The Corrado is a design gem. What a great score.
thank you Andrew
Great find! It's so weird seeing the car I wanted desperately as a kid showing up as a barn find. Dang, I’m old.
That's exactly like the one I bought in '94. I loved that car. Wish I still had it.
Nice 👍
What a beautiful model this was, with VR6 power too. Quite a head-turner. I'd employ a bucket with hot water, Dawn dish washing liquid, and a few ounces of purple stuff to that interior, with a vacuum extractor to finish pulling out the stains.
I thought it was black until you washed it, purple is definitely a colour I like. Its got the classic grey on grey on grey interior that seemed to be everywhere in the 90s
I thought it was black until the next time I was looking at it when getting the SO42 …then he says it’s maroon , that’s not maroon , that’s PURPLE lol
@@5150mxVW lol, definitely not maroon! I miss when cars came in cool colours, now they don't even come in different styles. It just all the same SUV with a different badge.
This purple(aubergine) is like the signature color for the Corrado. It's THE color to have IMO.
SO, well done!
914 is cool as well
"Dark Wine Burgundy"
We had a customer who bought one of those new and daily drove it for the next 25 years. When he decided to sell he produced a thick wedge of repair bills to keep it on the road. Over $21,000 worth of repairs, and this on a car that was well maintained! Careful, these things bite and many parts are simply NLA. Nice that you rescued it, though!
I had a 1994 Corrado vr6 fresh off the showroom floor. I had the car for 2 years until the warranty was up. Probably the most unreliable car I have ever owned... Wish I could say something positive about this car but I can't... From electrical problems , to cooling problems. You name it, it broke... It's to bad because I loved the car. When the warranty was up I got rid of it so fast... !
What! No rust or trees to cut down or wheels buried in the ground! Not often we get to see this happening. Nice looking car. Could be a fun project. Cheers
😂
The colour is first class good luck
Always wanted a Sirocco, nice looking Corrado.
One of my favorite VW’s of the 90’s
👍👍
I literally just bought a 1992 SLC Dark Burgundy to restore and get it back on the road. Keep the rados alive!
Nice ! The Barndubs channel has this one on his lift and he’s going through it . It’s a runner 😎
I've had a '93 in a garage for 20 years...
@@JakeHoffman4life good luck with the revival ....
I rented one of these in Germany when they first came out. Avis. It was brand new. Fantastic car.
nice ! I have yet to drive one
Nice find. Beautiful color.
Thank you Vw5085
Oh sweet baby Jesus she’s beautiful
I miss the Scirocco but I have owned several Corrados. It's a quirky car but in stock condition it is really fun to drive! The Scirocco MK1 is the most fun to drive in my opinion but those are impossible to find now. Enjoy your Corrado!
Dear 5150mxVW
👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic! Congratulations 🎉 for purchasing this wonderful car. It's very well build, relatively strong (180 PS?), pretty bulletproof and definitely better than Porsche and other brands from this area. I say this although I'm not really a VW but Mercedes fan/guy. A good friend of mine had an American model Corrado (although living in Germany). Exterior dark green metallic, interior creme leather, greenblue tinted glass. Simply a dream car. Ran great and handled excellent. Your wife and son will definitely love this car after having driven it. I hope that it's a keeper. Congrats again.
Best regards, luck and especially health to all of you.
Wow! Back in 1992 I bought the exact same car new, down to the same color and pin stripe interior. I still have it.
Doin the 5150 shuffle🎶🎶
it's quite tiring :)
Well that was too easy of a rescue. No frustrations or harsh words. No challenge. THought it was black at first till you started washing and it turned eggplant. Reminds me of an 86 Jetta GLI I had, One of my favorite cars, quick as hell and great fun to drive. interested to see what you do with it.
Wow, One that rolls and has Floors !!
🤣...but can i push it ?
I'm an Aircooled guy, but I'd happily drive that.
Great colour and they just look tough.
I’ve always loved a Corrado and especially a Blackberry VR6 beautiful.
I really like that Corrado. Not a bad color at all! I look forward to seeing you getting it roadworthy.
Beautiful corrado ❤
Thank you
Good luck with the Corrado. Nice car and unusual collar. I hope you keep it.
I absolutely love corrados .
Never had the money back in the day .
Great score I have been trying get my hands on one for 20 years
Thank you ! I was buying the SO42 and the man renting the house had the Corrado inside and sounded like it was time :)
I liked my 89' Jetta GL interior a wee-bit better than the 90's grey plastic, but hey a cool 90's rally style v-dub..and that so 90's purple!...oh baby that curve ready.
Had the 84 Scirocco and the 88 gti 16v, then to the mk3 vr6 and beyond... the corrado slc now that i'm old i'm still looking for till this day. This is a great find I'm so jealous.
you had more than i did , i just had rabbits ...oh, i got to wash ( haha ) the 16v cars from the dealership across the st after our body shop repaired the door handles from break ins . parts just came in to get it fired :)
Love it , It has so many Ques from the Scirocco .
My dream car 🥲
I remember clearly like if it was yesterday when we moved to live in the U.S.A. in '91 and my cousins (who are American) gave me a bunch of car magazines from 90-91 'cause they knew I liked cars. Being from Argentina, watching the cars being sold in the U.S. at the time was almost like watching space shuttles to me! The Corrado was one of the first I saw, along with the Nissan 300 and the S10 and Lumina Coupe from Chevrolet. Unfortunately I've never even got to sit in one of these Corrados but I still remember it and I still like it, as it's a pretty cool car.
La guantera no es un nido de ratones ! Eso es un muy buen inicio ! jaja Saludos desde Uruguay !
It's from the 90s and purple so it should be named Barney. Lol
Looks like a solid car !
Gotta love the Corrado
😎😁
It looks like a very solid car. It’s going to need a lot of cleaning. Great video.
Looks Great! I think the purple will grow on you.
Man that car is in amazing shape, currently have 3 corrados and owned 5 in my lifetime. Id be thrilled to find a barnfind like that. Id take a bit more care in opening the doors more on the softer side otherwise you will soon see you will have to be replacing parts. Learnt that the hard way. Car is stunning
Great find, I look at that as an 8 year old Corrado. Great time capsule.
Finally first!! Nice Van Halen Shirt!! Ewwww that headrest 🤢
The cat kept the mice away for the most part 😁
Ohhh that Corvair is sweet!
That’s a nice color.
Porsche rescue ✌🏻
Nice VW Jason! 😍
thank you, and even a splash of Dubwerks at the end for you ;)
@@5150mxVW I appreciated that. 😊 His 914 will need some TLC. The Corrado is nice looking enough to drive. Will it be a keeper?
What a great find Jason!
Always wanted one of these, never had opportunity.
thank you, me either !
Proud owner of a Dragon Green '94-loved it! FYI, if you cover all the basics, and it still won't start, check the coil pack. These were encased in resin, which shrank over time, letting in moisture.
What a Gem!! Beautiful Survivor especially the Vr6 in that color. Beauty
Very nice find 👌
thank you , needs a fuel pump , hope to get it installed this week
I am the 2nd owner of a 1990 G60 (now lysholm twin-screwed) and I love her...owned since ~2000.
Great find
@5150mxVW btw I may have one or two of those BBS caps laying around.
Nice, i haven't driven a G60...I don't need an 80's / 90's H2O fever coming on though , i'm out of room already :)....we that and $ lol
thank you, i have all 4
@@5150mxVW I don't suggest it either; but, lmk if you want to sell it! 😉
Such good looking cars, love the colour
Good looking car. Love that front end.
Receptive, her car now!
Nice find Jason and I’m sure Jen liked the car because it wasn’t the usual barn find you come home with LOL, it’s in really nice shape all this one looks like it needs is some good old fashioned elbow grease, and I love the colour of it, as others have said I originally thought it was black so when you washed it and the light hit it and it revealed that nice deep purple I went sweet out loud. That cars a keeper for sure
Nice color 😊👍
Egg plant grows on you like Barnie everyone sing along eh!!!😅😂
haha!
Thats a nice car. The colour is cool. And the motor
Great find Jason. I love the Sirocco so this is a great car too. As someone else said I thought it was black until you washed it but the colour does suit the car. I think it should be fine once the brakes and fuel are done and also a full service. I think Jen will like it when it is running. Thanks Jason, have a good weekend. 👍👍
Start buying lottery tickets - this is pissing me off mow mate - thats in great shape, perfect OEM + candidate and daily driver as is once you fix the AC 🤣
Awesome find.Wish I had one.
This video remembers me how much i miss my Corrado.
My first car in 2006 was one of the last build left-steered Corrados. A late 1994 2.0L (115hp) in dragon green - pearl effect. Dumb as i was in my youth, I sold it in 2010 to buy me a GTI Mk6. I still have the GTI and it‘s a good car, but driving a Corrado is something special, even here in Germany. Sadly Corrados in good condition are rare and expensive nowadays. But maybe some day…🥲
Greetings from Germany
Haven't seen one of those in years.
I don't recall ever seeing one. Guess it was one of the many from that time period that looked simular. It has a fastback line to it !
Wow J ,what a cool find! I’m not familiar with the Corrado so I can’t wait to see you getting it back running. Nothing wrong with purple 😁 thanks J!!
It's Plum nit purple
Same....not familiar with the Corrado either. Guess she's a real bomb and head snapper.
Love it , my favourite VW by far , wish I'd kept mine 😢
Hey Jason! Good to see another rescue, even if you didnt have to dig this one out! i have to admit the i was partial to the 914 i saw at the end, more my speed. Thanks again for doing what you do, i always look forward to your hi jinx!
thank you ! check out Dubwerks channel for the 914 , thank you again
Nice car, love the color!
havent seen one for ages on german street
looks better than in my memories
I thought it was black before you washed it 😂beautiful color
i saw it twice and thought it was blk
this v dub will have your wife happy
Friend of mine bought the last remaining set of OEM door seals for these in the country a few years back for a Corrado project he had going. If there's any one person that I think you need to contact regarding that car and anything in it, it would be him. I think he's still up here on youtube still @DoogieLabs but he hasn't posted anything in a bit. gotta push him to make a new video soon.
He has a couple projects going including a project to replace the ECU with a megasquirt and hook that into a replacement dash cluster in his big project Corrado with electro-luminescent touchscreen displays for all the gauges and controls, from old Sun Microsystems server chassis. Right now he's finishing up a move into a house with his wife (just got married!) but I'm betting if you pass him an email for anything he'd be more than willing to answer any single question you have on the car. While your plans aren't necessarily as grandiose as what he's doing, he's definitely the first call I'd make for anything regarding a corrado of any year and any engine.
I will say that something he did when he recently revived a sitting-6-years '90 Corrado G60 he had to immediately drain the tank and replace the fuel pump/sending unit and tank seal. I'm guessing in your case that's going to be extra necessary so be mindful of that before you start willy nilly dropping gas into the thing and assuming the pump is going to be good. This is definitely a car to run a double-can-tank of Berryman in for the first couple tanks to ungunk the injectors. I can also remember him going on about something with the wing actuator needing to be looked at if it sits otherwise it won't open at the right speed, but to what degree I couldn't tell you. Something to definitely ask him or do reading on. These cars go for a LOT of money on the used market in good shape, to the point that pristine examples go for silly money, especially if they're very close to original like yours is there... in fact, that car is so original at 30 years old that I wouldn't be surprised if it went for current bug prices.
Such an underrated car good looks and decent performance
it's certainly getting the love lately
My gently used AllTrack with just 31K miles (a COVID shutdown car) turns 4 years old soon…my goal is to keep it as tip-top condition as the original owner did. He was meticulous and I for one appreciate the TLC he gave our VW.
Hello mate that's a cracking car
Thank you Mr M
Sweet car. I’d make it my daily.
The Corrado is a great car !!! Love them
yes, the end all tell all....or just. know your Vw's :). 64-65 only steering wheel and a small window car... 1964 . Yes, horn ring / wheel could have been changed
That's a clean car in a great color!
i use to own a 1996 Corrado, one the run out / last off prodution line versions. known as a VR6 Storm here in europe. 2.9 engine.. one thing, be interesting to see if the sunroof works, most the time on these they broke ☹
Cool car👍
Cool find!
thank you Jim
@@5150mxVW where in Ct are you? I’m not a stalker😁 I grew up in Manchester and live in Ohio now.
Wow, I thought it was black before you washed it!
You can tell a lot about a guy by the way he takes care of his car.
I agree with the statement but let’s look on the bright side…we wouldn’t have any rescue/will it run content on UA-cam if not for neglectful owners😂 😂😂
Having owned many I realise now the true difference in ride from a VW to an Audi is night and day. VW are clunky while the Audi ride is brilliant. Would much like to watch a score on that, cheers.
Красивый Фольксваген! Видео супер!
What a class wee car love seeing these in person , dam Jason your gonna run out of room 😂 I've never seen a guy buy so many cars fair play to you ,you inspire me I just need some money 😂😂
Awesome love a corrado 😍😍
finally drove it last week ! fun car
Wow great score... Very cool color 😎 Have a good weekend.... looks like lots of cleaning ahead...
Where'd the music come from??? NICE catch, great car.
Could easily be a daily driver, what a score!👍🏻
Almost a root beer color or wine color LOL. No doubt the VR6 is going to be easier than the G60 all the way around whether finding any parts if needed or buying them.
🇦🇺another great find
thank you
It's my favorite color, so you know I freaking love it! 😂 I hope to see more of it!
When these came out I took one for a test drive at a VW store in ATL. Stayed gone an hour. Got in a little trouble. Ha!
Was just watching a vid about the Corrado the other day...I believe it replaced the Scirocco, right??? But they were pricey!
Anyways, I've always wanted one of these, too. I think that color is really cool!
So jealous of your collection lol
We want more Corrado videos
it's done ! ready for it's 1st drive
Nice looking car ...you got toooooooooo many projects 😊
I’m looking for a vr6 slc great find
good luck on the search , thank you
Absolutely love these, always have.
😁😁
Excellent video Jason :) also never seen one those cars ever and heard about them ! Hopefully see lots videos on Jason :) nice shape in to also get running and test plus drives forever!
thank you Andrew !
i want to follow just for corrado videos!
Very nice car & in super condition!
Thank you Mike
Beautiful Corrado AND an SLC to boot! This is the one to have and this is actually a great color for them. A good interior cleaning and it'll be like new. The G60's were nice but the superchargers tended to blow up. So when are you heading bac to NH? 😁
Nice Corrado.
thank you 76
Nice car! You deserve a nice one after all your hard work
thank you Rus :)
