You are brilliant! I have struggled with this for years and I needed a solution to add film grain to a solid color - to extend a blue sky - and have it match the existing photo. Three or four swipes on the slider bars in blur - and it was exact! Thank You!

Would love if you could make an updated video on how to export to Instagram with grain added to the image and not have the grain sharpened when one of the sharpening options are added after exporting. I don’t know if I’m making sense
why the "field blur" option grayed and cant be clicked when the layer turn into smart filter ? I tried the field blur in regular layer but there's no "effect" "motion effect" "noise" options
When I choose Field Blur, pop up window says "Could not complete the Field Blur command because the initial bounding rectangle is empty." I have to duplicate the photo layer (so that it is not a background), then choose filed blur What should I do in order to do it in your way?
The first method sounds ideal but I have gone to blur gallery and field blur and dont have those three tabs inc the all important noise. CS6. so where are these options ? You dont say what version of photoshop you are using.

There is a 4th mode: Camera Raw > Effects > Grain. Less flexible of Blur Gallery but still useful and fast.
