- On facebook I saw a post regarding one who wanted to sell a Bavaria 39.
The boat was well equipped with everything I needed and to the right price, so I made an appointment to see the boat the upcomming weekend.
The boat was located in the south part of Denmark at a island called Lolland.
A very nice and spacious boat with two bathrooms and a lot of standing headroom all over the boat.
The engine was a Volvo Penta D2-40 wich means not the smallest but not the biggest in the assortment.
Overall I liked the boat a lot but something I realized was it would not be an easy job to remove the mast every year.
The boat would also be on the the large size regarding standing in my old boat stand and it would also require a large crane due to the 8283 kg. boat weight.
The boat was bought from new by a rich russian man and then sold in Porez Croatia to a Danish couple in 2016.
The couple then sailed the boat home til Denmark and owned the boat from 2016 to 2020 where it was sold to it's current owners.
date of filming : April 2. 2023
price of the boat : 103877 US Dollars
Looked like a lovely BAV39
Tino, get the boat and start sailing!!!! have FUNNNNN🤩
Have a great season 😊
Dear Tino,.. I'm a 39 owner myself so looked with interest at the video. I got a little worried with the last seacock you tested. The greening on the brass bend could indicate de-zinking of the brass. After some horrifying stories of similar aged boats ive changed mine all to plastic. Now you mentioned the boat is allready sold. But this is truly something to look out for.
Good luck with Bav hunting.
Seacocks in the aft head is located under the bench seat in the shower in case you go looking at more 39's. I would be worried about the bilge water. With a stepped mast bilge should be bone dry at all times. Own a 39 myself and think its a great boat for the price
Thanks for the info. Right in this moment I'm looking at the 2004 Bav38 and the 2006 Bav37 🙂
Nice boat
Dear Tino, this is a very nice boat, I don't see any flaws.
Did you check the sails? It would be good to inspect the underwater part of the hull to see if it has any osmosis. or impact damage, probably not but you never know.
Dear Tino, are you thinking of buying a boat that is in slightly worse condition but cheaper. You are very good at fixing things on the boat, I'm sure you would bring it to perfect condition.
Greeting,
Hi. Do u know where is bilge pump's seacock in Bavaria?
Dear Tino, this looks like a decent boat. I bought a BAV 36 cruiser from 2006 last year and used your channel as a reference. Key question is: Do you want to go solo sailing with it? My experience: 36ft is the max I can handle, going solo from a 32ft boat to a 39ft boat is a leap forward. Price is steep and you pay for the gadgets like the gangway and the sensor taps. Have a look athe auto pilot. The boat was in Croatia, probably in charter; you need to take it out of the water and assess the keel even before making a bid. Look for stress cracks on the deck. Keel bolts? Would not believe the story about a rich Russian. Vat is paid I assume. Look at similar boats and make an offer, their price is too high.
36ft is not the max with a well equipped boat. I've been sailing my 42Cr solo for over 15 years now. Bow thruster, decent auto pilot and electric winches do the job. And the winches aren't even a must-have for solo sailing. Oh, and of course a backtow life vest and lines on the deck :)
I agree, going from a Bav 31 to a 39 I found the 39 much easier to handle single handed. Doesn’t do anything silly (like round up in sudden gusts) but a bow thruster is essential, especially as the Marina I was in had a lock to negotiate
@@richardwyman5975 I have now discovered that there are two plateaus for additional winches near the wheel. I added two winches ( Antal 40 1750 Euros) at the back which makes solo sailing easier, I can now tack from behind the wheel without having to jump in the cockpit. This boat has them installed, but they look like 16 or 20 winches, rather small. Just back from 2 weeks of sailing in tiny ports in Holland. A bowtruster would have been handier. 👌🏻
Hele 2 dannebrog!?!
Ja man går ikke ned på udstyr her 🙂
