I've been a fan of Beyoncé's from the early days of Destiny's Child because despite what other credits there are she does have a say and input into her songs, lyrically and melodically. I find that she has done progression the way I think is best. She edges out her genres each time and experiments in an interesting way. Her off best melodies show this. I'm not a love blind fanatic and can see when some things haven't hit the spot like maybe she thought they would but that's why I enjoy seeing her grow as an artist. I would say she's the natural successor to Madonna in pop as it's leader. I find it strange that Justin Timberlake got the VMA Vanguard award before her as he heavily relies on his wardrobe and even heavier on Timbaland and Pharrell to make his career what it is. Also I always see the same type of elitists on these comments and on sites. Mostly male critics who consider only bygone eras of female singers (who sadly were less likely to have a say in their recordings) as credible and always go on to quote their favourite male (especially white males with instruments) as the epitome you have to reach to be considered worthy. She'll continue to make the music she wants and it doesn't matter whether people like it or not as she does something that not many pop stars manage, she manages to entertain and have loyal fans in mass numbers in many different races and I find that rare with many acts which shows the power of her career.

I didn't respect the Facebook post that went around that matched the repetitive chorus to the whole of Bohemian Rhapsody. I didn't respect the Facebook post that went around that matched the repetitive chorus to the whole of Bohemian Rhapsody. They were more lyrics that said a lot more than people gave the song credit to but people picked out what they didn't like against a pop-opera.
I expect a few of those were carried over from the samples.
To be fair, the verses are complex and have a lot of clever rhymes and double meanings. It's not just the chorus
