    Without the correct prepositions to combine the words, the sentence doesn't make sense, so the important of this grammar is obvious. Alex, thank you very very much indeed.

    Can they be separated like as, "What is Joanna afraid?" -> "Of failing"
    "She's tired of trying and with work." "It is of trying that she's tired."?
    I think they are understandable but I'm not sure if it is grammatical.

    How about saying "Afraid to" instead of "Afraid of"? Is there a difference between them? Can someone please explain it to me? I'd appreciate that :D

    Is there a grammar rule which compels me to add the preposition "in" after the adjective "interested" ❓ or can I simply say "I'm not interested".

      Yes, you can just say "I'm not interested." If you want to add something AFTER interested to show your interest in something, you have to add...in. :)

    something like that ... "afraid to" goes with bare verb and " afraid of " goes with gerund or clause or noun .... that's what i think although i'm not a native speaker
