- The Duck Tour is back for 2023 and we are excited to showcase what the South Island has to offer! Hosted by James Kean (@nzcasualhunter) and Cam Sidon (@dirtysouthwaterfowlnz3320) this season looks to bring you more action across a number of different locations in the heart of New Zealand Waterfowl.
For this episode of The Duck Tour we are throwing it back to Opening Weekend here in New Zealand. This is the weekend that everyone looks forward to ever since the last season finishes. It's often described as a Waterfowler's Christmas and to us it is just that! This year we are hunting a pond that has been dry for the past couple of years but none the less we still managed to scratch out a nice stack of birds and get the season off with a bang. Alongside myself and Cam you will see my dad, Paul and Cams dad, Barry and our good mate Brendo who you may recognise from episode 1.

That's a sweet looking pond, I love the shallow water, ducks can reach snails etc easily. Also, Cam seems to be getting camera shy.

5 shot magazines mine holds 5 3” shells. My gun is chambered in 3.5” so technically I would be allowed a longer mag extension than I have on there which they still sell in stores in Nz.
So do the ducks migrate North in NZ?
No the ducks in NZ are non migratory, the majority of birds we hunt are local birds

Hi there good footage if you utude duck language on how to call ducks i see useing the feed call you should drope that and use hen on water creating call come back that guy no what he talking about hope this will help because that the only thing i can see thats letting you down chers duckman
