Really liking your new vloggs Jon. Especially the history. Keep up the good work👍
Thanks Randy appreciate that :)
Good one Jon. I'll be there in 3 weeks scoping out my retirement. Walkability close to Thapae Gate is choice. Hope we can run Into each other. I like the idea of renovating a n older unit in a quality building but also the convenience of a fully furnished newer condo. I have my bank account set up and looking to at least get my motorbike license this trip. Keep up the great content 👍 Cheers!
Thanks mate! Good luck on the move :) Yeah I'd go the route of renovating, you can get better value for money, just make sure it's a decent building!
My favorite area is definitely Chang Khian. Quite and peaceful. Right at the foothills of Doi Suthep, surrounded by idyllic roads dotted by chill cafes. And if you ever get bored, Nimman is just a 5-minute ride away.
Ah cool, that's not an area I've spent much time in :)
Kaprow with mashed potatoes. Kinda makes it like a spicy Shepherd's pie. Party on, Jon!
You can't go wrong! :)
Great video ,
We also love the "ELVIS" restaurant
been there many times
Thanks mate
Great video. Planning to move to CM in October/November. Was looking at Hang Dong and Suthep as places to move to. Lotta folks said I'd get bored of Hang Dong but prefer something quieter than Nimman or Old Town.
Nice! Good luck on the move :) Hang Dong is great, not too far the city
I like that area also. For Christmas and New Year's 2021 I stayed at a place called De Chai The Deco Hotel. Short walk to Tha Phae gate. I planned on retiring to Chiang Mai. But here I am in Bangkok. I'm reassessing as I really like Chang Mai, outside of the smoky season of course. Something I learned from this video was that side streets off a main street are called lanes in Chiang Mai? Rather than sois like in Bangkok.
Bangkok is great as well :) Hmm yeah never actually thought about the Lane/Soi thing, I think it may just be around Thapae
Man farang are my favorite vegetable, so I'm with you on you fusion taste 😁
100% :)
I will let you know my favorite area in about 2 years + when I have seen enough to choose. Great video, Thanks for showing us around that small part of an amazing city.
Thanks Peter, yep takes a while to find your favorite place :)
Excellent video once again, Jon--and I loved that you got in a shot of the side of the soi where MY apartment complex is at Veerachai Court! It IS a Great Neighborhood to live in and I'm very much looking forward to getting back there later on this year! Thanks for ANOTHER enjoyable video! 🙂
Thanks mate!
Great video
Thanks :)
Great video enjoyed it !!!
Thanks!
You were very close to.....Big Brother Song Noodle Shop...............go try the Giem E................very few places have this noodle in the Kingdom................the place is an institution
Don't think I've heard of those noodles before, I'll see if I can find that place!
That is the best part of the city in my opinion as well
Yep, so much to see and do :)
Sounds good Jon. Might make some mash potatoes next time my wife makes Thai green ( in Melbourne)..
Yeah it really makes the dish for me :)
Mashed potato is one of your root ..rice is the root of Thai ..appreciate your mixing fusion 🎉
Yep!
My favorite area of Chiang Mai is the same as yours! 👍
Yep, awesome location!
New sub from Australia - thinking of relocating to Thailand - either Chiang Mai or Hua Hin - how do you tolerate the smokey season?
Thanks :) For me it's just part of life, use the air purifiers at home and only go out for a few hours when I need to, the rest of year it's the best place ever! Good luck on your move!
If I'm not mistaken, I paid 550 baht a night to stay in Tapae Place Hotel 30 years ago. That's amazing!
Haha yeah, I've noticed certain hotel prices are the same as they were when I first got here :)
I used to rent a place in City View, an oldy but a goody. I remember some of the foreign owners were concerned about the percentage of foreign to Thai owners, I think it went over 50% and therefore illegal I think. Is it true that a condo complex has to be majority Thai owned? Would appreciate your thoughts. It's my favourite part of the city too Jon, thanks for the video.
Yep, foreign owners can only own up to 49% of the entire surface area of the condo. The land office shouldn't let it go above this.
You can’t buy land
My Thai company can buy land without issue
@@JonInChiangMai How does that work? I know it might be complicated?
