If you didn't fix it, adjust the idle to about 700 to 800 RPMs, You're running to rich on this motor. I have the same one but evinrude, and it was doing this until I set the throttle (slow) stop back further and leaned up the fuel. Runs like a champ. I know this is way late but I figured this might help some others.
It's a carb float. I messed with mine for years bc everything looked good or was replaced. Then I found something online that pointed me to the float and it was like water logged and heavier than the new float so it wasn't working. I put the new one in and started it and adjusted the carb and it runs like it is new
Yoo I have one of these and it got so bad it would sneeze and cut off. You need a new carb. Funny enough this solved everything for me. I went in circles trying everything.

I have a 30 HP Durajet. I had a loose fuel pump filter screw. Runs great now.

Turn the idle adjustment screw to the left....lean sneeze common issue.

bad gas, bad plugs, carb needs rebuilt
mine is doing the same thing.
the idle was set to low. the brass screw on the carb needed to be adjusted.
