That was actually done in the series. The Galactica did it. (Although I could see how a Cylon ship could do it better) I have a feeling if it jumps too many times in quick succession, it could burn out the FTL drive (out of game).
@@Zachomara The Galactica needed weeks of preparation with ground support to to calculate that double jump and the Raider more or less jumped blindly. I guess it takes a lot of computing power and excellent sensors to pull it off deliberately, especially for large ships. There is probably also a limit to how often you can jump in quick succession (FTL needs to cool down) and you are burning trough fuel pretty fast.
@Schlachti10 That jump did have the heightened difficulty of being done not only into an atmosphere, but also directly next to a planet (which made the calculations more than just extremely difficult). These micro-jumps on much more advanced hardware are done in open space, without having to worry about hitting a mountain and disintegrating half your ship in less than a second.

Have you read Singularity Sky / Iron Sunrise by Charles Stross? If not, I'd recommend a read. There's stuff about closed timelike curves vs spacelike curves.
Operation Raptor Talon Date: 40 BTF 3 Jupiter Mk II Battlestars (Lose 1) Vs: 2 Original Cylon Basestars (Lose 1 Presumably, 1 Leaves when Armistice is signed) 1 Guardian Basestar (Leaves shortly before War ends) In Deadlock it would take 6 Basestars to even hope to destroy a single Jupiter in that situation.
The Guardian Basestar in the new pack is quite the nasty beast. While it only has ventral weapons, those ventral weapons dish out phenomenal amounts of damage comparable to a full battlestar with their sheer volume. Combine with good use of Vespids, focused fire, and good positioning, and I could definitely see a Jupiter going down to such a fleet.
@@vp21ct i agree. They did that Operation quite well in the Armistice DLC which released long after my comment lol. Very unfortunate that Columbia cannot be saved. They capture that feeling of confusion at the sudden ending of the war quite well.

Taking that thing head on with a capital ship is a good way to lose a ship. I'm thinking Vipers, Taipans and Assault Raptors might do the trick. Speaking of the Taipan when can we expect that video?
How exactly are Cylon Basestars flying around at STL speeds? They have no visible engines like the big modules on the Colonial vessels. And the 2004 versions are worse. Nothing but sleek tendril arms. No engine cones or tubes or nacelles. At least the Raiders and Heavy Raiders have clearly visible engines.
They are equipped with Plot Devices from McGuffin Inc. Or, since artificial gravity is a thing in bsg, they could use generate a gravity bubble in the direction they wish to move, effectively making the ship "fall" in that direction, thus not needing anything more than attitude control.

Take all power out of armory on any ship except for the Argos unless you need to repel boarders, then, once all enemies are revealed, take it out of tech bay until you need to tactical jump.
i think it was because most of the first war assest had been retired, like the original centurions, except for the guardians, all of the first cylon war warships had been mothballed and scrapped, to make place for their new biomechanical assets, like the new raiders and basestars. (srry if i spelled something wrong, english is not my first language)
Multiple angles of fire from multiple ships, especially in conjunction with a Janus/Ranger class armor-piercer barrage, combined with a minotaur, Heracles, or battlestar main battery fire. Or keep at a distance and use assault raptors to go ham on it, so that it's heavily damaged, or at least lacking armor, once it gets in range. If you keep a strong flak wall up, it shouldn't be able to hurt you with anything but its guns. Or, do as I do anytime I don't like how a battle is going. A pair of Janus, and you throw six nukes at it
I second William's thoughts. When engaging fleets of heavier armed vessels I tend to either use a Pincer on them with 2 or more ships or form a firing line and circle them. The firing line (similar to what Pegasus and Galactica did in the TV show vs the Resurrection hub) would be most effective vs the Cratus as it'll always be exposed regardless of where it jumps.
I know nukes are a good idea for these things, after eliminating the Raider squadrons. But the tactical jump it can do poses a major counter to this. My main strategy for most battles is eliminate all fighters first, then overwhelm one or two capital ships at a time with coordinated salvos from multiple of my capital ships (As opposed to dish in our widespread minor damage to multiple ships at once)
You mean is THIS First Cylon War in OG BSG? No, this is reboot BSG. First Cylon War was when Admiral Adama was a Viper pilot for reference. If you're asking if OG BSG had its own 'First Cylon War'... No idea
Why the hell didn't the Cylons keep this thing for the second war? The fact that this thing has kinetic weapons rather than exclusively missiles would make it one of the only ships in the Cylons fleet that could realistically pose a legitimate threat to colonial warships.
This ship was never in the series it doesn't make sense one of the reasons for the peace treaty was the Cylons were losing the war they were forced out of the colonies and couldn't match the resources of the colonies
Not needed for attacking planets, civillian ships and battlestars dead in the water. The survival of the Pegasus and Galactica durring the initial Cylon attack was more luck then anything else.

i think it was because most of the first war assest had been retired, like the original centurions, except for the guardians, all of the first cylon war warships had been mothballed and scrapped, to make place for their new biomechanical assets, like the new raiders and basestars. (srry if i spelled something wrong, english is not my first language)
Those base stars could have cut down the exodus of the colonial fleet by half.
I play Deadlock as well.
How the FRACK!? are you supposed to take this down!!! Overpowered much???????
My main strategy for most battles is eliminate all fighters first, then overwhelm one or two capital ships at a time with coordinated salvos from multiple of my capital ships
(As opposed to dish in our widespread minor damage to multiple ships at once)
Just send in a Jupiter flanked by a pair of Artemis battlestars with a couple of Janus cruisers bringing up the rear. You'll be fine
What footage of this vessel am I looking at
Is this meant to be the Blood and Chrome Basestar?
Is the first Cylon war in the timeline of the original Battlestar Galactica?
You mean is THIS First Cylon War in OG BSG? No, this is reboot BSG. First Cylon War was when Admiral Adama was a Viper pilot for reference.
If you're asking if OG BSG had its own 'First Cylon War'... No idea
Until the end I was just saying over and over ...since when. And at the end now I understand.
Isn't this the same type of basestar that the Osiris fought in Blood & Chrome?
It looks similar, but the one in B&C doesn't have its arms flipped top vs bottom... the one in B&C looks more like the Cerberus class in Deadlock
So basically this is the P-38 of the Cylon fleet.
For some reason i have no audio
Why are all the Deadlock Proving Grounds videos so fuzzy?
Recording software probably. Maybe you tubes compression algorithm doesn't like the detailed backgrounds.
Why the hell didn't the Cylons keep this thing for the second war? The fact that this thing has kinetic weapons rather than exclusively missiles would make it one of the only ships in the Cylons fleet that could realistically pose a legitimate threat to colonial warships.
That ship is just broken.
FRACK!!!
Guys, you still don't talk about the battles of Ender's Game.
This ship was never in the series it doesn't make sense one of the reasons for the peace treaty was the Cylons were losing the war they were forced out of the colonies and couldn't match the resources of the colonies
They dropped all ballistic weaponry from the second war Basestar WHY????
Not needed for attacking planets, civillian ships and battlestars dead in the water. The survival of the Pegasus and Galactica durring the initial Cylon attack was more luck then anything else.
There is a third option... you can praise the Lord, AND pass the ammunition.
In-universe, it wouldn't be called "the First Cylon War" until the second was well underway. 😏
rapid reload cluster nukes
Tough talk for a ship that has no chance of outrunning 12 squadrons of assault raptors....
Does it have any weak points that can destroy it?
Short range jump.. .....hmmmm lorca maneuver?.....(MICRO JUMP not micro warp)
If this Base star againts Discovery would be really long battle considering both pulling same trick
BSG, please Sir can I have more.
So, when is improving video on it coming out?
AKA
Scrap it and copy colonial designs.
Hanz getz ze 8,8.
So say we all
I am so going to hate them in the campaign.
I'll beat one or maybe 2 with a Jupiter class Battlestar no problem.
“Ordanance tubes” - that’s a misspelling I haven’t seen before. Maybe they should do a wee bit more proofreading before release day.
