@@TheCyberMantis So I had a listen to a few of their most popular (according to UA-cam views) songs. I'll admit I'm not the biggest fan of European Power metal, as I tend to find it a bit cheesey, but I didn't mind listening to Lost Horizon. My sample size is probably too small to form reliable opinions, but from what I did hear, I thought the drumming was exceptional, but the other instrumentation was good, without being elite. If there are any specific songs of their's that you consider stand-outs, let me know and I'll listen to them.

It's always nice to see a musician really appreciate just how incredibly talented and technically-proficient this whole band is. Lovebites was formed back in 2016, so they've only really played together for about 4 years at the time of this concert. Welcome to Lovebites, the Wolfpack, Lovebites fans around the world will be along to give you information and recommendations.
Lovebites are a Japanese metal band, formed in 2016 by Miho, Bass, and Haruna, Drums, who are former members of Destrose, a band that broke up in 2015. They take much of their influence from the 1970's and 80's British and European bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica. Miho left the band in 2021 for personal reasons.
In 2019 Lovebites toured the UK with Dragon Force. The first Japanese all female band to play the Wacken festival in Germany. Miho is a big fan of Steve Harris from Iron Maiden and is influenced by his playing style.
The current members are,
Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained in Ballet Dancing and before Lovebites was a R&B singer. She writes many of the lyrics and sings in English, not easy for a native Japanese speaker.
Midori, Guitar. The blond 'Amazon Warrior' who is also a body builder.
Miyako, Guitar, Piano and Keyboards. the 'serious' one with long black hair. She is a classically trained pianist who writes much of the music, often incorporating classical themes into her compositions..
Both Guitarists play lead, swapping lead and rhythm as required. They play amazingly good harmonised dual solos.
Fami, Bass. The 'new girl', recruited as replacement for Miho in late 2022 when she was 20 years old and still at university, playing her first live show with the band in March 2023. She has her own YT channel that has nearly 700,000 subs. Check out her 'Alien Alien' Slap Bass cover from when she was about 16.
Haruna, Drums. The 'Little BIG Engine'. a tiny lady, 1.45 meters tall, who is the power house that drives the band. I saw Lovebites live in London recently, and watched Haruna in awe. She plays fast and precisely throughout concerts that can be up to near 2 hours long.

Welcome to the Wolfpack. Named after the Grammy winning song "Love Bites (So Do I)" by Halestorm. Lead singer , Asami, has joined Lzzy and Halestorm at Download 2019 , to perform that song. Miyako and Midori (blond pony tail) can shred with anyone, IMO 2 of the best today. Haruna is a beast on drums. Original bassist ,Miho, is seen here. She left in 2021, replaced by Fami in Oct 2022. Miho and Haruna formed the band in 2016, after their former band Destrose, broke up. Influences include Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Slayer, and Helloween. They toured with Dragon Force in 2019. Some songs lean towards power metal, some towards thrash, and some ballads. Miyako is classically trained on piano, she is concert pianist level, she picked up guitar much later.

LOVEBITES is a five-member all-female, Japanese heavy metal band with deep musicianship (plus classical music/piano background). They transcend gender, genre, and geography, with some 60 songs in their discography. At the moment of the concert LOVEBITES was togther around 4 years. They've wind the 2 years after the creation the METAL HAMMER GOLDEN GODS of the best new band in 2018.
Welcome to the Lovebites magic. Great reaction BTW. They have so many songs. I highly recommend "Set the word on fire" or "Hammer of wrath" if you want trashier song, or one of the best ballad ever written and performed "Epilogue", you can see M&M (Miyako and Midori, guitarists) starting the song on acoustic guitars and Miyako (dark haired guitarist) playing piano, real masterpiece.

So, neither guitarist had much over 10 years experience at the time of this performance. And if anything could top that, the vocalist Asami was an aspiring ballerina and lounge R&B singer until being asked to audition for LOVEBITES, which became her first rock band experience.
It really is unbelievable they can play at such a high level given the info above!

Nice reaction. I always love to see someone that is a musician do a first time reaction to the Metal Queens 👑. You understand the complexity and difficulty of what they are doing on stage. After listening to rock and metal for 40 years I have not seen a better all around band and definitely no better guitar duo than Midori and Miyako (dark hair). going in completely blind - i would say they definitely opened your eyes - wide open. chances are that you won't find a pair of guitarists anywhere these days that can match the technical ability and accuracy that midori and miyako have. flawless to the point of ridiculousness. you will have fun with LOVEBITES - top of the metal heap.
Haruna, the drummer, is only 4' 7" give or take an inch. I cant remember at the moment and too lazy to look it up.
I've often wondered how her hight affected her setup.
I'm 60 and a big RUSH fan from back in the day and would love to see her version of one of The Professor's drum builds.

I'm a couple of years younger than you and RUSH is my favorite all time band and LOVEBITES is my current favorite. This will be the first band I have ever traveled any distance to see live I enjoy them that much. My personal favorite song is 'Edge of the World', one of their more progressive songs (Rush fan remember). Peace.

They play Eclectic Metal. It means they blend as the first band in history all kind of metal mainly power and thrash with NWOBHM,
heavy metal, symphonic metal, speed metal,hair metal, hard rock, rock, rock'n'roll, jazz, progressive pieces, funk and even punk. They mix all with classical music using operatic, R&B, soul and gospel skills of vocalist and grand piano and Spanish guitar skills playing. Sometimes they use typical Japanese melodic lines which are included in ENKAs_ melancholy ballads singing by Japanese women. Only their can do it. Obviously they draw a lot from British, German and American metal. All this makes their style unique.

Great reaction. I have a lot to tell you. The blonde guitarist Midori started her guitar carrier from ESP guitar school at her twenty and she has been a pure ESP artist since then. As a Japanese man myself, I admit we tend to "speak" and sing with head voice but the singer Asami is called a female Bruce Dickinson. Iron Maiden has given them a great influences. The band founder bassist Miho (regretfully she left the band) is a great fan of Maiden and Sterve Harris. Miho and Steve know each other in person. I've been listening to metal for 5 decades and these ladies are the most talented band I have ever heard. Elite musicians that are excellent song composers. The entire Japanese metal/rock scene is incredible. Lovebites, Nemophila, Band-Maid, Hanabie, East of Eden and many others. You're in for a treat as you dive deeper.

Miyako (dark hair) only started the guitar (self-taught ... ) at 18 (after having played piano to a very high level since she was 3) and Midori (blonde) ... at 20. As a veteran guitarist (with not a fraction of their talent), it was the greatest honor and pleasure to meet them three weeks ago in Belgium. And yes, they're amazing live!

I think Bruce Dickinson has been the most common vocal comparison for Asami the singer, quite a few reactors have hit on it.
Miyako, the dark haired guitarist, has a signature guitar, might well be esp, I forget.
Miho the bassist, and one of the founders, unfortunately left a while ago, but fortunately was replaced by Fami who is also a great bassist. Yeah the bass tapping caught me of guard the first time I saw this as well. I am sure it's happened plenty before but it's the first time I have ever seen it.
Haruna the drummer and other founder, is a machine.
That leaves Midori the other guitarist, the showy, in a good way, one :)
That's another band off your tick list, and now fully on your radar.
Plenty of Lovebites amazing live performances, insane solos, insane synched guitar duets, awesome vocals etc in your future. They have about 55 or something songs. They are the only band that tops 40 songs in my "favourite songs of all time playlist", and the bands behind them are a good way behind number of songs wise. It's just ridiculous.
I think they have caused about half of their fans to start learning guitar, and the other half to quit.
The whole reliving that first time you really got into music phase again is exactly what I have had with the Japanese, and especially Japanese women, metal / rock / punk scene as well. It's glorious.
Miyako has Dean signature guitars. She also owns some Gibson guitars. Midori plays ESP guitars.

Here some information about them:
The band was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album came out in 2017. So far LOVEBITES have released 4 albums, some Singles/EPs and also a bunch of DVD/Blu-ray live recordings.
Back in 2018/2019 LOVEBITES have already toured in Europe, including appearances at the major metal festivals as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop. In 2018 they also won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band.
Then came covid, their original bass player and founder Miho quit the band for personal reasons and two babies were born. After a break LOVEBITES came back with new bassist Fami and new song „Judgement Day“ in late 2022. A new album with the same title came out in February 2023.
LOVEBITES just finished touring in Europe. I saw them for the first time 3 weeks ago 🤘🏼🐺🔥
They will be in the US later this year.

Plays very fast pace over long distances, she is very efficient and her stamina is admirable, the cymbal work is outstanding, she also wrote one of their songs including lyrics, creates handmade miniature fake food
Fami on bass since 2022 (shining fingers):
Absolute bass prodigy with outstanding technique, she speaks faster than sonic speed as she plays and smiles non-stop
Miho on bass until 2021 (natural born headbanger):
We will never forget her, she is a great bass player, she wrote several of the songs for the band’s albums 1-3

The only thing missing is their hight.
I find them being as short and delicate as they seem to be a major impact on people when they hear how hard they play.
I think they said something once about "We're not here to be cute. We're here to be metal".
But I always think of their size when it come to Haruna's drum setup and Miyako and Midori's speed. Tiny hands and fingers make the spaces between the frets more accessible and as a guitar player with big hands and long fingers, the opposite seems like huge advantage when it comes to speed.
Fami is just lightning fingers with a 10,000,000watt smile.

Welcome to Lovebites! You are in for a real treat exploring this band if your favorite band growing up was Iron Maiden, and bands like that. They bring that back, along with influences from other places, and make it their own. The talent and skill is world class, and they are absolutely amazing (I'd argue even better) live. I love Asami's voice too. She sings like that through the entire set. I'd say they are the best metal band in the world. At least I think so. They're my absolute favorite band. I highly recommend checking out some more things from them. They have a number of MVs and live things on their official channel, many live performances on other channels, and due to the current tour, a lot of fan cam footage. They're touring currently. I'm going out West to see their west coast shows, because they didn't announce anything in the northeast. Here's hoping they can add some northeast shows, but I am not sure it fits their schedule.

I agree about Asami (the singer). Among Japanese singers she's exceptional. That may be because she has a background in soul and R'n'B and cut her teeth on Alicia Keys and Aretha Franklin songs and such.
Another Lovebites reco would be Set The World On Fire live, or with new bassist Fami, Judgement Day (either MV or live). (Miho on the bass left in 2021 for personal reasons and was replaced after a public round of auditions with bass wunderkind Fami in 2022.)
Yup, that's LOVEBITES. They blew me away just like you the first time I heard them. Instantly became y new favorite band and they've held that spot for over 3 years now for me. Just a phenomenal band, every member has elite level talent. Now do one with their new bass player - react to their song Judgement Day live or music video, preferably live.

Welcome to Lovebites!! I like how you did the Blind reaction without context. Sometimes people don't do that, and they end up with preconceived opinions of the band, which I did 3 years ago. After listening to other Japanese bands, I was able to listen to this band faithfully, after a couple music videos I was completely hooked, 2 years later, I have every CD, Blu-ray and can't wait to see them live in September here in the USA.
Great reaction to a great band. FYI Haruna the drummer is a good friend of Akane, The drummer for Band Maid, and both bands support each other, quite common with Japanese musicians.
I love that it's not about competition, but embracing one another...still so much to learn from Japan!

Great first time reaction to LOVEBITES. When the band formed they considered themselves as the lone wolf as they didn't follow the usual look and style associated with heavy metal. The wolf figures on all their album art - hence the wolfpack for us international followers. They excel at live performances. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
There are three tapping parts in this song, and although it may be difficult to tell since they are shown one by one, three people are tapping at the same time in three different places on stage.
Midori (guitar/blonde hair) is a graduate of ESP's musician training school "MI JAPAN," and she has created several original guitars with ESP students and staff.
Miyako (guitar/dark hair) uses Gibsons and others, but mainly Dean Guitars, and she is the only female musician among the 20 musicians for whom Dean has released a signature model.
I find it interesting that Midori is using passive pickups with a Kemper, however Miyako is using Fishman actives and a 5150 and what I think is an Orange Rockerverb?
You could do a live Lovebites performance reaction once a week for 52 weeks and still be blown away with each one. A common phenomenon seems to be that each subsequent reaction to Lovebites is the reactor’s favorite song, no matter in which order you watch them.😊

So lets look at the current wave of Japanese Rock and Metal that has become the World Wide Phenom over the last Decade! Prior to this current era there were plenty of Fantastic Japanese Groups out there...they just were not as well known to the West. The change has a lot to do with UA-cam and other Social media and...BABYMETAL!!
Everyone that is now following Japanese Rock and Metal are well aware that it was Babymetal that opened the door to the West for all of these Japanese groups when they went viral with their song "Gimme Chocolate" back in 2014. I'm not going to suggest you start with that song...because it went viral for all the wrong reasons. Its one of their most "Poppy" songs and it caused an extreme reaction in people - " W T F "...Heavy Metal meets Japanese Idol...so you can imagine what the Metal Elite's reaction was! And a War ensued, which Babymetal WON! LoL!!
Anyway, the top groups you hear bantered around the most are "Babymetal", "Band Maid", "Love Bites", "Nemophila", "Hanabie", "Gacharic Spin", "Ningen Isu", "Maximum the Hormone", "X-Japan", "Wagakki Band", "Mary's Blood", "Loudness", "Dir En Grey", and SOOOOO Many Others!!! And there are many newer up and coming groups you have yet to find!

Yeah, BABYMETAL is why I'm looking into Japanese bands right now, they opened the door to a lot of what I never thought I would listen to before. I own their entire discography, have seen them 3x last year...even took my 8 year old son to see them, as he's such a fan...he sung "Time Wave" for his school talent show!
