Would it not been easer just to draw a line from each corner to make an X that would be your center where they crossed.

A quick tip is I purchased a metric ruler.

I have a center finding tape measure that does the same thing. Read the overall length on the bottom and find the same measurement on the top.

Couldn't see what you were doing with the rulers. A close up would have been better.

You wouldn’t just measure your best guess at middle from both sides then half that small gap ?
Save fanny’ing around with magnets and rulers? What if it’s longer than your rulers 🤔

Very difficult way to solve a simple problem. Much easier to use your ruler, tape measure, etc., and lay it diagonally across the board. Adjust the diagonal until a convenient number is found (in this case, 22"). Divide the "convenient number (22) by 2 to get 11" and make your mark there. Could also use 25" for the convenient number (tick mark at 12.5"), 26" (tick at 13"), etc. Always works!

Here in Europe using the metric system makes mental arithmetic much easier for dividing measurements! - but a good tip nevertheless.

21 11/16 … Jesus Christ. Just go metric.

21 11/16? Half of 21 and half of 11/16. So 10.5 and 11/32. Still with me, lazy art math guy? 10 16/32 + 11/32 = 10 27/32. Go cut. No need for two rulers, a magnet, or fear of simple math.

Metric system helps solve that. But I love your channel and your tips I’m always impressed

Avoid awkward math with Metric system.

Nice tip! I actually have a center finding rule but the markings are kind of clunky and less than precise.

Well... that would work IF you had TWO rulers that begin at ZERO AND are graduated the same. Wouldn't be easier to set a straight edge at opposite opposing corners, drawing a small tick mark at the proposed center then rotate corners and another tick mark? That intersection would be the board's dead center. Then using a square extend the center across the board. (It takes longer to explain then to perform.)

I don't know why there are so many centering rule vids and recommendations
All that is necessary is to put a ruler long enough to go off/to the ends of the piece and use the 3" or 6" or 12" (center of the ruler) and then make the same measurement on both sides, down to a 1/64" if necessary.
The Is what I do (and I have a centering rule).
