Kung Fu Flute + Choy Li Fut Footwork

- In this video we explore some of the Flute or short stick fighting strikes from the Choy Li Fut system. Although the form is typically performed with a flute, using a solid more durable stick is suggested for actual application and practical usage. The idea behind using a flute is that you could pick up any short stick and defend yourself, not having to acquire a specific weapon.
This is not a full in-depth lesson on stick fighting, but a simple introduction using some familiar footwork to help with your training. HAVE FUN!

I really love how adaptable these techniques are, you can use them (or modify them) for just about any short rigid weapon, be it a length of bamboo, a fallen branch, a walking stick, a short sword or machete, a baseball bat, or even a sturdy wooden yardstick (or metre rule, if you're anywhere in the world that isn't Burma or USA).
Just received my new machete in the mail. Totally ready to do this combo. Thank you.
Plum blossom let’s you upload this stuff!? Neat! Thank you!
Thank you Sifu Kuttel.
I'm currently working on the Hung Sing Stick, so this video is a fine example of the fluidity I want to achieve. Again, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Really like these ones with more generic weapons, like this one and the cane one.
They say the last thing you hear is a whistling sound getting louder.
I really like this weapon :-)
More on kung fu flute pls
Nice Choy Li Fut-work!
quick question here. any plans 4 a LIVE SHOW anytime soon? it's a most effective method of connecting with ur viewer base. thanks. take it easy.
I haven't really thought of it here on YT. I'm not really sure what to do once we're LIVE though 😅 I'm also currently looking at Discord too.... so we'll see what happens!
Replace the bamboo flute with a Jade Flute, you’d become Huang Yaoshi from Condor Heroes 😊😊😊
Very cool. Does the flute have his own lyric ?. Like chinese kungfu flute lyric, but i just wondering 😅. Like the content 👍.
Informative video.

What belt level is this Flute Technique is taught? And How long to receive black belt in this art?
It depends on the school, I know some schools teach it at the intermediate level, while others include it in the advanced level of their curriculum. It is not a difficult weapon to learn, and when it is taught in the advanced levels, it is because it's considered an addition to the compulsory training.
Hi, Sifu Kuttel. Do you know of any dvds or online training programs that would take a beginner systematically through the Choy Li Fut system? I've found some videos, of course. However, many of them are useful only as visual references and lack explanation; others are limited to forms. Any suggestions?
You can contact my Sifu at Doc-Fai Wong Center in San Francisco about distance learning. There's DVDs and digital downloads for all levels. You can inquire by emailing sfkungfu@gmail.com also, I m slowly putting together content for my own digital learning platform on my website. I don't know when CLF will be up, Tai Chi looks like it will be ready first, but it's all in the works right now.
So it's skima fighting or Pinoy stick fighting
It is similar, but nowhere near the depth of Arnis or Escrima in terms of tactics and fighting techniques. This is more about basic striking techniques with a short stick 💥
