to a different lifestyle. I am learning that I might want to dip my toe back into the job market. More for expanding my retirement nest egg, and for a bit of fun money. I'll see how this summer goes before I make that decision. Please keep up the uplifting videos. After the past couple of weeks, this world needs them.

Basically what you said, but to me it boils down to: Live BELOW your means and invest the difference between what you bring in and what you spend in sound ways, not "get rich quick" schemes. I agree with other commenters to automate the process, save/invest more as income increases, etc., so it's consistent, hopefully increases over time, and you're not even tempted to spend money beyond your needs and true wants. True wants = not just impulsive wants or the Joneses' wants.

  • @rochellethundercloud346

One thing we do is we have automatic bill pay.as soon as our benefits hit,our bills are paid.done.simple.no stress on did the bill come in time.no worries of oh,we can't pay it. it's done.worth looking into
Same with savings.automate.you never saw it, you didn't miss it.
    Avoid lifestyle creep.
If impulse shopping is a problem, delete social media.online shopping sites.emails.stop junk mail.do not save payment method.make it nearly impossible to buy junk items.
    Shopping.spend money you don't have
    Buy crap you don't want
To impress people you don't like.

I need to educate myself about investing in the market, I have 2 rental properties, one is costing me money this month 💸🙄 and no debt, but money sitting in a savings account makes me zero money, I need to change that.
