It's stuff like this that I think makes this channel the hottest 3D printing channel on UA-cam today. Simon you continue to push the 3D printing threshold by creating thought provoking videos that show the concept from start to finish. Keep it up!
Hot dang man, this is SWEET. A while back I thought something like this would be neat, but I was thinking of stencils for my kids to do art projects. You took it up a notch, OF COURSE. I love this. If I get the chance to do this, I'm totally going to say thanks on camera. This is freaking awesome.
it most definitely is, I have used spray paint on clothes to make super cheap and durable zombie/splicer costumes. I've washed them multiple times, even having one of the pairs of pants rip in the wash and the paint is still on everything. (although I don't dare wash them with any of my normal clothes)
I thought of these types of stencils to use for screen printing. It would make a lot less work then usual. If you want something to be washable though I'd recommend water based screen printing inks. They can be put into the shirt with an iron and the shirts will be washable at 30°C. You could also try to use an airbrush with the screen printing inks and your stencil.
Simon if you want dual color on your 3D printers look into 3D printing a Y splitter to feed multiple extruders into one nozzle. It requires a lot of knowledge to get it to work and a customer g code, but I got it working perfectly on my Tevo tarantula. I plan to add 2 more colors later to make it a 4 color printer. If you want any help just talk to me. Oh and as far as cost goes you only need to pay for another motor, possibly another heartbreak(it has to allow the PTF tubing to go into it and like 10 cents worth of filament for printing a Y splitter lol.
Can't wait for my printer to arrive so I can try out all these awesome projects! Very nice video, love the cinematography at the start, keep up the awesome videos 😁
Daaaamn that’s so bad ass! I’m gonna try that tomorrow. BTW, if you want the colors to pop on your black T’s, try laying down a layer of white. Let it dry. Then slap on your color. It works with digital printing and might have the same results with this format. Your vids are awesome, thanks again for your awe inspiring ideas.
I have several products I am working on printing and selling, but this is definitely something to keep in mind for down the road. Another fantastic video. Thanks Simon, your video's keep me going...
Woop woop! Cool af! Remember to "prime" the multicolour shirt first with a base color, eg. white/gray before spraying colors. Then the fabric won´t soak up all the colours and they will pop more!
This video is amazing. Thank you for making them. I think shirt making 3d Printing related videos and also the electronics related ones are by far most favorite videos I am interested to watch from you. Think of making a creative quick representation of the wiring schematics how things connect. Cause when you make the Peltier Refrigeration System, and many other projects I don't see what wire connect from where to where and I wish that would had been there in my face. Thank you Very much for all your good projects
7:04 undercoat it with white first, makes the colours come out better. Happens whenever painting on black (because colours are mixed with white surfaces in mind).
Professional screen printers use paints which are the rough equivalent of acrylic house paint. If you've ever painted a house and gotten the paint on your clothes, you know that lasts forever.
Brilliant! I did this a while ago. It worked ok for me, but I wasn't very very satisfied. Might have to try again. What I found the most difficult was getting the stencil to sit flat against the garment. It was a real pain in the butt. I tried temporary glue, magnets, and weights. Never was completely happy with the result. I think my problem was that I wanted to use spray paint. If there is any gap, the paint will find it and make edges soft. Probably a better idea to brush. I'll have to try a stickier glue like you did. I guess I was afraid to use a glue that would gum up the garment. You can probably improve the color on black by doing a white base first. Oh yeah, another problem I had is that I had to print my stencil in several pieces because I don't have a large machine, but that really shouldn't be a big deal; you just have to do a good job at joining the pieces (with tape?). Love the rainbow map! I feel like your glue choice is key.
Wow the edges turned out great! Cutting out stencils by hand is a pain and this will definitely make things easier. 30 dollars is also a bit too much for the adhesive. Where I live it goes for 15-20 bucks or so. Have a wonderful day!
I'd been pondering using 3D printed stencils for making PCBs (circuitboards), ie: you use it to selectively apply an etch resist, or even an etch paste. Or if you 3D print straight onto the PCB, you can electro-etch by using the stencil itself as the resist to protect the board. Also you can go the other way, and instead of using stencils you can use STAMPS. (or you can use a stencil --> to etch a stamp, if you want a super tough metal stamp).
this idea is awesome especially if the idea is that someone doesn't like using screen printing.... but as long as the design is in solid shapes and silhouette shapes then this stencil is useful, to compare it with screen printing... the texture of this one is more smooth and full color while in screen printing is like a half-tone texture.
Your production quality is just shockingly good. These intro scenes felt like a movie! I really liked the idea of these stencils and personally liked the world map best.
Just love you bro I liked the world map the most as it was a sort of pinnacle of creativity I just rewinded the video again & again to watch the world map. Just loved it 😍😍😍😍😍 RCLifeon Rockss
I'm torn between the World Map shirt and the Rudolph 2.0. I actually like the multicolored Rudolph! The fact that it kind of blends in with the black makes it look even cooler to me!
Hi Simon, well another FANTASTIC video! i have to say Rudolph has to be my fav. Love the multicolored version and maybe a base colour of white would make the colours stand out and not blend so badly to the black t-shirt... just a thought
good job. If you want to make colours on black t-shirt more visible use white spray first, and after that apply colours. I wish you success to your projects. It´s really pleasure see your canal.
Hi Simon! Please do a video about palette +. What kind of materials have you used so far? It looks very promissing. Seen that also there is similar solution for ogrinal Prusa.
I had this idea as well. Also thinking you could add some thin 3d printed pieces to make it stand out. Unfortunately I don't have a printer. I Always like your videos keep them coming. The boat and multi colour printing look cool.
Next level merchandise! 😂
RCLifeOn Nice video I respect You
RCLifeOn i rly liked the fish they r kinda my style
RCLifeOn how about the washing machine?
RCLifeOn casey neistat in 3d printing category?

@@bucherttimothe1938 YOU try getting paint off your clothes, and tell US

Love your workshop! This whole video is put together really well and I love the idea of 3D printed stencils.
This is such a cool idea and opens the door to a whole new market for people with 3d printers.

Wow Mind blown! Thanks for a great idea!! This could be super fun with the kids, they can design their own t-shirts.
Tip: inkscape is free alternative to illustrator
(like blender but for 2d)
Can Inkscape do the image trace thing?
This was awesome, the world map was my fav, great job on the colors.
Can't wait for my printer to arrive so I can try out all these awesome projects! Very nice video, love the cinematography at the start, keep up the awesome videos 😁
Hawx Animator why do you know that you have won.
The rudolph 2.0 is looking awesome!!!
Great job Simon...

Awesome idea, and those look cool af. You gotta give us an update video once it's been through the wash a few times though.

I love the way Rudolf 2.0 turned out with the black and white. They all look so amazing tho

OH I AM TOTALLY DOING THIS!!!!!! I am probably going to print the Rudolph 2.0 first because he’s my favorite design!
How does the paint hold up to washes?
it does not
Professional screen printers use paints which are the rough equivalent of acrylic house paint. If you've ever painted a house and gotten the paint on your clothes, you know that lasts forever.
Depends on the paint used I would suggest

The Rudolf 2.0 is really awesome 😎
really inspiring of the use of 3D printer!! thumbs up!

Rudolph 2.0 is dope

Yin and Yang is by far my favorite, looks so clean dude!
Simon, you are such an inspiration for me. Thank you very much. Congrats on your video.

I love your world map addition and like Pisces (fish edition). Btw great idea will do it.
You could also use a reverse image.. and some craft stamping inks and make 3d printing stamps!.
Simon, you are the man!
Really like the fish and the deer!
GREAT video Simon!
I'm torn between the World Map shirt and the Rudolph 2.0. I actually like the multicolored Rudolph! The fact that it kind of blends in with the black makes it look even cooler to me!
They look awesome

The rudolph2.0 looks awesome, but MAN, that camera work on what could have been a simple boring tutorial video. Quality content.
It looks better than from the store!

Best T-Shirt LIFE HACK!!!
All cool, but that Rudolph2.0 looks awesome! Love how the white looks slightly silver.
good job. If you want to make colours on black t-shirt more visible use white spray first, and after that apply colours. I wish you success to your projects. It´s really pleasure see your canal.

Huge fan of yours from Brazil!! =D
Great video! Ying and Yang
fk love it!! wow this is cool, I think the simplicity of the deer is wonderful!
Well this is very nice, I'll definitely do it. And keep hitting the GYM! LOL
I love the world map version. For the color on the black t-shirt, just do a base of white paint first. Cheers!
Rudolf 2.0 is pretty awesome.
Hi Simon! Please do a video about palette +. What kind of materials have you used so far? It looks very promissing. Seen that also there is similar solution for ogrinal Prusa.
Good print
World map, and thanks for the idea! That might beat out laser-cut.
I liked the world map. Cheers for the content.
Bro, the stencils look awesome!!! Also the Deer looks like my photography logo! Great video!!!
great idea you could try gluing iron powder on the print and an magnitic surface so you dont have to glue the t shirt
Men you genius!!! i love your video !!!!
For black t-shirts, if you do a white layer first, then do your colored layer, it should be a lot brighter.
Very nice and good idea
I vote for the deer !!
I had this idea as well. Also thinking you could add some thin 3d printed pieces to make it stand out. Unfortunately I don't have a printer. I Always like your videos keep them coming. The boat and multi colour printing look cool.
all are pretty cool
Cool ide och grymt resultat! Snyggt jobbat i vanlig ordning :)
You should spray on white those colors so you can get them brighter :3 Anyway really nice! I am gonna try this for sure!
Omg, that monitor resolution is brutal!
Great Job!!
Dude, that is awesome. I want to make a stensil now. Rudolf 2.0
So far, this is just about the most compelling reason to splash out for a 3D printer.
This fish came out sweet!
For rudolf you should have given him a red nose. :)
