I bought a baritone ukulele 4 years ago. It came with two wire wound strings. They lasted 5 weeks so I replaced them with Worth Brown. Once fully stretched they stay in tune. Another advantage is that there is none of the scraping one hears while fingering wire wound strings. I highly recommend Worth strings.
Fascinating comparison Marc, thanks for posting. I was delighted with Ken Middleton's Living Water on my Kala Acacia Baritone. My Pono Baritone is the steel strung UL4-1 have you tried this larger body model? Currently using Thomostik Infield Vienna Flat wound (JS33 & 23 - P16 &12). I have thought of trying Classical Acoustic strings, but have been told they would be too Dull?
Thank you! I was eyeing up the UL4-1 but it was snapped up before I could get my hands on it, did you buy it from World Of Ukes in late 2020 by any chance? 😉 Next on my list at the moment is the Worth Clears then I might go back to the strings pono use initially because I think I prefer them
@@MarcGallagherMusic nearly all of my instruments come from the Southern Ukulele Store, Dorset, well worth the round trip of 240 miles. Such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable team, with great reviews on UA-cam. Check out Alex’s new string range in conjunction with Rotosound.
@@MarcGallagherMusicdo they wear out fast? I haven't even played my baritone ukulele for 12 hours and the round wound Aquila strings are significantly worn down. I want longer lasting strings...

I agree, I put Worth clear on my Kala baritone, and the D & G feel too stretchy. F chord 1-1-2-3 sounds out of tune
I’m hoping that as the strings settle in, I won’t have the same problem
Hi. I also dislike round-wound strings. Did you have a recommendation for flat-wound? Or did I just miss that video...
I have since tried D’addario Titanium strings and I love them, still have them on!

@@dorktwat I think they last a good few months, the odd broken D string notwithstanding
