  • After almost two years, my 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV W/T has arrived. I placed an order for one of these trucks back in 2022 to play around with and then flip. However, after a long wait and Chevrolet's continuous price hikes from $39,995 to $80,045, I canceled my order. However, the dealer has been constantly informing me that my truck has arrived, so I figured I would go look at it.

    I’m no huge fan of EVs but it sounds like you ordered an expensive ones that’s a 4WT so it’s not the base. The base one is around 43K. So it’s kind of misleading the way you are making it seem like you ordered a 39K truck and got a 80K truck. You just placed a blind order apparently.

      Yeah no vehicle is going to double in price like that unless he got one of the higher trims.

      When I ordered the truck, GM said it was around $40k. I placed my order, they never specified that the first orders would be a 4WT. It wasnt until several months later that GM announced it would start at $77k, prompting a TON of canceled orders. Mine included. The point of this video was to show my $40k preorder to the actual truck that arrived on the lot. The value of WT is a joke compared to the Lightning. An ICE Silverado is much more attractive in pricing for overall performance and value.

    For dailys & short trip vehicles sure EV are ok. Im all for synthetic fuels are the future to save ICE cars & the infrastructure.

      The Silverado has a 500+ mile range, that's a long daily.

      @@noiisserpmii You do know that EV's have greater torque and power than ICE? The torque curve is flat too from 0, unlike ICE which has a narrow torque range. These days the only realistic complaint you can have against EV's are charging, but remember you can't gas up at home.

      @@Gnosticware yeah nobody cares tho.. why would hp and torque matter if its not as reliable and harder to repair? Also EV's tend to be software locked and annoyingly controlled by the manufacturer.

    I like how you're proclaiming EV's as being dead already, just like in the early ICE days when there was no infrastructure people claimed the same. On the Silverado it's still the very, very early release, only First Editions have gone out to the ones who have to be first, and these overly priced WT's which go to Fleet 1st edition holders. Take a look at the LT trim releasing in early September, that will be priced below $80k to capture the Federal rebate, and the WT will drop in price too to match.
    And on Federal rebates it's signed into law, it would take another act of Congress to repeal them btw.

    • @TheMoparJunkie
      @TheMoparJunkie  День тому

      If that’s the case with the LT model, then these W/Ts will be sitting there forever! As for being signed into law, that can change in January on the 20th with the signing of a pen! Current trends, sales, and surveys say EVs are on the decline in favor of PHEVs and hybrids, which are far cheaper and make more sense.

      People defending EVs don't want to admit nobody wants them. They have no range. They keep talking infrastucture. Yes that is the issue, but the bigger issue is RANGE. Not to mention if you live in the midwest in Winter, those batteries are not charging. No resale value, after 6 some years need to replace the battery which can cost north of $18,000, more than the worth of the vehicle add to the fact nobody would want to buy it.

      Uh no, dude. I wouldn't drive an EV if you gave it to me. I had a 2013 plug-in Chevy Volt, and the car didn't even last to 110k miles before a battery cell needed to be replaced. It was tremendously expensive to retrofit the house electrical system to support level 2 charging, and the inconvenience of charge times meant I was limited in where and when I could drive. The dealer wanted $6,000 to locate and replace the bad battery cell. I don't care if EVs get better over time, I'm unwilling to give them another shot under any circumstances. Not most circumstances, ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. I will be the last human being on the earth driving an ICE car.

    • @Gnosticware
      @Gnosticware 18 годин тому

      OK, whatever, that's fine, I've also spent way more than that on ICE repairs, like thousands to replace a 50c gasket. Anyhow yeah I'm sure there were guys in early last century saying they'll be the last one driving a horse drawn carriage too, so whatever works.

      @@KeithHendrickson1981 "They have no range" - That Silverado has 500 mile range. "Using them in cold country" Norway EV adoption is up around 90%. Watch TeslaBjorns channel to see him drive to the Arctic Circle in winter, camp, and drive back the next day. BTW in an EV you can keep the climate control on overnight. "Resale, price, cost" Yeah but last I checked markets change and after release new tech gets cheaper.
