I curious that how can you determine particle density of bio char? could you give me the method to do it?

Your response to one of the questions about the environmental impact of pyrolysis was anemic! What was not discussed was the presence of oxides of nitrogen that was released into the environment. These gases are responsible for "Acid rain!" Ignoring the content of the effluent gases could contribute significantly to the destruction of the ozone layer! We must be vigilant that this enthusiasm for biochar does not end up in another environmental disaster and the writing of another "Silent Spring" type book. As a scientist you have the responsibility to question why this issue has not been addressed!

Thanks for voicing your concern. Significant impacts to our climate from biochar production would come from commercial production facilities. Those facilities must comply with the Clean Air Act Standards. If there someone is producing a small batch of biochar on their farm, the emissions are similar to or less than people burning leaves or trash. Unfortunately, these actions are typically not regulated.

The Center for Sustainable Environmental Technologies must be concerned about the Environmental impact of the released pyrolysis gases! We cannot irresponsibly ignore the impact of acid rain or destruction of the ozone layer when peoples lives are in the balance!
