    I’m amazed how fast it curves with the steam. Doing it by hand would normally take a lot longer than that. I use a steamer for my clothing all the time but never in 100 years would I think to use it on a hat. Thanks for this!!

    HUGE thank you for this video! I'd been curving the brims of my fitteds either by hand or with the Culture Kings curving tool, and wasn't thrilled with the results as I like that deep curve - tried your method with what I had available (a hot water kettle and a protein shaker 🤣) and the results were so much better! Will be shaping my hats this way going forward. Absolute lifesaver!

    Blow dryers work in a pinch! Chuck a couple elastic bands around it nice and even and then hit it with the hair dryer on hot for about 45 seconds, then leave the bands on it til it cools. It's not quite as permanent as steam but if you gotta curve one while you're waiting on a steamer it works hella good, and doesn't require the hat to get damp.

    So I actually do a little variation of this I like to shock my hats!!! Let me explain I use the steamer and the bottle to get the curve and steam it a little more while it’s on the bottle then immediately put it in front of my AC! This sort of locks the curve in place! You should try it out you just gotta expose the curve to really cold air

    I like the way you held a difference in how far you let the steam hit that. If you stay too long and too close you will create a fuzz o the brim. Also your first hat should have been still playable, with your hands with 4 fingers on top and the thumbs underneath you can still form the brim to your liking.

    The only thing I’m worried about because I have a size 7 head is that even when curving flat brim hats, it still pushes out at the tip a bit because they are designed to remain flat. It works a bit better for bigger heads. That’s why I always buy the low profile style 59 fifties so it comes curved. Just sucks all the best hats come flat only lol. Steamer works wonders though! I watched the hat stretcher video and those work wonders

    • @SmallFeetBigHeat
      @SmallFeetBigHeat  9 місяців тому

      I’ve curved size 7 hats and never run into that issue. I would ensure your lining up the sides and curving the bill completely, sometimes people curve the middle but not the sides all the way and it doesn’t achieve a round look

    Thanks for the tutorial! If you could would appreciate a video on how to stretch a fitted and the difference between stretching a poly vs a wool fitted.
    Just started collecting so def something I’m wary of doing cuz I don’t want to ruin any of my hats.
