    11:50 the jumper settings are actually the opposite way round (as shown in the user manual)

      Richard i have an idea on how to make a circuit to make the el chepo meter work
      we could make a follow up video 😀
      Hint:Clock dividers 10X

    Far far more impressive and compelling without you saying "yeaaaaaaaaaaaah" every other sentence. Well done! Those silences, just very short pauses, make you sound way more authoritative.

    I believe filler words in video actually makes it like I was sitting next to you learning by your side. Plus it is so much work to edit out. Thanks for your work.

    Hi richard, the Logo looks really nice ,
    one tip i can give you is use the despil slider in the 3d keyer settings in davinci to get rid of the green border on the logo 👍
    Happy you got some use of the logo😁

    Stumbled across your channel, Richard. Great content sir! My expertise is in synthesiser repair, but this has inspired me to try and repair my Palit GTX 680 (Mac Flashed) which fails and hangs with a 'blocky' screen, at driver loading. Let's hope it's saveable! Keep up the great videos. Cheers!

    Hello, the most critical feature of the tool to measure a frequency on a cristal of MCU is the high input impedance, you may try adding a resistor bridge as divider, usuallly with my old Elix oscilloscope i set the probe to X10 to don't disturb the cristal.

    Hello Richard. Does any of your other videos have information on different uses for an oscilloscope in electronics fault finding and repair?? If not could I request that you consider one in the future please. Thanks for the content I am enjoying the channel and picking up some good info 👍

    Just a quick 1 Richard while I'm still watching the video, the instruction mentioned 2 different test positions for the jumper testing in circuit and out did you change the jumper position when testing in circuit? As after the tests it still appeared to be across the bottom 2 which was were you had it for testing out of circuit.

      @iFix Consoles When I was actually taking the readings yes I did change the jumper setting, but it did get changed back later. It was also working for checking signals in circuit when I tried it on the VRM Mosfet gates

      @@LearnElectronicsRepair yes I saw the tests being carried out mate 🙂 watched the video all the way through as always just didn't notice the jumper change hence the ask.
      Awesome video though buddy and a shame it didn't read in circuit

    Hi thanx for the vids - learning a lot from them. Interested to see what you find re what level of oscilloscope is required for this task. If you can reference this to other troubleshooting related tasks a bit as well in passing, that would be helpful. Been wondering if a cheap scope like a FNIRSI 5012H is worth getting for troubleshooting tasks. I feel like it probably is. Seems a lot better than nothing. Occasional use doesnt really justify the expense of a more serious unit. 👍

    Can you show us how to measure the enable signals also on the ic's like the 3 and 5 v ic

    • @LearnElectronicsRepair
      @LearnElectronicsRepair 2 роки тому +1

      @Mr Guru Yeah usually an EN signal is simply a high or low - though it could be pulsed, for example CS (chip select) on a BIOS IC is basically an enable signal.

      @Mr Guru Thanks again, I'll look at logic probes. Anything that helps make test equipment available to everyone even on a tight budget has got to be a goof thing.

    Very nice video!
    I think none of the crystal pin is grounded because its connected directly in the microcontroller. Can you test again using both probes to test the crysral onboard and tell us the result?
    Best regards

      @kostas dontsios
      That's an interesting idea - I also wondered about connecting wires from the crystal socket on the tester to the crystal on the motherboard - via a couple of small capacitors so as not to mess with the DC offset voltage on the motherboard crystal. What do you think?
